Bueno, y de hecho también toca el teclado, vamos, que es multi-instrumentalista. Es más, Frusciante ha dicho alguna vez que para él Josh es el mejor batería del mundo, no por hacer de menos a Chad, sino porque dice que Josh toca la batería como él mismo lo haría, si supiera hacerlo. Por cierto, recomiendo a quienes no lo hayan hecho todavía que busquen todos los trabajos de Josh y John juntos y los escuchen. No se van a arrepentir.
Josh was a drummer before being a guitarist! He played drums in Ataxia i.e. (in fact, he said he became a better drummer when he started playing guitar, lol), and he began music with the piano. So yeah infinite respect to him for replacing John as guitarist when it was not his strong.

That's also applicable having two guitarists but we don't know maybe they tripping wanted to have one guitarist who did strumming and lead at refrain adlib or chorus... Sometimes it's a unique style of some bands as is
