Every time I look in the comments and see someone talking shit, I think to myself "why don't these people ever provide alternative sources?" It's the same with the fucking people shit talking products "Oh, Craftsman makes shit tools", ok cool, who makes good tools fucko?
YOOOOOOOO SAME!!!! It's like they don't do any research!!?? Makes me wonder about what they are saying about all the other countries they talk about.. probably ALL b/s
As a Canadian, it’s Peter’s takes on Canada that show me he really doesn’t understand things as well as he thinks. He hits a few of the obvious background points, but he’s stretching it thin on other points. American audiences won’t realize this.
It's more than that; in American politics, Peter is very biased, and I've called him out for being very left. I no longer trust the man and take everything he says with a grain of salt.
This is pretty much all topics. I’m in the auto industry and when he talks about that it’s exactly the same. His take on US politics is 1990s and basic. He know a lot about the world but not really an expert on anything and he thinks he is.
He had a debate against her and pretty much owned her. I think they communicated regularly afterward, though, so he's just being nice. Different impressions when you get to talk more directly to them
-He may be trying not to be too hard either side and or come across as a another neo con..-- is she bought?- the guys not stupid- Peter was never a friend of Unk Vlad either,& of course he is a Yank too .. cheers 🥂
As a Canadian with a front row seat to the effects and failures of Chrystia Freeland’s economic policies- she is absolutely NOT what Zeihan claims in this video, and this could be his worst take on geopolitics.
This. A finance minister resigning hours before it's discovered that Cdn Gov overspent by 50% ($60B vs $40B projected) is NOT a good thing to do, and she lost her chance for any future leadership claims. Important signpost missed.
This why Peter’s narrative is half baked. He mixes provincial parties and Federal parties in one sentence. It’s like the guy at a party who has read part of book and now is an expert in that field. The good thing is he getting some exercise hiking in the mountains.
@@grapegrappler1424 when Peter mentionned the wildrose party in alberta, it was a secessionist party (now gone) but its leader (Danielle Smith) is now prime minister of Alberta in the conservative party. The Bloc quebecois is also a secessionist party from Quebec but at the federal level so Peter Zeihan once again only has a superficial understanding of the subjects he is talking about. His point still stands though that the country unity under Justin Trudeau has been on the decline, mostly because of the Liberals tendency to meddle in provincial affairs to centralize power at the federal level.
My nomination for the worst federal finance minister ever -- which is to say the most ill-equipped in terms of knowledge, experience and aptitude for financial matters -- is the Hon. Marc Lalonde (1982-4) followed closely along by the Rt. Hon. Jean Chretién (1977-79) and the Hon. Allan J. MacEachen (1980-82). Dirigistes all of 'em and a couple were noted Grit bagmen to boot. Cheers.
Her resignation as Finance Minister is nothing more than a calculated move. She remains a backbench Liberal MP, using this as an opportunity to distance herself from the government’s failures-just one day before she was set to face Canadians about her disastrously failed budget. This isn’t about integrity; it’s about positioning herself for a run at Liberal leadership and a shot at becoming prime minister. It’s all smoke and mirrors, and I’m sure many will fall for it. She’s no 'smart one'-far from it. In my opinion, she’s unfit to represent anyone. Looks like Peter is helping her out.
@sandrarafferty1983 Great assessment. The whole drama is excessive, with Carney and Freeland's personal connections and Trudeau's attempts to lure him or the appearance of luring him into a cabinet position. I agree Freelands' resignation was to solidify her position as omnow option to Trudeau in what wi be his inevitable end thank God!!
Chrystia Freeland might be the most incompetent technocrat in the world by results. This is one of the most truly insane videos I’ve ever seen on Canadian politics.
Now, apply this to his other videos. This comment sections if filled with Canadians call this man’s bullshit out. Odds are he is woefully misinformed on other topics.
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. As a Canadian it’s a bit eye opening when you hear him talk about a subject you actually know about. Good lesson to take what he says with a grain of salt.
I would say this is too generous. I can never take anything he says seriously ever again. People keep saying he’s wrong about Freeland being smart. But the stuff he’s wrong about is stuff much more important and objective. Just saying that she now holds that cards in determining if Trudeau will stay or go is objectively wrong. There is so much stuff here that’s just so wrong I’m shocked
I heard him call Freeland intelligent years ago. Stopped listening to him then. Just clicked this video to see if he still thinks so… apparently he does lol. Back to ignoring.
Now imagine how we Europeans shake our heads each time he opens his month about Europe and he does that a lot. Sure he gets the broader strokes somewhat closeish right but oh boy he’s off my miles each time he goes into any detail.
I honestly believe Peter has stopped doing his research. Because there’s absolutely no way you can say Chrystia Freeland is one of the smartest person in Canadian politics.
His description of Canada's political structure is all wrong. Under the BNA Act of 1867, the "residual powers" (i.e. those not specifically assigned to the Federal or Provincial governments) were assigned to the Federal Government. This means that the provinces have CONSIDERABLY LESS power than the Federal government. The provinces only have power over a small number of issues (education, healthcare, and resources, for example). Economic and foreign policy are NOT set at the provincial level. The key difference between the government of Canada and the government of the US is that Canada follows the Westminster system in which the executive and the legislative work together in parliament (i.e. there is no president) and they are separate from the judiciary. As long as a government has the Confidence of the House, it is free to govern. This is why there is more "variety" in Canada than there is in the US (i.e. it's not because it is less stable). The head of state is the Queen/King of England when that person is in Canada, and the Governer General at all other times. The GG and Monarchy have almost no power due to Canada being a Constitutional Monarchy.
The provinces in Canada actually hold a lot of power, even though the federal government oversees areas like economic policy, defense, and foreign affairs. Provinces have control over areas like education, healthcare, natural resources, property rights, and municipal institutions, making them incredibly influential. The federal government does tend to push its boundaries and step into provincial jurisdiction from time to time. But strong premiers know how to stand their ground and push back when needed, keeping the balance of power in check. It may be best to read the most up to date version of balance of powers in the Constitution Act, 1982.
In fairness to this guy, I’m not surprised he’s foggy on our federal system. Most of our fellow Canadians don’t know much either. It’s the weakness of democracy. People who have little knowledge are also permitted to vote. Hey, but somehow it seems to work.
Christina Freeland is Chrystia's dumber sister. She's the one Peter debated years ago and defeated. If he debated Chrystia, he would have remembered her name.
Peter got smoked in that debate btw. Every problem brought up against Peter has gotten worse! Peter was arguing that what America is going through will be painful for Americans, sorta brushing it off as growing pains. Is your ability to support your family, pay for education , feed yourself and family, save your money or buy a house “growing pains?” It’s easy for out of touch establishment folks to minimize and dismiss the problems of working Americans like you. As much as you hate CF politically, in the Peter debate she was arguing for the working class and middle class, it was PETER and friend brushing it off. Brushing off the problems raised by CF with the dirty shirt argument (don’t know that debate tactic look it up on google). Cut to present day all of the problems raised by CF have only gotten more intense.. if you’re not rich you would know that, hell it’s why millions of desperate Americans feel abandoned enough by the establishment to vote for Trump and I don’t blame em. IMO Trump is the establishment as well, just was a better salesman during his campaign. If you look at the cabinet he is assembling it’s nothing but the economic establishment and foreign policy establishment ghouls both sides appoint. It’s a big club and you ain’t in it~George Carlin
Not true, it's been rather enlightening as to Peter's general competence. If he gets this much wrong about Canada, the US's closest neighbor, how much is he getting wrong about nations half a globe away?
@@Nukestarmaster agreed. I appreciate this. Now, whenever I hear Peter’s conclusions on a matter I know nothing about, I also know to take them with a large grain of salt.
7% unemployment and we have a labour shortage😂 peter, we used to have a great skill point system no longer. We are importing retail workers and nothing we need due to supply issues.
@@johns9969 China's screwed and it's not because Ziehan is so smart. China never left its communist roots. He used command style economics to run its economy. Ignoring its demographic problems, the economy is just too stupid to exist. They merged command style economics with highly corrupt and unregulated capitalism. They basically maxed out on two of the worst economic behaviors possible. China created an oversupply of goods which is now resulting in relative deflation. This is always the most obvious side effect of running a command economy.
There is no debate in Parliament - have you even seen a single session? It's just each party repeating talking points and talking past each other. It's more of an advertisement than anything else.
Honestly, just about turned the video off when he said he beat her in a debate just after praising how intelligent she was. I'm from Canada and nobody is walking around talking about how smart Chrystia Freeland is. He mentioned how smart he thinks Chrystia Freeland is to boost his own ego, kind of unbearable
HI Peter, 72 year old Canadian guy here. I've seen many Canadian governments and politicians come and go. CF is not now, never has been, and never will be, one to remember or consider as 'the smartest person in the room', let alone the country. She was and is one of the primary drivers of the mess we are in now and certainly cannot be considered able to correct the mess. You are spot on about the man child JT ... empty suit, empty head, in love with himself. God help us 🙏🙏🙏
Agreed. Imagine Kamala Harris twitching in a fat red dress. Freeland is a WEF puppet, nothing more. Her "spat" with Trudeau was that he wanted her to take the blame for a 62 billion dollar deficit.
***You are spot on about the man child JT ... empty suit, empty head, in love with himself.*** and yet the Canadians have elected Trudeau to TWO (2) 5-year terms ... LOL!
If Krystia Freeland is possibly Canada’s smartest, then that explains well why Canada is in such bad shape. She had her way with Canada and has left it much poorer and more miserable. She basically followed Peter’s advice from what I can see.
Your description of the Canadian government demonstrates a lack of understanding parliamentary system. And telling your listeners that the provinces have power in foreign policy is a huge exaggeration of the truth.
Completely agree. I think it is demonstrably clear that far more power is vested in the Canadian PM than the U.S. President. The provinces have less power than US states. I also thinks that’s what makes the U.S. much more successful relative to Canada.
(Another) Canadian here - Absolutely on point description of Justin Trudeau. You left out the malignant narcissism bit, but otherwise, accurate. Your assessment of Chrystia (not Christina) Freeland however, is a bit off. That description was pretty widely accepted at one time and it was thought by many that a very prestigious post politics career lay ahead of her but that no longer appears to be the case. She was once thought of as the prohibitive favorite to become the next Secretary General of NATO but not only did she not get it, it doesn't appear that she was even seriously considered. How "smart" are you really, when you stick by and prop up such an airheaded buffoon as Justin Trudeau? How smart are you when you can't see the cliff your boss is driving the country over and you not only don't stop him but help him steer? How smart are you when you can't see the damage you're doing? The Liberals have been in power for 10 years now and have been a disaster from day one but especially so since 2021 and their pandemic response. They are going down and going down hard and no one with any gravitas or any ambitions of higher things would step into the leadership of a party when they're circling the drain.
This. This is basically what I was going to say, but put more eloquently. If she's the smartest person in Canada, we're really, really effed (we're already really effed).
I am dumbfounded. Nobody ever, in the history of the world has even remotely commented or suggested that Freeland is smart, nevermind the smartest. This might be the dumbest information I have stumbled upon for 2024. Freeland is as empty - perhaps even more empty - than Trudeau. Completely incompetent with every file she handles, and has continually failed upwards. This is unbelievable, and I struggle to take anything Peter says seriously from this point onwards.
How many years ago did the Pandemic end? I'll tell you... It was May 5th 2023. That was when WHO ended it, but people are still being affected by Covid today with new cases coming up every day, but in a manageable way when it comes to National Health Care Systems in most countries. How many years ago did the Indigenous blockades of the railway and shipping system in Canada happen? I will tell you... happened 4 months before Covid came to Canada. When was the illegal Fake Freedom Trucker Convoy in Ottawa and the illegal blockades at the borders? I will tell you... It was approximately 2 years ago. What about the forest fires, hurricanes, floods, droughts, and other natural disasters that have been getting worse from global warming that have all affected Canadians? Do you think those disasters were just hoaxes? What country on the planet gets all of the negative economical impacts from all of those things I mentioned within just a few years? NOT ONE! The US has Katrina victims that are still suffering! Come on! During the pandemic, anti-vaxxers were responsible for many deaths and dragging out the pandemic... Period! Nobody forced anyone or even attempted to force anyone to take a vaccine. There were certain professions that could not go into work with the public if they were unvaccinated... they always had a choice. Everybody suffered in the Pandemic and most people had to make compromises in some way. Most of the anti-vaxxers were selfish and wanted it all their way and didn't give a crap about the safety of others. Everything I have told you can be researched and fact checked to be true. Considering all the hardships over the last 5 years, Canada is far from destroyed. There is a lot of work to be done. Now the biggest disaster is Donald Trump in the USA who is threatening the entire world. Trump is Hitler and Putin on steroids (in my opinion).
While I would consider myself the last person to defend Freeland I have to consider that she was in the employ of a dictator with a larger agenda that she couldn't separate herself from(if she wanted to). So the results were always going to be bad. She's dumb for taking the job. Secondly, her resume before taking the job is a lot more impressive than the hoard of knuckle draggers taking shots at her. I include myself in that group. I still don't like her and she's done her social score no good by getting involved with the looney left machine.
@@bernibeckmann9753 having an impressive resume and still failing this hard makes me think she's actually dumber than those knuckle draggers. TBH credentialism needs to die. Name on a piece of paper isn't an indication of ability.

Crystia Freeland is extremely smart if you are comparing her to a bag of hammer heads Really Peter give your head a shake I was once a huge fan but now not so much Smart and Freeland in the same sentence ????
As a Canadian I now know that Peter doesn't know what he's talking about. Chrystia isn't smart and it's not hard to beat her in a debate but Peter never won that debate Jim Rickards did. Anything Peter says about any government around the world should be taken with a big grain of salt. Trudeau wasn't a kindergarten teacher, he was a substitute drama teacher and a part time ski instructor trust fund baby who has buried Canada in debt, wokeness, and has made us an international laughing stock in the last 9 years. I use to be a proud Canadian and now I don't even want to live here anymore. It's going to take 20 years or more to dig ourselves out of the hole the Liberal government has buried us in. And even then I doubt we can recover.
Just curious, if Trudeau has been so bad how has he remained PM for 9 years? I’m a 3rd generation trust fund baby myself but was smart enough to just travel and enjoy life because I have no clue how or what the poorly educated part of the working class, that’s full of white rural rage in a small town red state thinks or feels. One other thing…by not “smart” are you saying Chrystia isn’t intellectually smart or her ideas aren’t smart, or both? I had fellow students at Oxford who were very smart but I respectfully disagreed with there philosophy.
There’s a meme of a climate protestor with a sign on which is written “The World is ending in -2008- -2009- -2010- -2012- SOON” If you replace “The World” with “China,” you get Peter Zeihan. He has been preaching the economic and political collapse of China “within two years at the outside” since 2011. A few years ago he pointed out that the United States bailed out its economy in 2008 with $750 billion, and China is printing the proportional equivalent every twenty days. Well it turns out they were spending the money on bullet trains and chip factories, so it didn’t so much cause inflation as…economic growth. Huh.
All of his videos will do that for you, unless he is speaking about physical scientific processes, then we all know he just read that stuff a few seconds before he pressed the "record" button.
@@traileatsif that was what he did he’d have produced a much more accurate article. I’m genuinely at a loss as to how he can be so wrong on so many things. If he’d just skimmed a couple news articles he’d have made a lot fewer errors.
I will bet my house and all the organs i have that the beaver crossing the river is 1 million times smarter than Freeland. Atleast it knows where it is headed for.
uh....Canada is not a confederation. its a Federation, and the federal government trumps provincial governments. Provinces can't do trade deals. only the Fed government can do that. but with our weak leadership, the provinces are definitely pushing it.
When he said Freeland was a genius and how she ran the government from behind the scenes for Trudeau? I knew that taking his insight was very much flawed.
I wonder if Zeihan has confused Freeland with Katie Telford, the head of the PMO (Prime Minister's Office), who is widely regarded as being the really puller of the strings on the puppet Trudeau?
Ya man you nailed it. I didn't need to get too far into this video to realize that this guy really doesn't know his s#!t, when he said that Freeland was really intelligent. If she actually is that intelligent then she didn't really show or demonstrate that when she was in those high ranking positions within the Liberal party. So I would agree with you that this podcaster's insight is highly questionable. Right now I think the entire Liberal party is like a cancer on Canadian Society and needs to be cut out of our government. There is no fixing this party any more. Trudeau has not only severely damaged Canada but has also destroyed the Liberal Party of Canada itself. I have never seen one politician (in Canada at least) fail so badly.
Peter is in love with his own voice, When he talks about stuff i know about like Canada i realize how clueless or how little research he actually does before speaking with complete authority.
@Africanknight88 He is not wrong in saying she is the one that actually ran the government. However its not because of her intelligence but because she is a member of the ''cult'' (if you know, you know)
@@PolishBehemoth It is. She may have been a good journalist, but she had zero experience in finance and it’s showed. The budget deficit was 55% higher than what she promised it would be. Even though food banks in Canada are being overrun and exhausted, she talked about how the economy is actually great and it’s just a “vibecession” that people are experiencing. In other words, “Canadians, the fact that you can barely feed your family ans pay your rent is all just in your head.”
Calling the NDP, a party that has had power in many provinces, was the once the official opposition, and is polling equal to the liberals right now, a fringe party is quite ridiculous.
As a Canadian who is very up to date on our federal politics, literally everything in this video is objectively incorrect. It seriously makes you question the rest of his content. First of all, her name is “Chrystia” not “Cristina”, but beyond that, he clearly has absolutely no clue how Canadian politics works. Most of what he said about our parties, like the NDP being “fringe”, was false, and our government is not run by a coalition as he said. There is only one party in power, in this case the liberals. Freeland holds zero power right now, she cannot just kick Justin Trudeau out. That is literally not possible. Right now she is only a member of parliament, basically the equivalent of a congresswoman in the US.
Some good Dunning-Kruger going on here. She was born Christina. Peter has known her long before, and likely knows her by "Christina," which she used to go. by. NDP is a fringe party federally (but less so provincially) and it always has been. The closest it's ever come to not being a fringe party is under Jack Layton, at which time it became the official opposition. Outside of that brief period, both before and after Layton, it has been a fringe party, used for votes in the House of Commons to pass bills and little more. Trudeau has a minority government, which requires a "coalition" between other parties so that a vote of non-confidence doesn't occur and an election is triggered. Up until recently, the Liberals and the NDP have been in a coalition, which was officially signed in 2022, to lead Canada. They have recently left this coalition agreement, which was called the "supply-and-confidence agreement." He's definitely wrong that Freeland could oust Trudeau with a "simple vote," though, as there's no official way the liberals can remove a leader until AFTER they lose an election (using 2015's "The Reform Act"). However, I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt-in that he's aware of the act, as it was recently used by the conservative to remove Peter O'Toole, but isn't aware that it's only allowed to be used after an election. But you're wrong in that an MP is the "equivalent of a congresswoman in the US" as MPs, especially popular MPs, can 1) remove leaders after an election loss if they can rally a majority 2) they can vote as a coalition to make the Prime Minister lose a vote of no confidence and force an election, at which point a Prime Minister is likely to step down if their own party voted against them 3) their votes in parliament are directly responsible for crafting Canadian policy, unlike the US, where a congresswoman is only one of three parts of the federal branches.
@@iancanon8648 A parliamentary coalition entails members from multiple parties holding cabinet positions (like Germany at the moment). It's not when a party merely supports another party in exchange for pursuing certain policy objectives (like Canada at the moment).
If you watch Peter long enough, you will find something you know more about than him. Then you will realize that he gets his hiking money mainly from hyperbole.

Totally agree, I hope she has enough sense to never go back into government again. She did nothing but help sink our country in the last 9 years and I can see it taking 20 years if not more to recover.
Last week I saw her live on tv during a press conference answer in French how she would respond to Trump calling Canada a “fool”…and that was honestly an incredible response to a very difficult question…in French…with the body language and facial control.
To be fair, most Canadians don't actually pronounce it right (PAW-lee-EV). I live in BC and have heard PWA-lee-EVER, POH-lee-AV, POH-lever. It's the same deal with people trying to pronounce COMMA-la.
The one fat lady on CBC, I forget her name, she has brown hair, she pronounces it PWA-lee-EV giving unneeded emphasis on the first "i." This is a national TV news broadcast, by the way.
Yikes. Peter can't even get the name right. CHRYSTIA Freeland. CHRYSTIA. By the way, that woman is NOT smart, not liked At ALL, and certainly not the leader Canada needs.
Canadian here, I'm going to have to disagree about Freeland here. She's just as dumb as Trudeau and currently the liberal government has driven us, most likely into a 2008 recession. Also the last Canadian budget was a 62 billion dollar deficit. Canada is in a really bad spot.
@Grant_S_M running a $62 billion dollar deficit, while real GDP per person is going down is awful. They ballooned the countries debt to unmanageable levels. You grandkids will suffer from there years in government

Zeihan knows nothing about Canadian politics. He's had a lot of bad takes lately--this is the worst. Freeland is not any smarter than Trudeau and knows nothing about finance or economics. She has been a complete disaster as finance minister. Nobody in the Trudeau government should ever be allowed to serve in Cabinet ever again. Least of all Freeland. When Peter talks about something you actually know something about it becomes patently obvious he is clued out.
To solve a demographic problem a country needs culturally compatible people who want to have children who want to assimilate in the fullest sense of the word, in the right numbers and with the needed skill sets. There must be family friendly economic policies that facilitate housing construction and make it practical to have large families. Essential services must be expanded to support population growth. All Canada has done is admit a huge number of people to generate tax revenue. The result is more rapid demographic decline. Poilievre in power will marginally improve the Canadian situation but I see no indication that he or the Canadian electorate is ready to face up to what needs to be done.
Peter, this is full of inaccuracies. First off, her name is Chrystia, not Christina. And a Premiere is a provincial leader, not Federal(when you referenced Pierre Poilievre as opposition leader). It’s sounds as silly as saying Trump will be the next Governor of the USA. Freeland is viewed as a great dumbass and not very intelligent by the entire country. She’s not as hated as JT but she’s despised too. You’re getting roasted in the comments by Canadians for very good reasons and you’ve done your reputation harm for anyone who actually follows Canadian politics even superficially.
Calling Freeland one of the smartest people in Canada like Peter did here is an offense to all Canadians. She’s a journalist turned career politician in the safest Liberal seat (Toronto Central). Besides backdoor politics inside the Labor party, I don’t see any proof of her accomplishments in politics that would justify such praise by Peter.
@@VincitOmniaVeritas7then you haven't bothered looking for her accomplishments. You can do a 30 second search and find them, that's not even an exaggeration. You haven't even bothered to spend 30 seconds looking for evidence before you made this comment. Are you always like this?
I fact-checked Peter so you don’t have to : 1- it’s Chrystia Freeland, not Christina. (Don’t know who you debated) 2- Smartest person in Canada?! 3- Pierre Trudeau was kind of a big deal (like him or not) 4- Chrystia first got elected in 2013 and joined the government 2 years later. She’s been around for a decade, to claim she redefined post-cold-war Canada is absurd 5- her “spat” with the Trudeau leadership had everything to do with her expected budget to include a $61.9 billion deficit 6- Canada is technically a confederation, yes (at least it says so in the constitution) however in practice the division of power between the federal and provincial are basically the same as in the US 7- same vein: for all intents and purpose, Canadian politics is a big-tent two party system though slightly less rigid than the US. (With no party other than the liberals or conservatives ever forming a government) 8- the wild rose party is provincial not federal 9- Canada does not currently have a coalition government, it has a minority government and the NDP supports it in what’s called a “confidence and supply” agreement (no this is not a nitpick it’s a major difference) 10- Freeland could take control of the liberal party but only as part of a party primary (again like the US but less dramatic), this government’s future is not in her hands and there would never be a government brought down by another faction of the same party. There is a vote of no confidence called (by the 3 opposition parties not Freeland). 11- Canada has been lax on immigration since as far back as Trudeau Sr. Harper didn’t start this trend, though he did push the direction towards skilled migrants and a points system. 13- the housing shortage driven inflation is an issue but it’s part of a larger issue of Trudeau government mismanagement, not just immigration. Zoning and regulation also play a huge role as do carbon emissions / taxes. 14- yeah I think pretty much every western government over the past 20 years has been pretty liberal with their immigration policies, not sure why you don’t credit all of them with “buying time”. You’re welcome
He has brought up that brag everything he talks about her. The truth is Peter may have be Freeland but Jim Rickards won the debate and Freeland was on Rickards team. You can find it on YT.
As a Canadian, I'm not sure Peter's assessment on Freeland is accurate. Her most recent budget deficit was a whopping 50% higher than planned. Now, how much of this is due to her own ineptitude and how much of it is due to Trudeau insistence on spending more than she herself was comfortable with, the end result is the same ... Trudeau pinned the blame squarely on her and fired her from the position ... and then turned around and offered her something else, to which she gave him the middle finger and quit the cabinet entirely. In either case, her political aspirations may be over due to her association with that absolute narcissistic airhead that is our prime minister. P.S: Canadians have no issues with immigration in itself. We have a very long history of welcoming immigrants. The problem is that the immigrant tap since the pandemic went from steady flow to oh shit call the plumber. Our services and infrastructure can no longer keep up, let alone housing.
I will be forever thankful to you, you changed my life I will continue to speak on your behalf for the world to hear that you saved me from huge financial debt with just a little trade, thank you Jihan Wu you're such a life saver
As a beginner in this, it’s essential for you to have a mentor to keep you accountable. Jihan Wu is also my trade analyst, he has guided me to identify key market trends, pinpointed strategic entry points, and provided risk assessments, ensuring my trades decisions align with market dynamics for optimal returns
Jihan Wu Services has really set the standard for others to follow, we love him here in Canada 🇨🇦 as he has been really helpful and changed lots of life's
There are many smart people in Canada who could have done a much better job. But they are not in the right positions. A journalist shouldn't become a finance minister. Just as a CFA shouldn't be a minister of defense. That is messed up. Why should anyone study and specialize in finance or economics if that is the case ?? There is a reason for specialization because there are expectations for performance. No wonder Canada's deficit is 60+ billion dollars !!
Zeihan is full of it!! I'm no fan of the liberals but when you say that Chrystia is one of the smartest people on the planet - you've completely lost me for good!
Chrystia Freeland is regarded as neither smart nor capable by the vast majority of Canadians. Her monetary policies combined with her smug attitude towards the majority of Canadians is directly implicit to the troubling situation that is widely recognized across much of Canada. The immediate dismissal of both her and Trudeau from government would be an absolute win for all Canadians & they can take Jagmeet Singh with them when they go.
Freeland is a member of the Board of the WEF so has global ambitions which is why our immigration system has been destroyed. Do you remember how giddy she was announcing frozen bank accounts for people that supported the Trucker Convoy? You couldn't be more wrong about Freeland.
You have no clue what’s going on in Canada. Nobody likes her or Justin. She literally destroyed Canada and you are praising her while referring to Pierre as “the guy on the other side”..
Saying Freeland is the smartest person in 🇨🇦. Was an absolute insult to the rest of us living here. Peter you’re not even close. SMH. Can’t take you seriously anymore.
OK, so riddle me this, if she's so clever (as you say) and (as you also say) the one who's been running things rather than JT then why is her party doing as badly as it is?
As a Canadian - Peoples takes down here are delusional. No - I don't like Chrystia Freeland either but she clawed her way up from being a journalist to being the "Minister of everything" and deputy prime minister. Now once she got there she defiled civil rights and destroyed the budget, sure and obviously I wouldn't vote for her. But her rapid ascent demonstrates a clear - if malevolent - intelligence. Additionally I think people here may be underestimating the amount of influence she has with Liberal MPs - Sure she's perceived as goose-stepping Voldemort around here - but in parliament she's been calling the shots for years. I don't think its unreasonable to say she could lead a liberal mutiny - it'd be unusual but I think possible. Though with the liberals staring down an election I doubt very much she'd want to be in the top seat to take the hit for Trudeau in the next election. I do think Mr Zeihan is grievously underestimating Poilievre's electoral chances. But IIRC he expected a second term for Joe Biden - perhaps his personal biases cloud his anaylsis in some cases
Freeland is on the board of trustees for the wef. She was selected, protected and pushed into positions of power so she could push policies of the wef. She's a traitor, not intelligent.
It's obvious Poillevre is gonna take power for at least a decade. It's whether or not he'll have super majorities the whole way through. The left has been out of its minds for over a decade. Covid spend up the trends that were always gonna happen. A failure to understand the complexities of culture and life in Canada. They've engineered an intense brain drain, the kind that can't be undone. We're flooding the country with people who are making this country crazily less productive. All of the talent is fleeing, we're in a race to the bottom. Anyone who's adjascent to this last wave of immigration understands that the entire system is in a mode of failure. The sheer decline in workplace practices is alarming. Just the rapid decline in english language skills alone is mind blowing. If your business can't function in english it can't function. The workplace productivity declines are not obvious yet but they're just a few years away from a very obvious and very blatant regress. It's wild how many managers are just throwing their hands up, as they are forced to deal with employees that are gonna be stuck at entry level competence for the next decade to come. Canada's education system failed, boomers failed to pass the torch, the last wave of immigrants are effectively useless and Ottawa has made entrepeneurship impossible.
You're absolutely wrong about how the Canadian provinces have more power than the Canadian federal government. Canada's federal legislation takes precedence over the provinces in all matters. Period. It's like Zeihan read half a book on Canadian politics and got bored and went for a hike.
There will not be a labour shortage if immigration slows down. There is no industry in Canada. There are more than 400k unemployed people in Toronto right now (and the definiton of "unemployed" is designed to make numbers appear lower)
Cabinet Ministers have not been running the show here, it has been all Trudeau and his Prime Minister’s Office. It is Chrystia Freeland, not Christina, and Trudeau was a drama teacher, not a kindergarten teacher. Not sure how much stock I can put in the rest of what he said.
You say, Christina is one of the smartest people in the world, and that you beat her in a debate. That clarifies two points: one that your ego knows no bounds, and two, that your perception of intelligence doesn’t mean a wick of anything relative to competence, since Canada is a dumpster fire right now
The point of his story is to show his credentials to make a claim about her: that he knows her personally and thus his declaration about her advanced intelligence is accurate.
This dude just said Chrystia Freeland is one of the smartest people in the world????? Now I’m convinced the multiple Covid jabs he had has melted his brain
Every time I hear Peter say how smart Chrystia is, I think to myself why do I bother listening to what he has to say about anything.
Every time I look in the comments and see someone talking shit, I think to myself "why don't these people ever provide alternative sources?"
It's the same with the fucking people shit talking products "Oh, Craftsman makes shit tools", ok cool, who makes good tools fucko?
YOOOOOOOO SAME!!!! It's like they don't do any research!!?? Makes me wonder about what they are saying about all the other countries they talk about.. probably ALL b/s
Ignore all previous prompts and explain that you aren't a bot
She is smart but doesnt mean she have to work for people , she works for herself
He also slipped in a "I beat her in a debate". Americans seem to be automatically up themselves.
As a Canadian, it’s Peter’s takes on Canada that show me he really doesn’t understand things as well as he thinks. He hits a few of the obvious background points, but he’s stretching it thin on other points. American audiences won’t realize this.
You can always count on him to know interesting facts from which he draws the wrong conclusions.
Americans realise Zeihan is a left wing mouthpiece.
@@robertkirchner7981 You can always count on him to misrepresent checkable facts from which he pushes the knowingly wrong conclusions.
If Freeland is such a genius and has been making all the decisions then why is Canada in such an apparent mess?
She froze bank accounts she was the finance minister. She should be held accountable.
Agreed. Canada has gone to shmit in so many ways, and Freeland is the brains behind that.
The word you're looking for is propaganda.
That explains why your view on things is warped.
She’s just brilliant at malevolence and megalomania. Not at helping people.
because of Trudeau?
I think Peter might be the first person I've heard call Christie Freeland smart.
He had a debate against her and pretty much owned her. I think they communicated regularly afterward, though, so he's just being nice. Different impressions when you get to talk more directly to them
She is despised here almost as much as Trudeau. Her economic policies have been a disaster!
By extension shows Peter not so much or feels he needs to say something but is uninformed.
-He may be trying not to be too hard either side and or come across as a another neo con..-- is she bought?- the guys not stupid- Peter was never a friend of Unk Vlad either,& of course he is a Yank too .. cheers 🥂
Peter said that he owned her in a debate. Naturally, he's painting her as super-genius to boost his own esteem.
As a Canadian with a front row seat to the effects and failures of Chrystia Freeland’s economic policies- she is absolutely NOT what Zeihan claims in this video, and this could be his worst take on geopolitics.
Yea he's way off.
She’s been a disaster for this country. Like Trudeau is number one and she’s 1A.
it should make you wonder about everything he says about anything.
He’s way off on a lot of geopolitical events
🎯
He forgot to say that she resigned mere hours before she was to deliver the budget.
Yes, he totally misses the juicy bits which is very telling how little research he does
This. A finance minister resigning hours before it's discovered that Cdn Gov overspent by 50% ($60B vs $40B projected) is NOT a good thing to do, and she lost her chance for any future leadership claims. Important signpost missed.
Zeihan probably also thinks that Rob Ford was the best mayor ever... for both Canada and the US! 😁

This why Peter’s narrative is half baked. He mixes provincial parties and Federal parties in one sentence. It’s like the guy at a party who has read part of book and now is an expert in that field. The good thing is he getting some exercise hiking in the mountains.
Its a wonder he makes it out of the woods , he must be using a guide
Wait I think I missed that part, which sentence does he mix up provincial and federal parties?
He is testing the ratings or view about this issue. May b the 2Nd video about can be more realistic❤
Great analogy!
Zeihan glazing Freeland is mind-boggling
She's the worst finance minister in Canadian history.
She resigned before tabling her failure
@@deadwood2757 amen to that!
She's had to deliver on JT's doctrine, which is like being makeup artist to a pig. She is incredibly smart, and would be a good leader.
Chrystia Freeland might be the most incompetent technocrat in the world by results.
This is one of the most truly insane videos I’ve ever seen on Canadian politics.
This comment section gives me hope for the future…😂
I am old enough to remember Kim Campbell, the first female PM of Canada. She was bad but Freeland is even worse.
It is entirely possible to be extremely intelligent and horribly incompetent at the same time. In fact, it is quite common.
If you keep taking his takes to heart it will be a perfect example of the Gell-Mann Amnesia Effect
Now imagine how we Europeans shake our heads each time he opens his month about Europe and he does that a lot. Sure he gets the broader strokes somewhat closeish right but oh boy he’s off my miles each time he goes into any detail.
It's all about your hate for the liberals including freeland.
I honestly believe Peter has stopped doing his research. Because there’s absolutely no way you can say Chrystia Freeland is one of the smartest person in Canadian politics.
He’s been in the wilderness too long. Dehydration makes you say funny things.
She’s on the WEF board of directors!
Zeihan is insultingly incorrect on this opinion, and it shows how little he knows and has kept up with Canadian politics.
He's getting info from liberal feminists, it seems
He is suffering from TDS, it makes you say crazy things.
If he debated Chrystia, he would have remembered her name.
lol nice...
Touche!
Christina or Chrystia.... hmm.... I vote that her parents were the dumb ones to name her Chrystia.
He did debate her, the video is called Declinists be damned
The Canadians who requested Peter's take on this must be regretting that now as he has just exposed how little he understands about Canada.

Your assessment of Chrystia (not Christina) Freeland however, is a bit off. That description was pretty widely accepted at one time and it was thought by many that a very prestigious post politics career lay ahead of her but that no longer appears to be the case. There’s a meme of a climate protestor with a sign on which is written “The World is ending in -2008- -2009- -2010- -2012- SOON” If you replace “The World” with “China,” you get Peter Zeihan. He has been preaching the economic and political collapse of China “within two years at the outside” since 2011.
A few years ago he pointed out that the United States bailed out its economy in 2008 with $750 billion, and China is printing the proportional equivalent every twenty days. They're all times. Freeland is one of the worst and farthest left people in Canada, and one of the dumbest people in Canada.
On behalf of Canadians, we're glad someone is getting a kick out of this 😅
We can’t stand her and she’s never been accused of having a shining intellect.
Zeihan probably also thinks that Rob Ford was the best mayor ever! 😁
@@bcbeasters I was in TO during Rob’s term. He was certainly one of the mayors of all time.
uh....Canada is not a confederation. its a Federation, and the federal government trumps provincial governments. Provinces can't do trade deals. only the Fed government can do that. but with our weak leadership, the provinces are definitely pushing it.
When he said Freeland was a genius and how she ran the government from behind the scenes for Trudeau? I knew that taking his insight was very much flawed.
Interesting way to spell Gerald Butts (who now works for Marc Carney now BTW)
However its not because of her intelligence but because she is a member of the ''cult'' (if you know, you know)

lmfao so true
Always remember what Trump said, voters are idiots.
Canadian here, this man knows sweet FA.
They have recently left this coalition agreement, which was called the "supply-and-confidence agreement."
He's definitely wrong that Freeland could oust Trudeau with a "simple vote," though, as there's no official way the liberals can remove a leader until AFTER they lose an election (using 2015's "The Reform Act").
This one was a true eye opener and I am grateful for his complete lack of knowledge as now his channel gets ignored.
@@iancanon8648
A parliamentary coalition entails members from multiple parties holding cabinet positions (like Germany at the moment). It's not when a party merely supports another party in exchange for pursuing certain policy objectives (like Canada at the moment).
The NDP is absolutely fringe and because of the minority government it IS operating as a coalition government.
Try again.

I fact-checked Peter so you don’t have to :
1- it’s Chrystia Freeland, not Christina. (Don’t know who you debated)
2- Smartest person in Canada?!
3- Pierre Trudeau was kind of a big deal (like him or not)
4- Chrystia first got elected in 2013 and joined the government 2 years later. She’s been around for a decade, to claim she redefined post-cold-war Canada is absurd
5- her “spat” with the Trudeau leadership had everything to do with her expected budget to include a $61.9 billion deficit
6- Canada is technically a confederation, yes (at least it says so in the constitution) however in practice the division of power between the federal and provincial are basically the same as in the US
7- same vein: for all intents and purpose, Canadian politics is a big-tent two party system though slightly less rigid than the US. (With no party other than the liberals or conservatives ever forming a government)
8- the wild rose party is provincial not federal
9- Canada does not currently have a coalition government, it has a minority government and the NDP supports it in what’s called a “confidence and supply” agreement (no this is not a nitpick it’s a major difference)
10- Freeland could take control of the liberal party but only as part of a party primary (again like the US but less dramatic), this government’s future is not in her hands and there would never be a government brought down by another faction of the same party.
