Hey, this is only about 20 miles from my house. We got BOLDERS everywhere! Used to watch them building I-15 freeway as a kid. Family would take a bike ride on it on Sunday's when there was no work being done. Brings back memories watching this.

I know the D11 is bigger, and I've seen a lot of D9's being hauled around on flat beds fully assembled while driving around Northern Nevada and California BUT, seeing a D10 parked in the CAT rental/dealership parked next to all the other CAT machinery for the first time really made me realize how massive it is and that's why it's my favorite large bulldozer. I think the JD 950K with the PAT blade is my second favorite.

CAT built 7 prototype D10's back in the 70's. They were the worlds first high drive Dozers. One was sent out to the New Melonies dam project in northern Calif and my uncle was the equipment manager for the job. One weekend he took my father, a retired Navy Seabee heavy equipment operator and my grandfather a retired heavy mechanic out to see the new beast. They were absolutely amazed. Of course my crotchety old granddad bitched about how would you change the transmission. We just smiled and explained it's up out of the mud and you won't need to.

I want to know what happens next with the rock? Do they push it off to the side and blow it into pieces with explosives? Have a big... something? pick it up and put it on a truck so it can live somewhere else?

Awesome work!!! Heavy dozer for sure!!! ...just be good if these big dozers could have a 'de-activation switch' ...for the 'reverse Beep Beep Beep' etc...All day hearing that ouch!?! ...ok in city where most buildings are 'sound proofed' But definitely not ok in 'suburbia' though!?! =] One day the hard working man in suburbia will have the same comfort as being in a sound proof building!?!

Good operator, but a multi shank ripper for this type of work is not good. Single shank has twice the bite

Why waste all that time digging that out when your fill is above it? That's almost 10 minutes you could've been pushing grade with, no?
