Nature the outlet on the radiator, go get brass or copper 90 degree elbows x2 and a short piece of copper pipe and solder as needed to get around the shroud
Definitely. I think it was reskinned for a new season and may have never been used. Years ago I bought a Nova asphalt car in similar condition. In the off-season the class was dropped, so the car was already prepped by the owner and never saw the track again. I bought it and used it at a different track where the class rules allowed it. Maybe that happened here?
I love you both I'm a old car and truck fanatic you are so blessed to have a been blessed by God to have a great partner as you have! always give thanks to God for what he has blessed you with!
That’s awesome I had a 67 chevelle drove it to work drag raced it on the weekends. I then made it into a drag car running super gas class at New England Dragway got very I’ll sold the car due to medical bills. A while later bought a junior dragster for my daughter then put her in a 86 camaro drag car. Love your channel.
@@whattherust yes sir it is 😀 . I don't know if you know him or if you watch his Channel or not, but I reached out to Dalton at pole barn garage about the Chevelle because I know he's looking for a dirt track racer that he can take out to play with from time to time 🙃 .
I know why the car doesn't have any dents in it. The same reason why the 68 Cutlass 442 dirt track car that I bought has no dents. But my car has a removable rails in the side of it too so that helps. I bought it off the man who raced it back in the day. I said something about too bad he didn't get to race the car and he just looked at me and he goes son it don't have any dance because when you get out in front they can't touch you! So that Chevelle must have been a winner 🏆. Great video. One thing nice about that they didn't have to source a Malibu Chevelle frame. You know that's why you see a number of old chevelles just body no frame. My Cutlass has the next-generation Chevelle frame under it. Great video guys
Old dirt track cars really are exciting. Every one of them has a story to tell. I’ll never forget the experiences I had while working in the pits on a friends car back in the 1960’s. The mud, oil, grease, fuel, tires all had their own unique smells. Add to that the sweat and tears of the drivers and pit crew, all the excitement and adrenaline and the race announcers. And the fans; you knew the fans were there but you were always to busy to look up in the grandstand. Once in awhile you could hear them above the noise of the cars. That feeling of being involved never left me. Even now in my 70’s I think I’d love to have an old dirt track car from the 1950’s or 1960’s. I hope your Chevelle makes onto a track again some day.
Mike, you described the racing experience perfectly. Your description brought me back to my racing days. The sounds, the smells, the exhaustion. Good times.
Call me crazy but it seems like this old girl was waiting and hoping someone would come to her rescue. She had glory days at the track and then was unceremoniously put out to pasture and abandoned. Sometimes I think vehicles have feelings too. That's why she started so easily. Christina made me laugh when she stood way back while you were cleaning the rat nest off the fuel cell, she would have been the first one to run if a rat did jump out. Don't ever go bear hunting with her, especially if she carries a small pistol with her to shoot your kneecap in case the bear should start chasing ya'll. Great video, thanks for taking the time to share.
I said that very thing! When I saw the sun shining on that car it was honestly a spiritual moment! We'd never had a car sitting so long start that easily. It was amazing! You'd be surprised! That stuff doesn't bother me . I step back to get a better view. Thanks for watching! Much appreciated!
I'm the same way. That cars (older ones) have a presence about them, almost as if they have a spirit. Like one that's been abandoned and left to rot, it's as if it's dead. But just by airing the tires or putting good ones on it and rolling it out from it's former grave it's like they wake up. It's difficult to explain but ....
That Creoil that You mention here in South América we mix Creolina with water and boiled the carburator parts, they com up brand new! Wish we had those products here.Once again like your work
Absolutely fantastic! This episode took me back 48 years when we would work on our sportsman class dirt track car (Gremlin body, 327 Chevy), that we would run at Flemington Speedway in Jersey. Low buck but lots of fun!
True...but wouldn't that be funny! We were driving home last night after working on a 66 Impala and Richard told me a story when he was younger and he and his friend had went to look at a car to buy and a skunk was in the car! And they bought it with the skunk in it! Thanks for watching! Much appreciated 🙏
Well done Richard and Christina. I had my doubts the carb didn’t look promising. Fooled me and also quick tip on installing spark plugs in hard to reach places, I use a piece of vacuum hose over plug and fish him in. Gives you something to turn plug and keeps you from dropping plug out of reach. Thanks for your great content

I have seen that set up before. The set up uses two hoses. One comes from the radiator outlet straight to the drivers side along the radiator top tank. Then a standard left inlet hose from thermostat to the end of the first hose. A simple brass house drain 1 1/2 inch drain elbow is used to connect the two hoses. Any 1 1/2 inch elbow could be used. (PVC would not necessarily stand up to the heat of 190 degrees)

So they remove the weight just to add it back on and maybe more with the safety rollbar and all the tubing they have for bracing.
@@Hotrodford ideally you want your car 200-300 lbs under weight, so you can add weight over the left rear
