I haven't played this since 7th grade, and I'm a junior now. With online school I've been feeling really unmotivated and a little lost regarding orchestra, but this really reminded me why I love it so much. I have so many memories attached to this piece, and even though it's pretty easy compared to the things I'm playing now, I think it'll always be one of my favorites.
Remember when I played this for a concert earlier this year. The song was hard to play, but it was totally worth it. Reminded me of the attempts. My current situations weren't good, but it feels comforting to think about them as the song nears it's end.
I’m violin 2 also and I can fully relate. The thing that helped me most was practicing it over and over and over and memorizing it so you can watch the conductor
This song was really important for me to play in 6th grade because of the crescendos and making sure that your instrument wasn't too loud as to make sure you weren't overshadowing the other sections (which was extra hard as a cello). Another thing that I learned from this piece was tempo, tempo tempo tempo, tempo is so important for this piece (and all slow pieces) because if one person is off then another will lose it, then another, until half of the section would be off and the performance is ruined. A well-written piece that is perfect for young orchestras who are looking for a challenging yet manageable first slow piece.
I played this once every year at with the orchestra at Chaffey this is the signature song for my year of 2021 I will miss high school and it makes me cry because it was a great experience thanks to orchestra if anyone else see this just know orchestra mattered to some of us because it was the place that made us feel like home and made us feel like we belonged somewhere

This song was one of my last pieces I played before COVID struck the world into a pandemic, and right before I quit the violin. This song will forever be in my heart for that reason
we played this piece in an orchestra competition and two other ones, we won 1st! some parents emailed our music teacher that they almost cried during the performance 😭😃

Im not great with the names of these chords but I can tell you the notes from listening so the next thing it goes to is B,D,E,F# chord. Then it goes to an F Major chord with a B In there somewhere? Cant really tell, then it walks down to a D7 chord. Back to the G Major, C Major + a D in there somewhere, then walkdown to a D6 chord I think? Then A Major. Thats just the beginning, you can probably build off of this I would do the rest if I wasn't procrastinating my big assignment due tomorrow. Hope this helps :)
