This might disappoint a lot of people, but my practise suggests, at least in part, that our mind state in sleep is a good measure of how well we function without the body earth experience. I say disappointing, because most people rarely admit to have control, sensation, critical thinking process, focus and other automatic processes this experience does easily, when in the dream state. It is somewhat better if the sleep is entered with a focus on the crown, rather than the back of the head, entry of ida and pingala, visualize a nose in the back of if your head breathing in, the visual cortex in the back if brain, this is based on actual experience and rigorous training on doing this. However, it is not that much better, there are still issues with time perception, memory recall and skilled thought process. But there are more sensations, like having mass.

Death experience? That's when you loose all volitional control (as described by Ramana Maharshi), your body temperature drops, you motor movements freeze. And you lie there sort of wondering about the next life. There's always a voice inside you at such moments to guide you further.

WADR to the Swamiji, it appears now the Vedantist's are subtly moving from the Soul to the Subtle -body concept. It is an nuanced shift. Perhaps, a development from S Vivekannada's exposition of The Atman. A significant shift.
Be that as it may, IMHO, as a person who went through the Near Death Experience, I may let you know that the soul is nothing but like the light that emanates from an electrified element. It illuminates the surroundings & the source.
Apparently, when the current is put off, the light also goes off. It is then perceived as though something has disappeared or vanished. A loss. The physical medium still remains.
What leaves the physical body is energy. The learned Swami may well understand this, but perhaps his vow does not allow him a full scope for such an exhibition.
Thus, Body is Mortal, whereas Energy is Immortal.

I personally follow exactly what you feel. However Atman is not denied anywhere.

@@AyurvedicWisdom Sir, Thanks. I should thank the channel, the anchor and more importantly Swamiji who is a very erudite scholar, and a great thinker whom I appreciate a lot. Utube also needs a praise for bringing his thoughts to commoners like me.
Now to your point. Whether it is denied or not, is a different question. It is an old concept, derived out of old Logic. A denial of Atman will collapse the entire Indic , primarily Hindu, doctrine of Karmic cycles. Hence there is a vested interest.
