On his Power 106 interview, he said his next album "Oxymoron" is going to be gangster rap from 1969 when the Crips started to now, so I'm guessing it'll be that aggressive approach you guys were speaking of. I'm thinking more Raymond 1969 tracks, which is nice. Tracks like that reminds me of old Ice Cube / 1993 Snoop etc. ...
Thank You Myke. I'm just getting started with it (I still have to sharpen my pen for it). From where I am, Dead End Hip Hop is very important. I'm not missing noone of your debates, they're all great. Most of the times they make me want to be there with all of you and participate. Good luck with everything!
@encdee We try to maintain a balance because our viewing audience is mixed. We definitely want to give love and shine to underground but we also have to review some of the bigger mainstream releases. For the underground scene, I have to work on finding a balance between the many subsections of hip hop. That is a little bit more challenging with our constraints.
Thanks guys for this review, cause this album is the best album of the year for me. And i would never (or lately) khow about the release. Schoolboy Q is a great mc, black hippy rules
I heard HnC from this channel, and after listening for 4 months now, I can tell you guys that I LOVE this album. This album is just great from start to finish. It is one of the few albums that I can listen to from beginning to end. He has lyrical ability but (IMO) unlike Kendrick, he has a lot of charisma with his delivery, and the production on every track is great. It all ties back together BUT it all sounds different.
@encdee We ask C-Town for album review suggestions. The mainstream artist we cover you know who they are. If you don't know who the other artists are that we review, then that doesn't make them mainstream. That means they are artists that you are not familiar with. Don't worry though, I hear you and already touched on this last week with a few members of the crew for feedback. Thanks for watching and we'll get there.
Bought the album on iTunes back when it was still 18 tracks before they removed Raymond 1969 & Blessed then there was also another song they removed as well so if You buy the album on iTunes now You're getting ripped off.
I never comment but I have to give props to Schoolboy Q and TDE. They have the most unique and realest artists that can achieve mainstream success in the game right now.
@ShawnyBoyKrump sorry, maybe im too slow to "get" the joke, but, i really dont get it *shrugs*...and who is the dude u are referring to that said kdot>q>roc>ab anyway?
After giving the album 3-4 plays I can pretty much agree what you guys are saying. It's pretty good, not like the best but far from bad. Will bump though, production is pretty solid throughout.
I won't lie "Sacrilegious," "My Hatin' Joint" and "There He Go" are dope as fuck. The production is spectacular and I love his delivery. Can't say I'm in love with the album as a whole, but I'd be shocked if anything tops "Sacrilegious" as track of the year for me
@TheCozy3 Well Antipop is still around. Plus, Beans is doing solo shit that is unbelievable. But as far as people doing shit as ground breaking as Antipop or Co Flow, I'd say no. Some of the shit on Uncommon is pretty crazy, though. Check out the Dck Vnngt record. Shit's pretty dope.
Really didn't expect C-Town to like this album.I'm really glad that our opinions are somewhat the same. Also,Sacrilegous,Oxy Music and There He Go are great songs. Also, after this album I realised that I relly hate Dom Kennedy, but still don't know why.
@jspears19 i believe he does have a new album dropping some time soon, but for the people who are just now finding out about ab-soul should check out his last two joints called long term mentality and long term 2
'Sacreligious' and 'Blessed' are deff my favourite tracks on the album, but if i'm in the right mood 'Nightmare on Figg St' gets me hyper. I'd say naturally I gravitate more towards rappers who speak on politics of personal struggles, but sometimes you do need a vicious 'i don't give a fuck' track just to vent. Pretty solid body of work.
@encdee Hmm...man, I feel you.The thing is this is mostly my fault. I don't really give them recommendations too often simply because, to be honest, I'm afraid someone will say something dumb and I'll have to argue with them. Haha...I know it's hard to believe, but I'm kinda sick of arguing. And I know if we reviewed, say, the new Celph Titled and someone made a super wack comparison or a ludicrous criticism I'd have to jump on 'em.
@chris45627 actually, the lane he would take, if any, is being the most abstract about everything he raps about. I feel he is the most open, unique and metaphorical rapper of em all. Creative abstract rhyming is his game.
I say good album, not great. Definitely about 6-8 songs I'll be listening to for a while that caught my eye, especially Sacrilegious and Blessed. I'll give it a 7.5, and great review as always guys!
Myke you do know Heltah Skeltah had a song where they was rapping over Portishead right? Heltah Skeltah - Prowl. So School Boy Q wasn't the first to rap over Portishead.
Everyone in TDE is dope as fuck, Ab-Soul's lyricism is underrated, and though I was a little down on Jay Rock, recently I get him now...And he kills his feature on 2Raw, my god.
@HiResDez For me, you just said it. It wasn't cohesive. Like there are some dope songs on there I fuck with but for the most part, and maybe it was the sequencing, it didn't just really grab me. I walked away lacking something. It's by far not a bad album and I buy anything TDE put out.
@yugang08 Yea like he can go the Andre 3000 lane or something dude is dope so now its on him to drop something since the magnifying glass is on Black Hippy
i dig the album i wanna hear more dark shit from schoolboy q tho same with Ab-soul but i like his swag rap joints i hate swag rap but when Q does its like i can fuck with it without asking myself why
@MrKeepit2000 yeah re-vist the album and see what u come up with cause he definitely got substance in, he just cleverly buried it cause its about, yes say it with me: habits & contradictions haha. Plus i recommend u check out setbacks as well, which has much less of a asap-rocky vibe going on and him being more serious going in talking about some hard stuff and real life shit.
@yugang08 Yea i can see that i he's mad cleaver he just need to release an album at the right time and i think he will get his shine cause he can make bangers and his barz are on point like i dont know why his songs like Moscato and Gone Insane Aren't Hits but i think him and kendrick are at the same level lyrically but AB Outshined him on section 80
Didnt mean to put basically the same thing twice on here but there was an error. Anyway Habits and Contradictions was a decent album to me. Q has his own style which is good but at some parts I felt like I had to keep pushing myself to enjoy it. But overall it was decent. But Section 80 is my favorite. Kendrick is my dude, no homo.
@chris45627 I dont think Ab outshined him but he did go in. I think if kendrick's part was a bit longer then I think it would be equal. But both are great lyrically, Kendrick and Ab.
@yugang08 yea he do i think its because he is trying to find his lane but it feels like the other black hippies filled all of the them Kendrick = Social Commentary he is Micheal Jackson of the Group Jay Rock = Straight up Gangsta Q= Gangsta Swagged out Party Joints And Dark Drug Songs Ab Soul Is dope he Just Need to find his lane and Do More shit as a Solo artist
1:50 Looooooooool is that a picture of Uncle Phil???? xD
On his Power 106 interview, he said his next album "Oxymoron" is going to be gangster rap from 1969 when the Crips started to now, so I'm guessing it'll be that aggressive approach you guys were speaking of. It's a shame it wasn't quite like that. It was a good album but it coulda been more
Good review. Greetings from Portugal , keep up , it's been a pleasure to follow your videos.
Thank You Myke. I'm just getting started with it (I still have to sharpen my pen for it). From where I am, Dead End Hip Hop is very important. Schoolboy Q - Blessed featuring Kendrick Lamar is one of the best songs in 2012.
@Swoldridge Thanks for the comment and watching! Peace.
@conflict1904 That's what's up! Thanks for watching!
@jujurightnow What up, France! Thanks for the positive words. I'll be sure to check your blog out.
Feefo's judgment is the only one that matters. It bumps in the whip? *Cops on iTunes*

Nice review guys. Listen to this album last night and really dug it. But like a few of you said I don't know if I'm convinced that its amazing.
haha was just about to tweet out if you guys were gonna do this
@AndRegistration We are. I just haven't researched the platform yet the way I need to. It's on my list.
Bought the album on iTunes back when it was still 18 tracks before they removed Raymond 1969 & Blessed then there was also another song they removed as well so if You buy the album on iTunes now You're getting ripped off.
Raymond 1969 is nuts...but nice review im happy you guys were feeling it.
@2:27 do you have a picture of uncle phil in the background?
Is that a picture of Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince?
@Kingemedia He's talking about Nehru Jackets. To @randay92, it's a mixtape. Not an album.
Setbacks disappointing ??? Kinge is dead wrong about that !!!
I never comment but I have to give props to Schoolboy Q and TDE. They have the most unique and realest artists that can achieve mainstream success in the game right now.

are you guys going to review Himanshu Heems - Nehru Jackets??
@TheCozy3 Well Antipop is still around. Plus, Beans is doing solo shit that is unbelievable. But as far as people doing shit as ground breaking as Antipop or Co Flow, I'd say no. Some of the shit on Uncommon is pretty crazy, though. Check out the Dck Vnngt record. Shit's pretty dope.

feefo stepping his review game up
I love how they find different places to shoot their videos.
Review:
Feefo - Bump in da whip
the track "There he go" got me right into this album, I really need to listen to it more though
@Kingemedia thanks for the feedback Kinge. I enjoy the channel regardless, but this does sound good.
You guys should review Vodka & Ayahuasca by Gangrene. Its a very good listen.
@jspears19 i believe he does have a new album dropping some time soon, but for the people who are just now finding out about ab-soul should check out his last two joints called long term mentality and long term 2
Great album, been bumpin it since it dropped. It grew on me.
what do u guys think about Macklemore?
@TheCityofgood And that was my "and then you woke up" joke to the dude that said Kendrick > Q > roc > soul.
i agree, schoolboy q has grown as an artist. Habits and Contradictions is proof
@mykectown is anyone new that is doing a sound that is like company flow and anti-pop consortium?
'Sacreligious' and 'Blessed' are deff my favourite tracks on the album, but if i'm in the right mood 'Nightmare on Figg St' gets me hyper. @encdee Hmm...man, I feel you.The thing is this is mostly my fault.

My Hatin' Join is that SONG!
Love this album and blank face
@chris45627 I dont think Ab outshined him but he did go in. I think if kendrick's part was a bit longer then I think it would be equal. But both are great lyrically, Kendrick and Ab.
I think Schoolboy Q gets overshadowed by the rest of Black Hippy, I'm glad he's getting some attention.
@TurkeyJones91 enough said!
I think hip hop fans from all angles can enjoy this album
It would be hilarious if Beezy just said "I Fucks Wit It" after every review.
Schoolboy Q is up next
yes just look up nehru Jackets mixtape in google, it's free and awesome
@chris45627 I dont think he outshined him but Ab did go in. He was brilliant on that track. They are both great lyrically, Kendrick and Ab soul.
What's with the ad, man...
@yugang08 yea he do i think its because he is trying to find his lane but it feels like the other black hippies filled all of the them
Kendrick = Social Commentary he is Micheal Jackson of the Group
