Joep R Really good drummer. May I suggest, if you don't already know them, the italian band Novembre? For example the tracks Remorse, or Winter 1941. Another great drummer, imho.
How these guys play something this rhythmically complex and emotionally intense without their brains melting out of their noses is absolutely beyond me.

Which is dumb (in both instances). But holy hell, I gotta hear this again. Wow. I found this because I looked at some drum videos, then Mario, then Gojira...and wow. The "rhymical complexity" is one thing but those guitars are freaking weapons of mass destruction.
Im pretty sure he's a trained Jazz drummer and he practices for up to 4 hours a day, a month or two before starting a tour or album. And 2 hours of that is just practicing double bass.
FreddieMercuryFanFTW that's dedication. He's definitely fun to watch. Hope to see them live, one day. Had my tix to see them in SF with L.O.G. & Dethklok, back in 2012. However, Czech Republic authorities... had different ideas. I bitch & moan about the tour being cancelled, but my woes were nothing compared to what was going on in Mr. Blythe's world at the time. Not to mention, the family of the young man who perished. But, I digress. Gojira... you're still near the top of my bucket list!
AnthonY TenkkU uhhhhh no it is not lol. You're playing the same rhythms as the intro once the guitars come in and accent the begging of every note group. Trust me, it's fucking hard. It might appear to be straight eighth notes, but the accents make things incredibly difficult. Now I'll have to say, yes, the guitars and bass have it WAYYYY easier than the drummer. Rus Gordon I like this live performance more than the studio version because of it
Russell Gordon Joe sounds like that on "black ark" by cavalera conspiracy
terra incognita bro
Listen to the fall
@@aaronclark5485 dude What does he say in this part because it does not sound like the lyrics "I can not stomach these forms and colours anymore but I'm here to continue after all I have been through" I mean it sounds like it in certain parts but not totally same
To this day, Mario is still the best drummer I've ever witnessed live. I still felt his kicks in my chest days after the show.
melted my fucking face off. God I wanna see these guys live
on a US tour right now luckily
Gonna see them in Seattle tomorrow!
I can say without a doubt Gojira was the best live show I've ever seen.
Fuck yes! I have been a fan for years, but I saw them for my first time in October. Now I'm completely obsessed!! Will go out of my way to see them play live again!
I’ve seen a lot of band live, Tool, Slipknot, RATM, and I can confidently say the only band to match up to this level of sheer awesomeness live is Meshuggah
This is very impressive. I'm obsessed with this song.
Elizabeth Darski you are hot, just like this song!

Hands down the best live band on the planet. This is my all time favorite performance of this song and probably of them in general. Long live Gojira
Super Mario, Bruh.
Yoshira
+Augusto Vitor hahahaha
still one of the best live performances iv seen
his low growls live sound fucking inhuman
I could listen to that jam session starting at 5:45 for the rest of my life, gives me the chills!!
SAME
Why did I not know this band until 5 minutes ago?
Have fun digging through their discog, they're amazing.
You'll get to hear their songs for the first time. Lucky bastard.
Have fun going through their stuff. I'd suggest listening to From Mars to Sirius and L'Enfant Sauvage first, then Magma and The Way of All Flesh.
Roderick Usher Never listened to it.
Enjoy it... amazing band
Gojira and Opeth the 2 best bands in the world today.
+amsedelm opeth use to be good
+Todd Daniel they are still good, they just changed their sound to a more prog rock
Nicklas Gray true but i just think its as good as the old stuff. and Martin lopez is my favorite drummer so that probably has a lot to do with it
+amsedelm
Didn't you just forget Sabaton, for example ?
+amsedelm Be'lakor is doing some very nice work, upcoming album seems nice too...
I can honestly say, this is the greatest song I’ve ever listened to in my 34 years on this planet!
This song is brutal as fuck
TWOAF is a masterpiece of an album, and gojira are amazing live !
Coming after watching them opening for the OLYMPICS is an absolute trip
Really!! Did they open for Olympics ??
@@sudhanshupandey3829 literally last friday

excellent camera work
🤣🤣
ahahgGahahhs
Showed my friend this video, he loves it so much that he's shaking violently on the ground!
holy shit hahaha
This is one of the most amazing live performances of any song, in any genre, in music history.
Shoutout to whoever set the lights up, cuz that lighting (or lack thereof) on his face at 3:03 just adds to the sheer brutality of this.
Listening to this with earphones in.... the guitarist, bassist and drummer are all fantastic!
that final riff is so emotionally strong, damn, this band is amazing
This is one of the greatest performances i have ever seen. Thank you for posting it.
-love, from Kentucky
Can we talk about how good the bassist is? Like, he's so fucking on point with Mario and his stage presence is second to none.
Mario always looks like he fights for his life against the drums
The drums fight for their life
what a progressive band, just when you thought they couldnt get any heavier after the second bridge after the calm part, 4:47 mario goes full death metal and blast beats. holy shit
Myles Kennedy from the band Alter Bridge brought me here. Saw him wearing a Gojira t-shirt and had to check em out. Glad I did!
best metal song of all time. thank you random filipino i met on PSN for introducing me to this 12 years ago
Man, their live shows are fucking beast.
Damn this ride sounds perfect
wuhan 18'
what....? Zildjian 21" A Mega Bell Ride !
Christian Theen My bad, sorry
Yeah, Mario play trigged live ^^
Belette sauvage I don't think so ?
when the sound of the band and singer in a live concert is better than the record in the studio you know you choose the right genre of music
Holy shit that was so heavy my beard grew a meter listening to it! Gotta check out this band \m/
Du har ikke skjegg, Espen..
har d no, etter denna sangen ;)
Ahhaha
I wish they had shown Mario playing the intro.
Well, he hit a splash cymbal before that :D
Patrick M. lol
yeah but like the super mario bros mario
Hey Lars - this is what it looks like when you PRACTICE. Good lord - this is as tight as the record.
5:44 onwards... Oh my god, such an incredibly atmospheric part.
God, i love the ferocity with which Mario comes down on his drums at 5:56
Neglected emotions leading to catastrophic voyage on the other side
I have been given so much stress and lack of confidence
I've been given the gift of so small hope deep inside
I haven't close my eyes in a long time, I am trying
I cannot stomach these forms and colors anymore
But I'm here to continue, after all I have been through
I try to keep my eyes open, I am realizing
This life and death more precious than anything
I won't bring no material in the after life
Take no possessions, I would rather travel light
I'm of this kind that kills all day
But I don't know yet how to die
Art of dying is the way to let all go
Within I practice, in the secret of my soul
My shape in the reflector has
Now for ever, a life on it's own
Gojira is just raw power compressed into song, both in music and lyrics.
Why does Joe never sing the first part "breathing slowly mechanical heartbeat, losing contact with the living....."????
+Doom Dope I like it better that way for the first little bit, it makes the instrumental melody much more discernible.
Sonder Band In that case, they could just move it further, extend it. Not take away lyrics.
+Doom Dope its because he is caught up in the moment of melting brains
+Peter Orsatti More like melting beams amirite
+Doom Dope I think it's just too hard for Joe to play live.
How is it that it becomes better every time you listen to this!?!?!?!?!
i ask the same thing
best progression of gojira, best gojira song
This is so metal - the camera is shaking from the heaviness!!
I’ve loved these guys since they were Godzilla. Best damn drummer on the planet. One of the most underrated and under appreciated bands in the Metal Universe. Amazing talent.
SO massive, the heat they put into their live performances often surpasses the tightness they do on the album
seriously can't watch the first 2 minutes without having 6 seizures.. but then again, "I haven't closed my eyes in a long time.. I am trying." still one of my fav songs
I just love that vividness, the power and the agression of Mario on the drums.Dude hits those drums as if he is in a war with them.
Behold, the current pioneers of metal
This reminds me why I love music, everytime I listen to it.
SO IN LOVE WITH THIS. I'm late to the gojira party but better late than never and I ain't ever leaving 🤘🏼🖤🤘🏼🖤🤘🏼🖤🤘🏼🖤🤘🏼🖤🤘🏼🖤🤘🏼
I still can't believe they just straight up play THIS
