    Grady Whites command a premium and they are built well. Spend the time and money to fix it and it will be worth quite a bit of money.

    This model Sailfish and the 20 Ft walk around called the Overnighter, made Grady the company it is. The Sailfish was designed as a wide beam tuna/shark offshore boat with outboards, so called pocket rockets, at a time when outboards were unreliable, so twins made it acceptable to go off shore that far and fast and get back safe, long before there was SeaTow and TowboatUS. 205 gals fuel plenty. Everyone else copied both boats and still do. I had both model Gradys. The 20 footer with a 150hp, was so much boat for just 20 FT, even slept in the cabin many nights. Could go out in windy cold tough conditions - stayed dry had full enclosure. Good luck. I restored my ‘92 Sailfish Sportbridge 92, 252g, let me know if you have any questions.

    just got rid of a grady white offshore 240 i9jn similar condition, a friend bought it off theresa earnhart in 2011 and we got it running took it out a few times, was nice in the water. then he moved away and left it sit in my driveway from 2013 till just a couple months ago, it was in similar shape after those 7 years sitting. transom cracked, engines (2-150 mariners) turned but need work, soft floors, trim motors locked up etc.

    I had an 88 trophy pro. That boat would go 100 miles off NJ for 3 or 4 days sometimes. If you put new motors and spruce it up you could easily get 40 to 50 grand. No problem. Those boats are battleships and anyone that knows solid fishing boats will tell you that boat is one of a kind

Same layout and everything. Mine is a 1984. I wish mine came with those two engines! Mine came with 1 225hp johnson ocean pro. Everything is solid on mine. Already a given that it needs a new transom. Cockpit sole was cored with balsa wood and most likely in need of replacement. Suggest employing a marine surveyor to use a moisture meter and sound the hull sides as in these years I believe they were also balsa cored and had water intrusion issues. Aluminum tanks are going to need replacement and when removed you will be able to examine the structural bulkheads and stringers. Huge project and still an old boat when finished. I wish you the best...

    That’s a 25 foot Grady White Trophy Pro. I own a 1988 similar to yours, (although mine has the enclosed transom) but of course I keep mine in excellent “like new” condition.
    These are GREAT boats, very seaworthy and safe in rough seas. One of the best offshore day-trip boats ever produced. Drifts stern to the seas, doesn’t roll excessively due to its variable rise hull, cuts the chop for a smooth ride with judicial use of the Bennett trim tabs, and trolls a smooth turbulent free wake. A proven fish catcher!
    Fix it up and NEVER sell it if you love fishing!

    I rebuilt em myself for less than 150 bucks...There's a lot of work there my friend. Really what you have is a hull and a trailer. If you want to make that thing look really good in about 10 minutes....Go to Home Depot and get some 30 second spray on cleaner. You can get a 2 gallon jug for cheap! Good luck...God bless...

    Grady-White. Good hull. Transom work can be absolutely miserable. Dig all the down to the floor stringers before fiber glassing anything. Wood stringers rot and the floor may have to be rebuilt before anything else. $10. You didn't get hurt, unless you don't have the time for this.

    on that $10 boat video question for you when you eventually poured the expanding foam in hull and then decided to trim off the excess. you then proceeded to put an coating of fiberglass resin on the foam surface where you cut the foam off was that to seal the foam and prevent water from soaking into the cell foam again. I was wondering if when you cut the foam whether the water will then soak into the foam if you don't seal where you cut the foam.

    The paint in the bottom is “the bottom job”. It’s a marine bio paint so you can leave it in water for long periods of time. So algae & barnacles don’t grow on it while it’s sitting. I’ve had multiple Mercs. I’ve always gone to premixing. 50-1. They smoke allot at an idle speed. But can handle the Rpm. Grady whites are solid boats and have a good following. Do it right and you won’t loose too much money. 😜 good luck!

    I believe they are 225hp motors, same block as 200 Hp. The hull is rated max 400, so be careful. Looks like a late 80s Sailfish. If you do full conversion, may want to convert to full transom and twin flotation bracket. Chances are stringers and bulkheads are shot, probably both or one gas tank. I have a 92 Sailfish.

    • @shotslife
      @shotslife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting about the hull rating for horsepower... I had no idea. It’s a 25 Trophy, very similar to the Sailfish. The motors are 235s, wonder if that the same block as well?

    • @robertp7209
      @robertp7209 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shots Life - Trophy has a different cabin design, as I recall, same hull. Only know of big block V6 Johnson/ Evinrude at 200 and 225Hp. Smaller block V6 was 150 and 175. They did make a V8, 300 HP for a spell. It had not one but two VRO pumps 😳.

  • @stevej00
    @stevej00 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Pre SeaVee2 hull GW can be found everywhere cheap. The model plate on the side of the cabin will give you a clue on the length. Most are still very solid boats. Sunk on land...that may be a junker. Looks like a 25 sailfish.

      Look at Amazon just try to stay away from west marin that will be the most expensive store to shop at check with you local boat owners see what they use but make sure if you do buy wood make sure its marine grade use 405 to make peanutbutter and 406 for silica find the 24 gram matt id you xant find that the 17 grams would work messure the width and the length of the wood and poor a couple of good coats of resin till the wood has pleanty of penetration then start laying the material better of having all the fiberglass material cut amd numbered ahead of time that why it leave you just enough time for the kick off and set up when rolling nake sure to get all the air bubbles out before you place the next layer on but that's a great boat you got rides just as good if not better than a mako
