Pro Tip! Use baby chicken starter food. Save loads on money on it and its way better for them. Make sure you get the non medicated one. u can buy a huge bag to save money.

Haha one good tip I've not mentioned. If you feed fresh food like apple . Banana and orange only leave it with them for a day . You'll end up with tons of tiny fruit flies if you leave them in longer then a day or two

im new to breeding roaches and this video made it super easy to identify males n females plusssss i didnt even think about only feeding males, it makes so much sense because you have to keep the females to lay eggs but i really didnt think about it til you said something :)

I should have bought and bred these dubia when I have time. Now it's too late. The town has been shut down. Luckily my Asian forest scorpions and vinegaroon can fast very long time. I only have 6 crickets left for now....😭

I have a 4-5 m/o beardie and i feed him mainly dubias and occasionally veggies. He goes through dubias ridiculously fast. I’ve spent around $300 on roaches and I’ve only had him for about 2 months so breeding your own live food is definitely the better idea

Great video, I’ve did the same as you with a tub I only got two tubs from my pet shop and it’s just exploded with dubias
i got a load of adults from buzzard reptiles and BOOM it just blew up lol
It’s crazy how fast they breed, but they are much better than crickets
they hold there nutrition longer then crickets aswell

You know l have never had a energy drink in my life, l see so many people drinking them. Thermoregulate l think you needed to say. l often say translucent and l mean to say irridescent LOL. Sure would be breeding my own Dubias if l needed them. Enjoyed watching good catching Hugo.

How long does an adult female’s egg sac stay outside of her body before going back inside?
Am I doing anything wrong if I find egg sacs broken off and laying on the bottom of the plastic bin?
I think the question might be stupid, but i want to be sure anyway...the male to female ratio: only those shiny adult ones are important for the ratio or let's say those 'almost adult teenagers' as well? asking because i have a very young colony, basically couple of little boxes from various suppliers (to mix up the genes pool a bit) and huge majority i can see are 'teenage females'
you can only really clearly see there sexes as adults, the males dont get the wings until adulthood time, as they mature and you notice to many adult males just feed the males off, thaats what im having to do at the minute

I just bought 100 medium sized dubia and am hoping to breed them. I have then in a 20 gallon long with egg carts and a heat mat kn the bottom. Feeding carrots and cricket food. Am I missing anything? Should I have bought older ones?

Did you ever have an allergic reaction to roaches? Sneezing and runny nose? Do you use gloves and mask when you handle them?
Nope. However that does happen when I have a big cleanout of my superworms and mealworms. It's the dust /poop. Grass. Gets in your nose and your body reacts in a state of hayfever

Yes but possibility of them drowning is to high so we feed them high moisture content door and they get more then enough moisture that way
Having issues breeding mine. I saw one with that little bubble sticking out of her rear...but no babies yet. Very warm where I keep them (around 75F-85F) sucks I have no baby roaches yet but have many mature adults (mostly females)
Hi, i just watched you vid on breeding feeder roaches, i would like to give this a go & want to know how many roaches to start a colony, also how fast they breed & how fast they grow. also whats the best temperature form them. i live in Glasgow & the temps are not too warm. thanks. these would be ideal to feed my Tarantulas & Frilled Lizard .

THEY DO FLY. Mine were going crazy a couple nights ago and I’m glad I put the lid on because their wings were flapping. They didn’t fly very much but they did a little and that’s enough for me to be like NOPE. So do use a lid because I didn’t for a while till I saw that 🥴
They can flap their wings and possibly fly but not far at all and not high either
