- It’s been a while! Sorry for the break wrong way nation, between working overtime to have a big family vacation, and then going on said vacation, it’s been a minute.
We’ve been in Scotland for a little over three weeks, and in that time we got to visit our cruiser friends Kenny and Ali. Ali ended up with a 2011 HZJ71 and we did a little video of it. Hope you enjoy. - บันเทิง
Great to see two very good looking blokes from two side of the world getting so close to each other....
We do make quite the pair.
What is CA?
@@mohammeds5458 California
Good to see you back, Scotland! I have a HJ60 that lives in Scotland
You get out to the cruiser meet the other day?
@@projectwrongway9127 No, they don't invite me to such illustrious events. my kilt is the wrong colour or something.
@@michaelmacleod I can’t imagine that… have you tried hiking the kilt up slightly…? What part of Scotland you located?
So glad you know about the elephant skin. Somehow it’s soft yet has rock hard performance. I lived in Niger Africa and drove an army green Hz71 for a bit. Was great in the sand but not good on the highway because of its short wheelbase.
Good to know! Would have enjoyed a bit more time behind the wheel in this one.
Lovely
My thoughts as well.
such a nice factual review...particularly the elephant parts
I like to keep people informed, it’s my curse.
!!! Missed you, man! Have fun out there!
Had a great time man. Good to return, for the most part.
What a nice car!
Unfortunately Toyota ditched the mighty H55F in the later HZJ7x - they came with a more "sophisticated" R151F which is also weaker.
Ugh. Way to fix a problem that wasn’t there.
Yay! You're back! (sort of) 😃
Yes indeed, had a vacation break but it’s time to return.
I want one
Same here man.
TLDR: wouldn't recommend Dobinsons leaf springs, go with ARB instead if similar $$$
I recently purchased some 70 series leaf springs from Dobinsons dealer in Australia, they were more expensive but they imply their product is Aussie made. I think this only applies to their coil spring product, as their leaf springs appeared to be import junk but at a higher price than their competitors. Quality control was horrible, they arrived damaged, impression was so bad that I thought I'd been scammed with Dobinsons logos sloppily stencilled to the cheapest ebay product. Service from Dobinsons was not great either; they sent replacement parts that didn't fit, and after a few months I gave up on them
ARB OME product was much better but I think they might ship a different product globally based on what I've seen on 'Mud, so know what you're getting
Excellent feedback, I’ll pass it along to Ali as he continues his research
Question - isn't those tubes on the inside for the top mount quad 50 cal? asked another way, do Africa Toyotas come stock with a machine gun mount? Oh and gloat, I've got the 4:1 gears installed in my '40.....
Very gloat worthy… and yes about the machine gun.
A short-wheelbase diesel?
The vehicle came from Dubai? Is it GCC specifications? Because I don't remember any short-wheelbase diesel in the GCC, but I could be wrong.
I’d love one of these, CA has a lot of laws forbidding this ride through.
No we did not get the SWB in Australia we only got 79 single/ duel cab ute 78 troopy and 76, 4 door wagon and the only place in the whole world with 1 engine option 4.5 v8 turbo diesel
I know! You lot down there got the kings helping of great cruisers… we’re dealing with the scraps…
The last best cruiser ever built was in 2006 the HDJ79 with the 1hd-fte all the rest after that are rubbish
I’m curious what the “last best cruiser” we got here in the US? Probably the 80 series…
