I had the Cube Controls F-Pro wheel for about 11 months. I started using the clutch when I switched to iRacing and the spring on the clutch broke after only 20 races. I emailed Cube Controls Customer Service and they sent me label and I bought a GT Neo while it was getting fixed. Cube Controls fixed the wheel the same day and I was going to return the GT Neo but, in all honesty, the GT Neo might be a better wheel at 1/4 of the price 💀💀. GT Neo only has 2 thumb encoders instead of 4 in the Cube Control F-Pro. But the two thumb encoders on the GT Neo are actually MUCH better than any of the thumb encoders in the F-Pro. I get the Cube Controls wheel in a few days back so I might end up selling the F-Pro and keeping the GT Neo. Also, the shifters in the Neo GT are basically silent compared to the loud and clicky F-Pro shifters. Simagic selling super quality gear at reasonable prices is going to disrupt the overpriced sim racing industry
Thank you so much for the super chat, you are very kind. I’m planning on getting a neo soon, most of my mates have got it and they say exactly the same as you. It looks great 😎
Hi Andy, the electronics in the hub tell the base there’s a wheel connected. Then the cube wheel comes with a coiled USB cable to connect directly to the PC.
Quick question, there a reason why you mounted the podium hub upside down here? I just bought the F-PRO secondhand and this person also mounted it upside down, I just don't want to have disassemble everything to mount it properly again if it ends being pointless. He mounted it with larger screws so I have to take off the front cover to take off the podium hub, the same way he mounted it originally.
Hi Jimy, I’m not using the Fanatec base anymore but from what I remember it was the holes that had no threads on the wheel hub. They wouldn’t line up when you try it the other way so it had to be upside down
@@dannymoffatsimracer I actually figured it out. You just have to use a different set of holes that are available on the hub to make it work in the correct orientation. So one above in the middle and two below for any future people reviewing this comment on your videos. By the way keep on making great videos! I’ve come across several of your videos while looking up obscure problems for solutions or clarifications.
Nice review Danny, the F-pro is certainly a beautiful wheel. Do you think the DD Pro's 8nm is enough for the F-pro? How much ffb in ACC do you have to turn up when compared with the Fanatec V2.5? Just a tip you can apply tennis overgrip to the Fanatec V2.5 which increases the grip thickness and tackiness, this helps with the ergonomics.
Hi buddy, I’m using the same FFB with this wheel as I was using with the v2.5 which is set to 100% in fanalab and 80% in game. I did try the tape method but my thumb was constantly moving the thumb encoders. My hands are just too large unfortunately. The v2.5 is a great wheel though.
Hi Davide, I did have that problem. To solve it I loosened off the collar on the shaft so I could pull it out and turn it 90 degrees before putting it back in. Once I recalibrated it again then each turn on it would only do half a turn and turn back instead of doing a full rotation
@@dannymoffatsimracer super interesting this Will solve the full rotation, but i dont undestund well how you did It. Is there any guide in internet? Thanks
@davidesterza6971 if you loosen the collar on the wheelbases main shaft, as if you were removing it to change to a QR2 shaft. Gently wriggle the shaft towards you until you can freely turn it. Then just put it back in in a slightly different position in relation to the motor. Then once you tighten the collar back up just recalibrate the centre and give it a try
@@dannymoffatsimracer Fantastic! I do it! I had to rotate the QR2 of 180° respect to the motor hub, and now it only makes a 90° turn to the right and then 90° to the left, thus returning to the central position without making the 360° rotation as before. Thank you!
I just got then same wheel, Cube Controls FPro . During sudden changes of direction (with ffb quite high) , I can notice a slight creak sound in the rear part of the steering wheel. I have a Simucube 2 pro base with Simucube quick release, all the screws are very tight. Do you notice any creaking sound?
@LadrimSlump if you can’t find anything loose I’d contact the shop or pop onto the cube controls discord page. They’re really helpful on there. My blue Fanatec wheel used to creak and it drove me nuts.
Good video mate. Wheel looks amazing As you are using Adams light settings does this mean you can crash into someone and blame it on them for driving to slow 🤣
Hi Danny. I have the Fanatec PS4 DD1 wheel base which I purchased in 2020, I also have the podium module and shifters on a different wheel which I can take apart like you have done. Based on your two videos, will I able to connect the cube control F1 Pro wheel to my DD1 wheel base and will there be any problems. Alex
Hi Alex, yes you’ll be able to connect it the same way I’ve done. My DD1 is away for repair so that’s the base I’ll be using with the wheel once it comes back.
@@dannymoffatsimracer The only part I didn’t see is how does the Fanatec DD1 accept the wheel and did you add the podium module shifters to the cube control F1 Pro and where do I hook the USB connection to?
@alexkatona2624 hi Alex, the wheel has its own shifters so you only need the podium hub for the connection to the wheelbase. The usb cable goes straight into the pc, that’s how it gets it’s power

How does the hub know the wheel is connected? Is there a cable to connect the 2?

I haven’t noticed anything. I’d check all the bolts throughout the wheel in case any have loosened off with the vibration from the FFB
