- Forever alone in a crowd, failed comedian Arthur Fleck seeks connection as he walks the streets of Gotham City. Arthur wears two masks -- the one he paints for his day job as a clown, and the guise he projects in a futile attempt to feel like he's part of the world around him. Isolated, bullied and disregarded by society, Fleck begins a slow descent into madness as he transforms into the criminal mastermind known as the Joker.

If something happened to the Wayne's... it'd be pretty funny. What a joke.
Supposedly the director said this is the only real laugh in the movie
I think it's implied that while he believed he suffered from pseudobulbar affect, he didn't actually have it and much of his laughter was actually genuine, although why he found those things funny was incomprehensible.

He somehow nailed the essence of Joker, especially in this scene.
IKR this scene gave me the Arkham video games vibe, I love how he goes from a shy, timid man who lets everybody push him around without so much as saying a word back to them, at the start, to Mark Hamill’s joker at the end.

@@firstlast9846 ok. But every joker I have previously seen, they have this badass or creepy look.. This joker just looks too gentle and innocent.. Even the makeup or war paint that he wears is too innocent looking..
Can we just appreciate how good of a dancer he is
You know what's ironic is how at the beginning of the movie he is forcing himself to smile, only to laugh freely at the end after finally letting go.
The AmericanFook 🎭
He was forcing himself to smile because that’s what people wanted. (His psychiatrist, his co-workers, everyone). He was misunderstood and mistreated because he wasn’t smiling (happy).
At the end, he was finally happy because he no longer cared what made others happy, he started to care about only what made him happy, so he no longer had to force the smile.
It's not just 'ironic', it's a very deliberate implication established by the genius storytellers. Probably took them a lot of work to make it such an intrinsic theme.

Lol wthym his whole life was bad
M T yeah, but it took one bad day to make him finally snap.
"Madness is like gravity. All it takes is a little push."Joker in The dark knight
It took several bad days to make this Joker snap. Beaten up on the job, losing his job, getting assaulted on a train which lead to a self defense/execution, getting rejected by his supposed "father", discovering his mother was never truly his mother while also being responsible for his mental scars and conditions, and then discovering his love interest was never his due to delusions. Imagine actually cramming *all that* into one day.
You know what always amazes me about this scene? He no longer even has the green hair, white makeup and red suit, but the little things like his demeanor, his laugh, and the menacing look he aims at the woman give off just as much of a Joker vibe as well any of those cosmetics ever could.

Poetic and genius ending. Probably the most relevant film of this decade.
Joaquin Shang explain it?
Um..... if you haven’t seen it already we can’t tell you. It’s too hard to explain.
Will Rogers it puts a spin on the cliche ending of the main character walking into the sunset and everything is optimistic. The spin there is that Arthur is dancing due to becoming the Joker and feeling like he’s completely free and nothing can hurt him anymore.
@@MisterRawgers you wouldn't get it.
It's dumb, like "fake deep"
He figured out who batman was and remembered that Bruce's parents died because of the riots Arthur himself started. I suppose that would be funny to him
The way he says "you wouldn't get it." Joker has an awareness, he is still in there, he is just tired of caring
"Some people get their kicks, stomping on a dream"
*stomps the woman to death*
why are you thinking he stomped her to death? i mean yes his shoes has blood on it but if you see second look its only on his shoes soles not on his trousers or shirts etc. only soles ... so i think yes he killed her but didn't stomp her to death at least dunno how he killed her though cause except soles everything else looks clean white to me.
@@velosong3396 ok..
It's a joke?
If you look closely he has a little blood on the bottom of his right leg
Ledger: Why so serious?
Joaquin: 🤣🤣 You wouldn't get it
Licken Hunstman wait people are still watching this
“And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music”
Friedrich Nietzsche
Ali Shabbiri I mean it was helpful and interesting to know
Ali Shabbiri lmfao tf y’all talking about
🤯♥️
Since the therapist asks him whats so funny we can assume he no longer suffers from those random bouts of laughter or she wouldnt have called him out like that. Hes actually happy and laughing now at the death of Wayne's family. Gotta feel sorry for him. His mind is complely broken now and yet hes happy for the first time in his life.
This scene is just amazing and Phoenix has just raised the bar on acting.
BEST JOKER EVER.
Not even close.
When he started to sing it gave me chills man this movie is a masterpiece. Joaquin you’re truly legendary along with Heath.
Oscar worthy moment
@@willievision9939 I hope he wins, Phoenix deserves it he was outstanding as Joker.
My hairs shot up right on point
it actually dint give me any chill.. at all
I think heath raised the bar on crazy but this is almost seems like a persons life that kept them selves happy welp that's life it seems
Marvel: We have armies.
DC: We have a clown.
V(2005), constantine(2005), and dr.manhattan the naked blue man!
@Lime Green Then don't watch TH-cam videos of it.
@Lime Green
Wow, you're a very talented troll.
Marvel has Deadpool which is the biggest anti-hero known in comics. The Joker is only a good villain if Batman is involved in some capacity otherwise a story without Batman with the Joker is meaningless. Even this movie had to have Bruce Wayne in it to prove that point. While I am a DC Comics fan I will not ignore the success of the MCU which are more popcorn flicks and two or three thought-provoking films that can be half as interesting as a DC film. Also the MCU never had a film bomb as hard as Batman and Robin. I don't understand why we have to always compete, but if people are going to compete they might as well look at the sales proving themselves. Joker is an underrated achievement, but can it continue to follow up more money like the MCU has with their movies.
@Lime Green you love it that is why you watched the video and commented.
Director : outstanding acting !!
Joaquin : wait, you were filming ?
*Arthur sought out as much help as possible not to become Joker, but after he lost everything and turned into a monster, he got all the help here. So sad when a man can go mad like him.*
