Hi Ross. This is Maggie. Don’t know if you remembers me. I’ve mentioned to you before that i plantes 10 fig plant in my backyard but no figs at all. This year finally 7 figs came out. I’m so happy to see that but winter is approaching and leaf already yellow. Fig still green. My figs is going to die because I don’t have a green house. I listen to you and purchase 4 hardy Chicago. Is now still small but is growing nicely. Thanks for the detail video. Hope to see more video from u. Take care Ross
Thanks, also live in Pennsylvania and have been trying to grow figs. My mother used to have them growing like crazy in NJ, she really had a green thumb.

I put it in the garage every winter to keep it from dying. I am thinking of transplanting it to another bigger container. That's why the question.
What name of fig is best to grow in Myrtle Beach SC. Are you planting in paper containers? Is it the same in clay pots or plastic ceramic? Do you cut the fig branches and put into a garage with wrapping and water monthly to keep it feed during the winter. If I keep my fig plants in full sun all day they will burn the leaves. In SI, NY they need to keep them in early and late sun but not full sun. Is there something I’m doing wrong.
Hardy Chicago, Randy! PLastic pots.
I had an indoor fig but looks like it is getting too big for the pot I have it in. I have a bigger pot but it does not have drainage on the bottom. Is that ok or do they need to allow the water to come out of the bottom?
They *need* drainage. All plants do.
Every state has an Ag School at the big state university, and said Ag School usually develops varieties of everything for the region. And, has Cooperative Extension people to answer questions about gardening.
In Louisiana that mean LSU Ag, who developed the LSU Purple Fig for our weather. Dude is right, local varieties are best. My LSU Purple is doing well.

There should be calculator's online. Measure the dimensions.
