    Other good tips are - reiterate- the customer's concern, reassure, create a sense of urgency, empathize, and talk with the customer, not to them. Go get 'em guys.

    I will soon be a debt collector , just starting out. Used to be in retention, how similar is debt collecting to that LOB?

    Alex, maybe unknowingly, brought up a very good point. He says he worked 4 hours a day and didn't dread going to work - didn't get burned out from making calls "all day". I'm reminded of how, when I was young, I did a four hour shifts in phones sales. The company's reasoning was that one would be fresher and try harder, in four hours, vs someone showing up for 8 hours and just doing "their shift". I think that would apply to me and maybe many others. It's now got me thinking of offering two "waves" of 4 hours shifts...for all. Might even cut down on employee absenteeism?

    • @ArbeitU
      @ArbeitU  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are a lot of study's that show this actually helps! I think it is definitely a valid option especially in a call center type environment. When Alex owned an agency they considered doing all part-time collectors at 4 hours shifts, but it's kind of culture shock (at least then) since no one is used to it, so it never stuck.
      If you try it let us know your results!

      Agreed my company does 8 hour shifts nights and weekends and a low retention rate because of it. Very easy to get burned out like this

    I would get a lot of PIF by using kindness and compassion. Also using the positive , like your cable or phone won't get turned off .

    As an agency owner, I can say Alex had the right idea to be a top collector in today's dialer environment.Get on and off calls. You Can not get inbound-money calls If you are sitting in a wrapping state on the dialer.
    Also, you don't have to be the best talker on the phone IF you know your database and can find the answers of the questions consumers are asking quickly.
    Good Content on this blog, Keep at it !

      David, tomorrow is my first day as a collections agent in an agency.
      What do I have to focus on to be the best possible?
      I don't like bragging, but the environment is below what I was trained in.
      I was trained hands on, door to door sales, hardcore selling and harsh conditions.
      I honestly thing I have more training than 90% of the agents in the place. How do I go about being the top collector.

    i never did any role play my supervisor just through me to the phone he started me off with transferring calls first which i pretty much picked up fast i learned the script fast than they gave me a small amount of accounts to work on and that was doing outbound calls but what i need practice is on speaking to the debtor and speaking into detail regarding their account i dont want to give out the wrong info.

    To ensure successful debt collection, you need to have an effective game plan. It should be efficient such that it maximizes profit and minimizes cost.

    Definitely not a group of greasy people right here... i remember getting a notice of debt, paid it that day. and that agency proceeded to sell the same debt i had paid, without my knowledge my credit was being effected for the longest time. I'm very responsible with my money and have a positive networth. So why was it effected by someone like this? if my only option was to collect debts id kill my self.
