It is going to be fixed in 2.1, next RC (3) effectively. It will be possible to use up to 1000% rate for the mixer so you will only need one servo mix rule :)
What I did was to use a separate Omnibus FC with Betaflight, it works great. Doing it your way, all on one board is probably best though. Great DIY stabilizer video. I'm sure many pilots are interested in Stable video. Now if you could just show us how to adjust the sensitivity of the stabilized gimbal, using one of the Taranis pots, that would be the ultimate.
Another fantastic video, I will be needing this in the near future, looks like a great weekend project. Up until recently I had only installed fixed cameras. I must say you have me quite interested in the possibilities that can be achieved with some servos and pvc or id cards.. Cheers and thanks for the inspiration Andrew.
Great work, Andrew...some superb footage at the end. Look forward to more like it. In the words of Lieutenant-Colonel John 'Hannibal' Smith: "I love it when a plan comes together!" 😃
Really interesting - thanks for that. I have a few old F3 boards knocking about that could potentially be used for this rather than going in the bin at some point. I used roll & pitch servo gimbals a fair bit in the 'old days' as the DJI Naza had outputs to drive them.
Great way to get around the problem. I'm currently working on making a pan and tilt system, using a Jaycar pan n tilt kit and a arduino nano/three axis accelerometer. Should do the same as your set up (fingers crossed).
Nice to see that it can be scaled up even further. I watched another YT video with someone using the exact same method to get a larger flap or flaperon deflection, I take it you also saw that one Andrew?
Hi! Newbie question here. Is it possible to connect a gimbal motor ( ie. RCTimer 2804-100t gimbal motor) directly to a F405 Flight controller, and use with CAMSTAB, same as you would a regular servo, or do you have to use a regular servor?
too cool.. now my question is... can you do a similar thing in the mixer for a pan servo? i'm only getting about 50 degrees each side of center for my servo even though it's a supposed 180 degree servo?
Andrew, I have one of these but it is not running Inav. I have tried to flash it with Inav, but it keeps failing. I cannot find any instructions anywhere. Any ideas??
Well done Andrew, thinking outside the box, maybe you should be an iNAV Developer..? (for Fixed Wing use, there are some glaring Schoolboy errors regarding default settings) Globally, folk have emptied their shopping baskets of (vulnerable) Gimbals they were going to buy....lol The icing on the cake for me of course would be to make it work from the F405 Wing FC...which has enough servo outputs for a Camera Gimbal.
Hi Andrew, thank you for your video. i was thinking if it would be possible to use the pwm servo output from inav/Betaflight to control an ESC and drive a brushless gimbal motor for this roll stabilization purpose.
Hi M. Newton, I have my speedybee working, I have inav 7.1, so do I follow the same set up as yours, and were do I chose the servo to be the chosing one, because I notice on the speedybee I would like to chose the servo S8, thank you and have a nice day.
Well done getting this far Carl. Almost the same as this but instead of adding 4 mixer lines you only have to add one and increase the weight to about 350. When you add the mixer line it will show where to plug the servo in - Depends what else is set up in the mixer.
Hi M, Newton, I was finally able to set up the gimbal, thank’s a lot, you gave me nice advises and propose me good products as usual, I have to say, the program INAV look’s very interesting, I will look at yours videos to learn more, by the way, do you need to do a calibration for the gimbal because I have a slim off set (can be my assembly 😂) thank you and have a nice day
Hi M. Newton, I test my gimbal today and it was nice, the only problem I have a little shake sometime, It happen only when flying , maybe the wind or is there a setting for preventing that, thank you and have a nice day.
Hi M. Newton, I think I found what was my problem, the hole for the camera was just a little to big and with the wind the plate in the front was pushing and the camera was not moving properly. I fix it and can't wait to try it. If you have a video with inav and speedybee with the stabilisator mode, the return home option and the auto launch for nano talon let me know, I will replace my kopilot with that, thank's again and have a nice day.
If I’m using an omnibus board, I don’t need it to arm for the gimbal to work or set up a receiver type? It should work without all the usual set up that’s used for flight if I just want the board for gimbal stabilization?
Hi M. Newton, I’m trying to connect my vtx AKK K31 40 Ch 600 mW and runcam in to speedebee but I don’t have video, I’m having power but no video. Ilook in to inav to see if I have to activate something but don’t find nothing so far. I can see there UART but don’t see on with one i’m connect or how to activate it. Thank you again and have a nice day.
Hi M. Newton, I have a runcam 2 with AKK K31 40 Ch 600 mW, I pluged the runcam in speedybee and the vtx in the analogue plug, got the power on booth but no video.
Hi M. Newton, I got it, I watched one of your video (SpeedyBee F405 Wing - Connection Basics), I mixed the camera and vtx plugs on the speedybee , what a rookie mistake.....Thanks again, my next step will be to set up my speedybee as my flight controller.... but not ready, I will whatch your video first ....Have a nice day.
cant get camstab or any external servos setup with omnibus f4 v6, running inav 2.14 i believe. I can created the servo rules in the mixer, but they will not output to the last two available "s outputs" please help
In the airborne video, you get the feeling that the camera is towing the aircraft, similar to watching a water skier from the towboat. I don't get that same perception when there is no gimbal. Funny thing, the human brain. :o)
@@AndrewNewton i see, inav automatically sets the remaining motor pins to servo pins once you make a servo mixer. I am flying kwad, so it uses motor 1 to 4, and remaining pins are 5 and 6, that where the servos gonna be.
Yes it's sad it's got to this point...by years end we are going to have to register all our aircraft (fixed and rotorcraft) that are over 250g and flown for recreation as RPA (sounds better than drone at least) unless a member of a model aeronautics club and only fly on their land.
I have been searching the iNav threads and GitHub for ages with no success. Finally had a brain wave today. Tried the multiple mixer lines and it worked!
Andrew, I have one of these but it is not running Inav. I have tried to flash it with Inav, but it keeps failing. I cannot find any instructions anywhere. Any ideas??
You shouldn't need more than 1 servo mixer rule. I am part part of iNav's dev team. I will see what I can do to fix this issue.
Thanks Michel, that would be wonderful.

Wow Andrew some really interesting POVs using the roll stabilizer on the camera.

Same here, stand alone board, no receiver. I'll have to think about the knobs idea.
Thanks Andrew, I like the details!

Thanks Keith. I have to say I am relieved and can think about something else now. But I am very happy with it.
So interesting as usual even if I don’t fully understand. Thanks
Great work, Andrew...some superb footage at the end. Look forward to more like it.

Yes good idea, as long as F3 is supported in a firmware version that has the mixer
That is so cool!!

You do need to calibrate a new board using the INAV Calibration page. You can make fine adjustments to the servo mid point in the Outputs page.

S4 output (S1 and S2 are for motors and S3, S4, S5, S6 are for servos)

Can I make a 2 axis gimbal that does headtracking while staying level with this?
Yes but it would be quite bulky to work with a mobius
