    I worked for a collection company for all of eight hours. I was hired, went for one day of training, that was enough. I never went back. I couldn't treat people like that, and be that shady. Besides, it's crap work, low pay, high pressure, no room for growth, and debt collectors are nothing more than reverse telemarketers. They are people who answered an ad for "easy phone work", and the other half of the people I worked with, were from a temp agency.

    We need Attorney Generals and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to go after Abusive Debt Collectors and close down shady operations that use these tactics. Personally if it was me, I would penalize debt collectors for violating the law by reducing the amount debtors owed when the laws are violated. I would also ban awarding default judgements if the statute of limitations on the debt has expired.

    • @wittyedge
      @wittyedge 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Collectors are not good, you can "defend" the industry you work in all you want, but the methods you people use are wrong. Keep in mind that the money you all try to collect is NOT owed to you....if people are able to pay, and decide to pay, it should be to the original creditor, not to YOU....a debt collector is owed nothing..ever! You all like to "buy" the debt for super cheap that a business has wrote off, and then try to get us to pay for it.....yeah, that makes a ton of sense. Get a real job.

    • @bsharp1981
      @bsharp1981 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ok lend me $1000 and ill duck and dodge your calls. then how would you collect money from me? If you run up a credit card bill you owe it just because the debt is bought fee are not added to it. You owe what the bill was when it gets written off. And just because a company buys it for pennies on the dollar you dont sell it for the same price its called a profit.You cant go to Best Buy and ask to buy a big screen for the same price the store bought it for. They will go out of business. I say about 98%of credit card debt gets settled for way less then it was when it comes to collections.

    • @wittyedge
      @wittyedge 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And you're point......? If someone were to pay the debt they owe that is great, but they should NEVER pay a collection agency, because they money is not owed to that agency...they should pay it to the original creditor..period! Collection agencies think they are owed money because they bought the debt for pennies on the dollar, but in reality they never provided a service, therefore they didn't do ANYTHING for the money....therefore they are not owed anything. I find it offensive when debt collectors think they actually have a right to that money. It isn't their money, it isn't their business, and they were never "hired" to collect it.

    • @bsharp1981
      @bsharp1981 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok a company can only hold a account for 181 days with out payment then by law they have to hire a 3rd party to collect or sell the debt. And if the debt is sold the collection agency does not and can not add more to the balance. Like I said most of the time the debts are settled for less what they debtor owes but you have to think iif you loan me $1000 and i dodge and dodge you for 181 days thats like 6 months what will you do? And as for the pennies of the dollars thing when you open a business and sell your your product at cost please let me know ill be your best customer but you will go out of business

      @@bsharp1981Wow your education shows. If a judge will not hear the case is because there’s little to no income and assets. That is why these higher lawyers will not do a judgement or garnishment or other ways. Now your underqualified little payroll took a risk in buying it.
