Man those are some huge final drives! I ran a track press for a CAT dealer in Summerville and the biggest we saw was a d10. Each cleat for the track was 230# by itsself. HEAVY MACHINERY is good stuff.
I used to run the yard at the Cat dealership in St Louis. These, and D-10s always took a pretty light touch to load. They really have to be centered just so-so. These, and backing two scraper pans attached to a Caterpillar Challenger onto a trailer was also kinda tricky. Fun times. Glad I'm retired.
It's strange seeing one with the cab off. It used to be typical of most heavy equipment for there to be no cab, but after 30+ years of seeing everything with cabs, it's just bizarre. Like looking backwards into the 1960s.
Yes, I knew that. I have a few books on heavy equip't but had never actually seen video of one in its partially knocked-down state. Very strange. Also bizarre: video of a large dump bed being transported without the truck. Knowing what it is doesn't stop it being peculiar as it goes down the road.
If It's a regular D11R then it'll weigh something like 230,000 pounds, if its the Carrydozer version then it weighs something like 248,000 pounds IIRC.
Not removed, not put on yet, but for that reason though. The dump trucks get delivered with no bucket and missing one set of rear tyres for that reason too
Awww crap!...just when i thought my Tonkas were winning and safe in ma sand pit ...you bought in this toy...sorry thing...sorry machine...sorry...Awww crap again
i need something like this in ROR. P.S. if you don't know what i mean its RigsofRods a soft body physics game look it up and download, donate and play its really fun
I'm interesting to study this career!!! it's my first time I love something like that!! well, i am trying to do test to study!! it can be free if I'll make a good test, but I dunno yet about it i just start knoing about it!!! so if someone can help me, thanks!! :) My name is Juan
Why don't they just ship it by air? Roll it into a C-5 and off you go! You don't even have to land to off load. Just shove it out the rear ramp and let the parachutes set it down softly on the job site. That would be quite a site, seeing this thing floating gently through the sky...damn, I am a fucking genius! Why don't people take me serious?
would you like to pay for the jet fuel and the cost of all the equipment needed to move this beast. you would still need to load it on to a lowboy to get it to the airport and I dont think the air force would even think about wasting the time and fuel just to drop a dozer out of the sky to a construction site

damn never seen one with roll protection and the blade/ripper off....but the one they use on the mountain here never go anywere else so .......
Just an FYI, it would have been a lot more interesting watching the truck hook up to the trailer than the cat sitting there didling...

I guess that thing weighs in at about 150,000 lbs. or 75 tons. Am I close?
The tracks don't even touch the lowboy because that isn't a lowboy. It's a beam trailer.

Probably. Where I live the maximum height is 14'6" or so, since the telephone wires are 15' off the ground.

+strayfoxairsoft not to mention the need to get it back out of the construction site with said lowboy and back to the airport.
Robert Rutherford exactly makes no sense to air lift
+strayfoxairsoft Somebody needs a sense of irony.
