Most of these "great players" were already in our team in the last World Cup, and they did quite poorly. I don't consider 500 lateral passes to be remarkably good footbal, and I don't think we have any real top quality finishers. Quality finishers make all the difference in these kinds of competitons because national teams are a hodge podge team of players with no chemistry and the real difference maker is usually individual quality, which we don't have. Holding onto the ball for 70% of the time means nothing if you can't score and you're weak in transition.
The golden generation was all spanish, 100% which makes it even better. All the spanish team members were pure spanish. Many teams get their strength in integrating south American talents or african, which is really smart and convinient, but that particular Spanish team came to the throne with all the mentality, skill set and virtuosity from their country.
You are forgetting that Marcos Senna that was very important for Spain in the 2008 Eurocup was Brazilian. It is good to be proud of the spanish born players but Marcos Senna was also part of that Golden Generation even if he didn't play the worldcup and the 2012 Eurocup.

Most of these "great players" were already in our team in the last World Cup, and they did quite poorly. I don't consider 500 lateral passes to be remarkably good footbal, and I don't think we have any real top quality finishers. Quality finishers make all the difference in these kinds of competitons because national teams are a hodge podge team of players with no chemistry and the real difference maker is usually individual quality, which we don't have. Holding onto the ball for 70% of the time means nothing if you can't score and you're weak in transition.

The golden generation was all spanish, 100% which makes it even better. All the spanish team members were pure spanish. Many teams get their strength in integrating south American talents or african, which is really smart and convinient, but that particular Spanish team came to the throne with all the mentality, skill set and virtuosity from their country.
You are forgetting that Marcos Senna that was very important for Spain in the 2008 Eurocup was Brazilian. It is good to be proud of the spanish born players but Marcos Senna was also part of that Golden Generation even if he didn't play the worldcup and the 2012 Eurocup.
