    I am new to fig growing and I have been doing my research. I have to say that your figs mop the floor with most people's. They are so healthy looking and productive. Thanks for the fine video you did on what your father and grandfather did for soil and amendments. I am going to do the same with my 2. Fingers crossed

    The Cravens Craving is now the prince of all fig. One cutting can go for $300+.

    Great video my friend I will do that. Now you keep the black Madeira kk in the greenhouse all year?

    • @loumonti10
      @loumonti10  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that there is only one Black Madeira. When purchasing my Black Madeira, I never made inquiry as to whether or not it was a, so called, KK, nor did I ever confirm that. First and foremost, I chose a reputable seller. Secondly, I chose to purchase it based on the health and general condition of it after my personal inspection. At that time, in the Spring, it had merely been a started cutting. This very same Black Madeira is the one featured in several of my videos, where it obviously appears to be very productive and healthy. Thirdly, no, my Black Madeira is not kept in the greenhouse continuously. In my opinion, fig trees should be placed out into the open sun as much as possible to ensure good health and good flavor. I hope that you will find my response helpful. Thanks for your question. Good luck! Lou Monti

    I have my first successful growing fig tree, I love it like a child😂. The problem is it is not producing fruit. The tree is very healthy I give it nutrients and it is still growing. I am okay with not getting fruit this year since it is late in the season but I do want fruit next year, any suggestions?

      I would try patients. Based on the variety you have, and countless other factors, fig trees sometimes take a couple seasons to produce quality fruit. I've often thought how wonderful it would be if fig trees were like tomato plants, where I can plant a seed in the ground and harvest a full crop of tomatoes in 75 to 90 days. Unfortunately, this is not the case with fig trees. You might want to add a variety or two for additional diversity in your collection and, perhaps, attempt to purchase a more mature tree from a reputable seller. With figs, good things come to those that wait! Be patient and good luck! Lou Monti

    Which species of Black Madeira do you have?

    • @loumonti10
      @loumonti10  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is only one Black Madeira. For what it's worth, I do not believe that there are any individual strains. However, I do feel very strongly that it is important to obtain B.M. from a reputable grower. Good luck!

    I agree with the warm water irrigation, i use warm water for watering, especially on hot hot days, the temperature of tap water is ice cold here, it is not so nice to water your favourite plants in ice cold water when they have been sitting in the heated sun. I am surprised you have this theory too. haha

    Thank you for sharing. What kind of soil do you use in your pots ?

    • @loumonti10
      @loumonti10  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When adding natural soil to my potting mixture, I am particularly careful in avoiding Nematodes when possible. Also, I like using a rich soil, with a good amount of rich organic materials.

      I don't know that, but I would suggest that you purchase another tree, a widely recognized good variety, and give it another try.
