Jordan & Joey's vocals sound even better today, IMO! I guess when you're at the height of your fame, all sorts of weeds come out trying to cut you down. It's not a new story, greed is an ugly thing. Although, I can understand when it's valid- remember "everybody dance now" (or is that the right title of the song?) the actual vocals where done by a heavier set woman & in the video featured a skinnier singer. Hollywood is so wrong sometimes!
In 1992, NKOTB were fading in the pop music world. I was in the 6th grade at that time. Other singers and groups surpassed them in popularity, such as Boyz II Men, Mariah Carey, TLC, Kris Kross, and Michael Jackson made a comeback. Also, if you watch videos of their early tv performances and concerts, it's clear that NKOTB lip-sang sometimes. I understand why they did it. Their dance moves were important, and it would ruin their vocals if they tried to sing and dance simultaneously. When they needed to sing live, they could do it.
It's not usually the bands choice to lip-sync. It would be the producers of the tv show or the executives running the concert. When they got really big, they always sang live. The whole thing is stupid now though because during the 90s every pop band lip-synced and no one even cared. Just look at NSync and BSB etc.
1 big one was at the Apollo. They lip-sang both songs and both performances are on TH-cam. If i was a part of the group I would of lip sang because their dance routines were hug and if they sang and danced they would of been booed off stage.
