Thats pure Insanity....youtube is your best friend for repairs. Never be afraid to work on your own stuff it's likely you'll do a better job repairing your own things than a shop or dealer will these days. Not to say there aren't any honest mechanics out there but the point is, If a guy can do it...then so can a woman! Good job.
Was quoted the same insane price ($1000!) and this video meant I only paid $30, and got my car on the road long before the 4 weeks the service department would take to start on it.
First off thanks for creating this video. I watched this one and others to replace my shifter knob for my 2014 Buick Regal. I would like to add this OEM part currently is on indefinite back order. So I was SOL as far getting it fixed by a mechanic or dealer. I took the advice of commenters to this video and bought a shifter knob from Amazon. I followed the steps on this video. I was unable to pull hard on the old shifter knob afraid it would cause more damage so I broke the plastic and removed the metal clip. Popped the new on and was good to go. My problem with old shifter knob breaking was I was unable shift the gear into park and could not fully turn off the car. I had put the car in neutral and parking brake and disconnect the battery while awaited for the part to be delivered. Thanks
Put in neutral depress broken button with pen and pull extremely hard!!! Thank you sir! This has been a big problem for a long time I been jamming a pen inside the knob to shift it was really embarrassing and the Buick regal is no junker it has been one of the best most reliable cars I ever owned in my life.. Really appreciate you
Commenting to let people know that this method works 1000000% It took me a total of 1 minute and 30 seconds to fully fix my wife's car. The 30 seconds was because I forgot my zip tie inside and had to run back in and get it.
Took my car to the shop for a transmission flush and they broke my shifter, tried to act like they didn't.. well, I bought the part off eBay and figured I've been in the business long enough to know a few things .. watched your video and have to say easy peasy 🍋 squeezy .. best one yet
Replacing because the trigger broke, so can't push it in to remove. Edit: Didn't need to push the trigger in. The trick is not to pull straight up, but to jiggle it while pulling up. thanx !
Thank you for making this comment. I was pulling straight up for many attempts before reading the comments to see if something else worked. Not pushing trigger and jiggling while pulling did the trick, came right off.
Did the trigger come off with a small plastic piece and a spring? You may be able to fix the trigger. I managed to use the selfie camera on my phone to line up the plastic piece and spring inside of the trigger on the shifter column. I then taped it on to stay.
Awesome vid! It looks like you got an original replacement(leather). I can't find anything but plastic. Dealerships here in Canada don't have this 1 part. I have to buy the whole thing which is not cheap. Where did you get yours from? Thanks🤓
Thank you so much for taking the time to post this!!!!!. Dealer wanted almost $850.00 for this repair!

@@rebeccagray7222i was quoted $620 after tax…$350 for the part and $200 for labour. Everything is a damn scam these days
That Is ridiculous i just bought it on ebay for 9 bucks
This was by far the best and easiest way of replacing this!! Thank you so much ❤️ and it worked just the same for my verano

This wouldn't need to be done if they didnt use cheap fucking plastic on the shift lock release thanks for the video

My trigger and spring broke, can’t move the gear from park …. & I have a 2015 Verano if that makes a difference

Video on changing the shift boot
THANKS!!
Thank you
I’ve been pulling so hard and it won’t pop off what so ever!
I couldn't either and I ended up chiseling it off. It took forever!
It’s literally nothing on the internet about removing the center console. My keys fell through the cup holder
A mechanic actually almost ruined my shifting trying to replace this. ...smh
nice
Thanks dude! Looked through a lot of shit to find a video like this!
Appreciate you making this video 👍
Is there anyway to get it off without the button mine is broken

honestly replacing the damn shift knob with some pvc piping would be more useful than it
Piece is all the way off
