@@marybolles3736 I use clement family farm’s video and downscale it. It’s just beans and sugar grinder and sit and wait like extract though. He uses his beans that have already been extracted. I use my seeds for paste (Whitney Olsen recipe), my pods for extract and then sugar last. I just heard people are dehydrating and turning to powder but I haven’t tried it yet. Good luck if you try it!
Very nice recipie Gemma! They looks amazing! I love the vanilla as flavour and as perfume! In my desserts a always use vanilla extra! Have a nice day and good weekend! 👍👏🍴
Hi Gemma, I can’t wait to make the paste and with it the compound butter on waffles or pancakes sounds amazing! One of my favorite recipes is your ‘Make Ahead Apple Crumb Pie’, love it! I was wondering if I can assemble the raw dough, put in the cooked apples and freeze it to be baked a few weeks later? Thanks for your GREAT recipes and videos, I’m actually a pretty good baker thanks to you!!
I don't recommend you assemble and freeze it. Make the components of the pie ahead of time, then assemble when ready to bake. Just roll out the crust, fill with the filling, cover and bake. That way, the crust does not get soggy by getting soaked with the filling. Hope this helps.
You can store this in the fridge for up to a year. Go ahead and give it a go. Get the recipe here, www.biggerbolderbaking.com/how-to-make-vanilla-bean-paste/
Could you save the bean-pod-waste you discarded and use it in … say … a candle, 🕯️ or Potpourri… homemade lotions etc? Or to use in a recipe in another way? Like adding to oatmeal or the like? Just curious. My knee-jerk reaction is to save everything and use it all. Comes from the “waste-not, want-not” era. 😂
It's recommended you use grade A or B vanilla beans to get the best results. I hope you get on well with it. Get the recipe here, www.biggerbolderbaking.com/how-to-make-vanilla-bean-paste/
Is there a reason why you do not include the solids in the paste? Don't get me wrong, I will try your lively recipe, but I am used to seeing the seeds and having a thicker consistency. Thanks !
You can opt to include them. I prefer to let it pass through a mesh sieve, so only the finer seeds and pod go through. It's used in many recipes as a flavor enhancer, the solid parts can leave an unpleasant mouthfeel. Hope this helps.
Thank you for sharing this video. This might be an odd question, but the amount of corn syrup you used still produces a very runny vanilla paste, so really, other than sweetness, is there any point really in adding it? I would use agave syrup or even date syrup instead as either are better health wise than corn syrup if a syrup really is necessary. I realise it is added to prevent the sugar from crystallising but it is easy to get rid of the crystals by popping in the microwave for a minute or even in a Bain-Marie as one does with honey that has crystallised. Or is there a reason that this would not work? I am still trying to find an idea or two for a use for the spent ground up pods as there must be something useful to do with them instead of throwing them away. I will share if I find anything useful. I make my own oat milk and the recipe I use said to throw the spent oats away. They don’t need to be as they still have goodness left in them and I add to my homemade bread or oat muffins. But I think your vanilla paste would be absolutely fantastic in the oat milk! I can’t wait to give it a try. Thanks again for sharing your recipes! I can’t wait to give it a try. 💖
Hi Shelley. The syrup is there mainly to prevent the crystallization of sugar syrup. But if you an alternative will help do the same, I say go for it! Vanilla paste in oatmilk sounds interesting. I hope it turns out well. Thank you for sharing this here.
You will find the link for vanilla beans and links for other ingredients & tools here in my written recipe: www.biggerbolderbaking.com/how-to-make-vanilla-bean-paste/
Hi Maureen. You will find the link under Key Ingredients and Why / Vanilla Beans. Click on amazon.com and it will take you to the page where I got the vanilla beans in Amazon. I hope this helps.
You made basically vanilla simple syrup - paste should be thick and have all those good bits you discarded and you are missing alcohol which extracts the vanilla and makes it shelf stable. Looks like a great recipe for syrup but its not paste.
I haven't tried it but based on research it is not recommended. It may be dangerous spore-forming bacteria can survive harmlessly are very prevalent on the surface of most fresh food surfaces. Vanilla paste can be stored in a cool, dark place for up to three years, a year once opened, but stored in a lidded jar in the fridge. Hope this helps.
Hi. I have an article on possible sugar substitutes in baking www.biggerbolderbaking.com/sugar-substitutes-guide/ but I'm afraid I'm not an authority on making recipes that will assure anyone it's diabetic safe or friendly. I think you'll need to clear a recipe with your physician, to be on the safe side.

Gemma Please Make a Video on How TO Make Croissant Fruit Filled with whipped Cream!! Thank you!
I'll look into it. Thanks for being here.
Can xantham gum be used to make it a bit thicker, and if so, how much, and at what point should it be added? Thank you in advance for your reply.
Hi. I haven't tried that in this recipe, hence, I can't recommend measurements or share ideas on how it will turn out. Sorry.
Wow Gemma! That looks so easy to make and what great recipes to share for using the vanilla bean paste!

I had a look at your corn syrup recipe and it states that you can replace corn syrup with golden syrup....can we do that for this recipe also?
Yes, you can in this recipe. Hope you enjoy!
I have quite a few beans that have been soaking in rum for 2 years. Could I use these?
If there are no funny smell or flavor, I think it's still good.

I was told not to add the sugar to eggs to early because the eggs will start to cook. How early before you need them do you add the sugar?
A few minutes will do. You just need enough time to get the ingredients blended evenly. Hope this helps.

What ice cream machine do you have ?
I have a cuisinart ice cream machine. But I usually use it in making gelato. I also have recipes that don't require its use.

What if we have only, like, two bean pods? 😔
That will work still. You can adjust the rest of the ingredients to keep the proportion.
Frozen custard = ice cream ? 😂
She removes the bean pods lol
