You know I am 23 and I am getting to know NKOTB just NOW... in 2022. While watching their videos, I wish I was alive when they were in their early years as a group, but I also think "hey, I don't even know if I would have been able to see all their interviews and performances as I am watching them today, on the Internet". Of course I cannot watch them Live in a concert looking as they were here 💔 but there's no much difference anyways... it's not like I would date them if we were both the same age 😂
To me, none of them sound as if they are trying to sound "ghetto." They all have what sounds to be a quintessential Boston accent. The Boston accent, along with some NY accents & some New Orleans accents tend to sound more urban than what is typically heard in the mainstream. Also, these guys use the black venacular (namely, Jordan & Donnie), but it's more than likely because that's what they were most exposed to when growing up; they're products of the environments from which they come.
Yeah...these guys used to catch a lot of flack for "trying to act/sound/be black," but I don't believe they were "acting" at all. The guy below posted that they sound differently today than years ago, and I would have to disagree. They no longer use as much slang (which would stand to reason since slang is created by and for youths...which they were back then), but those guys still use the black vernacular (BV). BV deals with how you use the language, which still speaks to their upbringing.
I was raised in a mixed neighborhood, too, and the accents of both whites and blacks tend to blend, especially in terms of colloquialism and black vernacular. It seems to me as though it is far easier to adapt a more "urbanized" sound than it is to adapt a "mainstream" sound when you are consistently immersed that type of setting. And then there is the culture...it seems that when you're in a mixed setting, most people tend to lean toward the black culture than the white. Don't know why that is.
I bet when she sang to him, “I think we’re alone now,” Jonathan was like, “Oh, crap, please let that be her rehearsing and not wishful thinking on her part.”
The New Kids On The Block band- Derek Antunes- drums, Kevin Antunes- Keys, Yasko Kubota- keys(RIP), David Dyson-Musical Director and bassist, Rob Sachs-guitar
But I'm sorry for that he's lost his charming cheekbones with perfect braces Jordan should have stopped his braces around that time Charming cheekbones and sleek jawline disappeared after braces were removed It seems to be separate from past adolescence
Yawn... blah blah blah about the accents... I don't speak the same way I did when I was a teen. As adult woman, I would sound ridiculous! The way they pronounce certain words sound the same as some regular person from Boston to me. Sound same but look way better now so whatever! Also, bring Arsenio back!! I miss his show!!
That’s pretty fake Donny about Apollo and you doing well. You guys actually lip synced very easy songs lol. I get it you were kids but don’t say anything about doing well if you didn’t actually sing. Sad about Donny is that million dollars and decades later he’s still flat on every verse he sings live today.
@@foreign.fatoux I’m a fan and they are terrible dancers. But Joey’s musicality as a kid singer was great. Jordan was the right look. This is a very untalented group who could never win against contestants of American Idol etc. But there are two individuals who got better as they aged. They are a cultural phenomenon. No denying that.
Oh please! Jordan can sing, dance and write and just happens to be good looking. Their dances as a group isn't bad at all and they are all very likeable guys. That's what gave them that fame. They have tgat "it" factor.
@@rosephoenix3696 they did? I thought it was the usual “having the look thing.” And no they had such a scandal about singing live that they tried proving they could on their 90s album on Arsenio. Didn’t go well but they tried. I honestly loved Joey’s recording of Please Dont Go Girl. I liked Jordan on his late 90s song “Give it To you” and he danced very well on the video. But Donny.....always always always flat. Even today
Love the New Kids. Miss the Arsenio Hall show and the 90's.
And 30 yrs later…. The truth comes out. 😂 love them always and forever
I never saw this when I was a kid. it's pretty awesome, I missed a lot of stuff that was on tv with nkotb on it.

Still love NKOTB in 2019!!!
lol I love that they're all bobbing their heads just before the commercial *snerk*
can't believe i'm up late watching nkotb vids!
they are all fine looking men!!!!

Let me side-eye you. Ghetto, black, and urban do not have anything to do with one another!
This is fun to watch as a 45 yr old man knowing my female friends loved this back in the day. I love the Jackson 5 so this is cool to see.
Poor Jon, the struggle was real. xox
Jordan the best!
well damn..
Long live to the best pop boy band👑👑✌

I so remember when I was young I couldn't stay up and watch NKOTB on the show because it was a school night Ii was so upset lol
Poor Jonathan he has to put up with all the Tiffany thing even thought they knew he was gay.
I don't think they knew he was gay at this point. Maybe he knew but the rest didn't.
forreal
soggyfroggy it took him a while to come out to the band
I wonder if Jordan knew.

It is my understanding that the only one who grew up in a suburb was Joe. The other four grew up in mixed neighborhoods and went to black schools.
Joe McIntyre ❤️
I have this on VHS LOL Donnie is smoking hot dam he is so cute
joey❤❤❤❤❤
Joey ❤
I have the VHS tape of this show. 🙂
I still remember when I watched this on TV!!
Nice! I had this on VhS...
The CROWD WENT “NEW KIDS NUTS!”
I just realized that there sitting in my favorite to lest 1 Jon 2 Joey 3 Jordan 4 Donnie 5 Danny sorry to the Danny girls 😂
👽
This is true. And it's quite a mystery. They tend to conform to and latch on to the Black culture.
🙄get over yourself. Everything’s about race with you types. Find Jesus. That’ll help your hateful heart.
Latch on to what exactly. Maybe there neighbour had lots of black people. If they were all black they would be this big
@@abdulmumin6251 No they wouldn't, i.e. New Edition.
i write songs as a hobbie, i did send some of them to the copywrite of congress awhile ago. idon't know where to go with it. i'm kinda losted.
Joey McIntyre is such babe big fan
Does jordan have braces here?
jans1026 Yes. He wore clear braces back then.
Those braces sure did him good. …. He is my favorite.❤️
But I'm sorry for that he's lost his charming cheekbones with perfect braces
