I have chanted daily for over eleven years. One mantra has been with me every day and I have done many 40 day practices of various mantras. Daily chanting truly changes a person. Take care with what you choose to chant, not all mantras are good for all people at all stages of their life. Best, in my opinion and experience, to stick with something simple and wholesome, like Om Mani Padme Hum. As for what you 'want' from mantras, chant for a good heart and the rest will take care of itself. Good luck!

Sanatkumara replies: "There is a great point in whatever you have learnt, no doubt, but this knowledge has not helped you for the simple reason that nothing can help you unless it is a part of your Being, unless it is a part of your Self. Nothing that is outside you can be of any help to you. Anything that is extraneous to your Self is not going to free you from sorrow. The source of your sorrow is what is outside you and that is an external self for you. It is not the Primary Self. Thus, the knowledge that you have about these things which you have mentioned just now is not the knowledge of the Self of these things, but the knowledge of the names of these things, the nomenclature of these things, and you have an idea of all these things. This is what they call theoretical knowledge of the things in the world. But what is the good of it? So, my dear Narada, all this is name only: these are words, all this is language, this is theory, this is information, nothing more than this. As a matter of fact, what you enumerated just now, Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, Atharvaveda, Itihasas, Puranas, this science, that science, this art, that art-all this is nothing but words and words. They seem to tell you a lot, but they cannot ultimately help you unless you enter into their Being, unless you become their Self."

Prasanth is a good orator I bet he hasn't experienced even a bit of inner peace in his meditation, stick with traditional swami's like ramakrishna mission, they do mantra intiation in Vedic way like rishis used to do. They intiate into powerful mantras.

Thank you Swami Ji for this wonderful talk.
Some self proclaimed 'gurus' who first claim to not know any Sanskrit at all with great pride, later go on to give misinformation to millions about the pronunciation of Om as being AUM and their followers go on to spread this misinformation.

    • @agnivaray7476
      @agnivaray7476 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

The pronunciation of ‘aaa’ is also very powerful IMO. It’s connected deeply with the material plane. I’m aware of this debate of Om and AUM, and have tried both. Both have helped me.
When I chant AUM, I just start with ‘aaaa’ and then softly transition into ‘ooommmm’ after that. Almost like it’s a two part chant.
In my experience, this has been helpful. I’m open to critical insights on this.

Gayatri Mantra is the most powerful mantra , and one eventually has come back to Gayatri Sadhana in the end.
But one has to learn how to chant the mantra, mental repetition will not do much good.
This is purely scientific when your master truly shares the science behind it . 😊

I'm not a Hindi, I'd appreciate if you address the following questions of mine. 1. How many bijas are there? 2. If the bija is the deity, then reciting the bija means you call upon that particular deity, but since that deity is a particular expression of Brahma, would it be correct to say that you are indirectly just calling upon Brahma? What practical difference does it make to our life to call upon Brahma or a particular Bija. Is Brahma numerically one, or is he actually the Unity in Multiplicity?
    3. Do the Bija mantras share any conceptual similarity with the Nordic Runes or the Huruf Muqattat (so called mysterious letters of the Quran)?
    Thank you in advance.

1.Every letter is a Bija and combinations of these letters make some more beejas ( There are 51 letters in Sanskrit language so there are lots of bijas )
      2. Bijas are forms of deity so yes when you chant you invoke the deity inside you in advanced stages and that will be like calling upon Brahman in a specific form. Difference is pure Brahman is without attributes however in earlier stages of your spiritual journey or due to mind's inclination we might be attracted to a specific deity form.so deity is Brahman with some attributes ( Brahman combined with Maya in a good way)

    • @chandraravikumar

Forbidden to everyone in general. The Guru will know who that special person is from amongst the many and may choose to impart a Manthra to him or her, one which is special to that person. This Manthra cannot be made public by that person. As to why Forbidden? I have no authority to discuss this question on this platform. Swamiji will do that. But a one line indicator may be allowable. A Manthra has immense power for both positive and negative consequences. It is vital that the control over a manthra does not fall into the hands of wrong people.

It helps you to be sane and take all the shit thrown by life and still be composed so it lays the road for your spiritual journey.
