Rhad, if you're interested in history or mythology, the story of Inanna is a good read. Unless I'm mistaken, she may have been the first hero in written record to travel to, and return from, the underworld. She is the source of the Persephone myth we're all taught in school. Her story is a fundamental part of the hero's journey in literature. Sumerian mythology is very interesting in that it predates and builds the foundation for a lot of later myths and culture. I'm not nearly as educated as I'd like to be about it, but wanted to share!
It really is fascinating to see how alot of our modern entertainment can have a root in ancient mythology in one way or another. Let me add that I think it's a great way to help keep all that ancient history unforgotten.
