I'm a 37 male who use to work at a tuxedo shop where light sewing was needed. My grandmother use to sew and it has been a wonderful memory and skill I love. Thank you for a wonderful tutorial and guidance. On my way today to buy a sewing machine. Wish I had a mother or wife like you. Thank you again. Now time to binge watch all your videos :))

I love these tutorials. I have been sewing for at least 45 years. I am a seamstress and costume designer so I sew pretty much all day everyday. I do have a little tip I have found that works great with ribbed necklines. If you divide the neckline in 4ths. Pin the middle front and pin the middle back. But on the shoulder seams pin it 1/8 to 1/4 in in front of the shoulder seam. Depending on how low your front neckline is. The front is lower so it makes mor sense having a little more stretch there. Just a little tip I find that makes it lay nicer. Thanks for all of your work!

Sewing over pins the way she did, where they're perpendicular to the seam you're sewing, is actually fine and a super handy trick. The needle just slips over them You're absolutely right about sewing over pins when they're in the same direction as the seam, though.

I printed out the pattern and cut page 1 and 2, cut out the fabric and started to sew and I thought um that looks a bit small, then it wasn't until I watched your video again, plonker me I hadn't cut out page 3 and stuck it to the bottom of Page 1. So now I'm going to attempt it again. HA HA lol Love your video Dana and thank you for sharing

I know this is an older video but, as I see it, just find the quarters of the band and the neck and pin them and then, if needed, center of those pinned quarters, etc. Much like any matching, except the band is a bit smaller than the shirt neck, so carefully stretch to fit as you sew..... My question is how do you finish it? I know this video is trying to keep things simple so... love that but, I might like to top stitch it to keep it from rolling, etc. Don't think my older machine will take a double needle but, would you recommend a single 'top' stitch, some 1/8th in from the seam? How would you finish the neck?

    • @smallfootprint2961

Love your videos, they are easy to understand. I sew all kinds of fabrics, would love to see a video on different knit sleeves on t-shirts, such tulip sleeves, long sleeves, cap sleeves, etc. I would also like to see how to color block on knits. Thanks!
