He's spamming his buttons like it's retail and wondering why he is instantly oom.
Also grabbed no talents to reduce mana cost. Probably want to go a little bit in Elemental to pick up reduced mana cost, reduce magic damage taken, and clearcasting. Then get the 5% increased block chance from Enhancement. Probably worth downranking Earth Shock and using it for the interrupt and taunt, and focusing on other spells for damage.

@@WilliasNah, what you want and need is shield, thundering strikes, anticipation and flurry. He didn't take even those, the talents are hilarious. You don't even need to spam earth shock anymore cause the threat from that + rockbiter is easily enough threat with the new tank rune. But worst mistake he did was spamming totems and shit, you only need stoneskin mostly, mana totem is lvl 26 so healing stream is ok if it's a long fight, searing totem same thing, but I wouldn't even reapply those depending on fight.
I love how he dropped Strength of Earth totem like 9 times in a row lol

They've always been able to do it, but it was a challenge offmeta spec. The fact that it's finally becoming a competitive spec is exactly what I've always wanted from a vanilla+ experience. And this seems to do it better than any private server has. Really excited for it!

Technically in my last Hardcore run I literally did a BFD run with a shaman tank. Group was that, myself as a priest and 3 hunters lol. Holding aggro is not a problem even in classic before any of this, especially at low levels. At higher levels the issue is mitigation and mana
suprisingly mitigation isnt an issue in the later tiers like AQ and Naxx, its actually just threat and mana. as rockbiter is a flat TPS increase and doesnt scale with your weapon, other classes scale much better into later tiers. (i OT throught all of classics raid tiers, even tanked Ouro through its enrage, and Soaked hatefuls on patchy), and i tanked through all of hardcore aswell, i stopped at 53.

Im curious to see how it plays. It mostly look like classic but they slapped on tbc combat but some classes do get some pretty unique stuff im definitely trying a survival hunter and hopes that it's good this time

@Esfand This will ruin the game if world is not tuned. Buffing every class to the extreme and giving it raid gear every 20 levels will make leveling easy and boring. And I believe Blizz designers are that stupid.

I played WoW on and off for nearly 8 years, starting in Cataclysm but haven't touched the game in years. The thought of experiencing Classic has always piqued my interests, but ultimately the complete lack of class balance and absence of class role diversity (i.e. only warriors can tank in endgame) was the primary thing holding me back. I really think this is cool that they're allowing increased class role diversity and rebalancing things. The only choice for me would be do I play a shaman tank or a bear druid tank?
Gonna clue you in on something... class balance (homogeneity) is the antithesis of creativity.
Having classes excel in some areas and fall flat and downright unable to do things in other areas makes them... UNIQUE
And it drives creative gameplay to find workarounds around those weaknesses.
Giving every class every tool makes them all very bland.
@@BAMAJiPS you're not clueing me in on anything, I agree with you. Class homogenization is what made modern WoW unplayable to me. But in my opinion, classic having a complete absence of that is much worse because there is a complete absence of endgame viability for many specs in classic, and only one tank class. If you don't see how that is bad, we'll agree to disagree.
Do you think it's a good thing that mages and warriors completely outclass others for DPS? Or that you can't played DPS paladin or boomkin unless you have a bunch of friends in your guild who agree to just let you tag along even though you're a DPS loss? No way. Every class doesn't need to be balanced to the point where they're all homogenous but at a baseline they should be viable and be able for the most part to find raid spots, no matter what DPS/healer/tank spec you choose to play.
@@BAMAJiPS Honestly I agree with OP, having upsides and downsides to certain specs in regards to their strengths and weaknesses is one thing, but looking at paladins for example, not even having a taunt in their toolkit is just downright stupid from a gameplay perspective. Plus, from what we've seen so far, there are still going to be gaps in certain toolkits for each class, just with more consistency to the point where as OP said, most tank specs are actually worth levelling for the sake of tanking and not just the first few 60 dungeons then being forced to swap spec for raids.

@@leo9528950 I left WoW retail before the last raid of Battle for Azeroth, as soon as they released the trailer for Shadowlands that was it for me. I was considering returning to play cata classic since it was my favorite expansion but now that I know they are totally woke I will just try to find a decent cata private server, if there is one.

Looks like you'll need to go Water Shield to tank, though with increased block chance at higher levels, you should get more mana back from Shield Mastery.
Tanks that can't tank, healers that can't heal. Truly the best players were invited to play with devs and help them balance classic minus
My only concern is that blissard buffs the classes too much so that you end up taking away the iconic classic "you have to consider if you can make the pull"

Strategizing almost every pull in classic (especially in HC) is the charm of the game.
Its the only game to have elite mob quests. They were all made normal mobs in TBC. Very sad.
In classic pull one mob and 3 others may pull too. In Wrath they nerfed that... and furthermore you could smash 10 mobs simultaneously...
The power creep will be power permanence and hopefully not faceroll the world content except for the new zones/raids
You can solo run dungeons in classic. It’s also super easy

Id love to see it tho, id love to see any guy with any class regardless of gear just casually "solo run" every instance in vanilla and kill all the bosses, personally i cant solo run one instance in vanilla
Theyve already said they will make enemies hit harder, so you still cant pull 5 mobs outdoors and expect to survive on a regular basis.
If you look very closely, you will notice that every time he blocks he does not gain mana, it seems that the ability is bugged or something
So you can technically go dual wield shaman tank?

really dont like how dps enhance is basically retail. Why didnt they keep it 2 hand and make the class feel different than retail. I like how it can tank now tho

That was a bit painful to watch hahaha, but its normal, esfand doesnt know shaman. He keeps forgetting the weapon enchant :P
Real question is, CAN WE REMOVE OUR TOTEMS? or are we forced to move them around to not pull?
I tanked all dungeons in the game in vanilla classic as shaman and it was not meme-y at all. I did 9/10 bosses in molten core and even did some in BWL until too many people quit and the dreg leftovers were too obnoxious about their drop windfury or reroll warrior or /kick and then I quit. I learned from someone he said he tanked all the way into AQ40 as shaman. Shamans can also be perfectly fine off-tanks in a lot of situations.
Whoever made SoD does not play the game. They simply turned the shaman into another warrior tank and they buff warriors and warlocks even more. This is not what the game needed. This version of WoW will die off like all the others.
edit: I read some of the other comments. Shaman in lower levels is actually far superior to warrior as a tank. Bear druids too. Warriors in the lower levels are garbage with no rage and no threat output. When you reach the 50's you kinda need to know how to play the game but you can make Shaman work. The only REAL problem is scholomance and dire maul west where you have 2 bosses with threat resets that require a hard taunt. But again, with some clever strats you can make those work too, for example don't be afraid to ask one of the dps to offtank for 4 seconds while you get the boss back. If you have a plate-wearing warrior they should be able to stand long enough or have a rogue pop his dodge cd.

Hardcore was smart to play this game. But concept of everyone can do everything, the concept of this runes... The more i look at this, the less i linke it.
if u play the mist of pandaria all the fking healers are tanks! healing above 100k each 2 seconds, the PVP is insane loooong and stressing

i hope blizzard will change spells which allow you to tank to be without a timer. thats so dumb and annoying
I did shaman tanking in classic wow - did all of MC and the start of BWL... hit the wall on Broodlord Lashlayer, would always get crushed. Really looking forward to off-meta specs being viable. Dark runes + mana pots on cooldown, Mage water is your friend, and keep your mana spring totem down at all times. Reduce totem cost further by stamping them at a corner then LOS pulling several groups to one duration of totems. Downrank your lightning shield cast. Mana management on a shaman tank is a bit fickle but you can do it if you try!
Classic newb, but in looking over the new runes* why would he use lightning shield over water shield? Wouldn't that be nice for mana sustain?
I am offering up my insights as a shaman tank from 2006 and the relaunch of classic, Not accounting for the additions I have not seen yet. Yes, water shield would be helpful if you do not need the threat from lightning shield. Seems like threat is fine currently.

@@majo1424 I think water shield is the move for tanking till later levels and stuff with better block chance. When shield mastery mana from blocking is enough you can move on molten blast

This is so promising. I did shaman tank back in vanilla but like everyone says, it was not ideal.
Hopefully SoD is a taste of what’s to come in a non-seasonal Classic+ experience.
I’m worried about good, new content becoming obsolete as soon as the level cap is raised. For example if I were to come in after the level cap is increased… not only will leveling be quicker (this is bad because the game IS about leveling) but I would have no reason to do this raid. I’d just level past it. World buffs aren’t really enough to have me go there so maybe add runes? I don’t know.
Also I would love to see new races at some point. Ogres for the Horde and High Elves for the Alliance would be a dream come true.

It’s just copied from ascension wow. Almost 1-1 except being able to spend Talent point in in other classes.

With all the possible ways you can get BiS level 25 gear with all the different ways you can now play your charachter, I'm definitely looking forward to those servers. I'm gonna try and see if I can raid heal as arcane mage, but getting loot from the new world pvp in Ashenvale is really cool too. I also like that Ashenvale is the endgame zone, it is kind of funny to me. One thing that bugs me is that the horde has way easier acces to one of the very few dungeons (WC) and way easier access to Ashenvale than the alliance on average. But I guess that's just Vanilla. It's not that big a problem
Your last issue will end up flipping multiple times anyhow, since the 40 bracket will likely have Gnomeregan as the raid which is easier for Alliance to access by a far more significant margin, then the 50 bracket will likely have a Scarlet Monastery raid which will be Horde favoured once more, onto Karazhan Crypts (maybe) at 60 which is Alliance favoured, but to less egregious an extent.

I miss my s3 smite build. I remember when bwl dropped and got 5 pieces first week I could crit for higher then most pvp players hp in bgs lel and it had instant casts
Nothing alike magad what are people on... this has fixed choices for each spec - i.e 3 added abilities per spec at 25 lvl, nothing randomised.
Ascension is literally classless, mixed abilities...
@@_stefan7589 it isnt about "classless" that they took from ascension, it is about the runes being a copy from REs that are typical in Ascension. Some of them even having the same names.

Secondly, 'runing' was introduced in 2008 with Death Knights. You really think Ascension came up with the idea? lol
@@_stefan7589 Yes Ascension is a WoW private server, of course it uses WoW assets, also water is wet.
But back to the point: DK runes and SoD runes have nothing in common other than also being called "runes".
Comparing them to the generic DK runic system doesnt give me confidence that you have actually looked up what runes in SoD do/are, or REs in Ascension. We aren't talking about a class specific ressource system.
Finally! Time to use the shield!
Shame you werent running a threat meter woulda been interesting to see how well shammy tank can push it.
if the current classic vanilla version of shaman with rockbiter weapon + earth shock is anything to go by, these runes will make it almost impossible for a good shaman player to ever lose threat on a target unless there is a hard threat reset mechanic.

I’m actually ok with this, it’s classic plus with out being classic plus. It’s actually a large scale beta for classic+. With out adding anything after 60.

Nah, its long CD, in this case, of tanking single target, its better to use water shield. In any other situation you would need that threat spell Molten cone or what is it called.

I was worried the new abilities would break the Classic feel, but this is looking more balanced than I thought it would be.
Obviously shaman tank is going to have to pick between having mana or reducing their tanking abilities in some way, and that's pretty cool.
