    Yo, with the help of your videos I went from 0 soldering experience to fixing my gpw and modding my superlight! I ended up going with the kailh 2.0 teals for both of them and I couldn't be happier. The side button fix is massive too! Thanks so much dude. I have a question though, as hard as I tried I couldn't get the switch for my right click in my gpx perfectly straight. Although it feels fine and it's working right now, do you think I'm going to run into any problems down the line?

    • @entsfps
      @entsfps  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      nope, getting it in perfectly straight is pretty much just to show how good you are at soldering -- no actual effect on the mouse

    i used to use the superlight, its still at my desk. i got an attack shark x3 a couple weeks ago and a kysona m600 for my brothers birthday (its the same mouse) paid $45 for the x3 and $35 for the kysona and its crazy how a $35 mouse that comes with glass skates has better side buttons than a $120 mouse. better shape imo as well. shell doesnt flex either. are $100+ mice a scam??

    Is it possible to swap the side button switches?

    • @entsfps
      @entsfps  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      yes, but not for upgraded switches, and they are on a ribbon cable which i would think is nearly certain to break during soldering if it's not hot air method

  • @DJaquithFL
    @DJaquithFL 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't like the right and left switches, the encoder detents are far too mushy and the physical height of side buttons is too short.
    I can easily imagine how to swap out switches and encoders, but I have no idea what to do with button height other than to 3D print or somehow find a replacement part.

    • @entsfps
      @entsfps  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or use a grip tape type sticker to raise the height. 3d Printing new buttons is probably the most solid bet tho.

  • @lostboy2637
    @lostboy2637 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is there a reason you use aluminium tape and not some other type like fabric?

    • @entsfps
      @entsfps  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i feel like the alu tape will deform less over time.

  • @ariathyf144
    @ariathyf144 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    While the tape mod reduce pre-travel and wobble on the buttons I highly recommend to make the switch swap because there is serious inconsistencies between switches, specially low tier ones like huanos or chinese omrons.
    Yesterday I did the full upgrade on my old main with Kailth 4.0 and the mice feel is completely different now.
    I wish I knew it sooner, the result is definitively a premium feel.

      @@Solus793 Well 2 years later they pulled of some good witches. I like tactile and firm to press switch so the Kailth 4.0 / 8.0 are my recommended choice.

    Sent in my gpro wireless to Ents for switch replacement. The service was done quickly and fixed the doubleclicking. I would recommend this as a great fix for a double clicking gpro.
    I originally RMAd my gpro but the new one also ended up double-clicking. However, If your mouse is out of warranty, id say $46 bucks for Ents' service is worth it over trying to replace the mouse full price.

      do you mean for me personally? i do if it's easy (like if i can swap to a heavier encoder with a pcb swap vs soldering it) or if it's actually broken -- i just got a gpwsl and the encoder is way too soft, I'll be swapping to a PCB with a lubed yellow TTC encoder which is extremely tactile and more of my thing. i tend to leave my own stuff stock unless its actually broken.

    Hey Ents. Thanks for the awesome video and tutorial. I was able to swap my switches for Kailh 2.0's and fix the mushy side buttons with a bit of tape. Your tip of adding solder then heating up the pads made removing the switches EASY! Where I MESSED up was putting back in the scroll wheel. The little spring flew off the plastic housing and I can no longer find it. Any thoughts on a replacement spring?
