In your rajang example with the pins In the first you countered through the side so you evade the active hitbox in 14 frames But in you second example you tried to go through rajang and were still in the active hitbox So it's not the distance to the hunter Or am I wrong here?
@@Darko807 I said it's the distance between the Rajang and the hunter because during the first part of the pin, from when Rajang starts moving to where he actually grabs you, that hitbox lasts less than 14 frames, so you can evade it with ISS, BUT the final animation where he's basically still at the end, lasts longer than 14 frames so you can't ISS through it.
First when I saw the 25 minutes video, i was like: "wait, that long for a move?!" and then "so far, the best master class on LS". I learned a lot! Thanks Master Peppo Chief!
The first hit of ISS has 0 part value so that a flinch or tail cut or something like that won't make you miss the second hit... SO WHY ISN'T THAT THE CASE FOR HELMBREAKER
This was super interesting. I noticed recently that I wasn't using the the Iai spirit slash just because it feels so inconsistent, both the hits and my timing. I'm mostly using it when the monster attacks me while I happened to be in Iai stance. I am never really planning on using it. But thanks that was quite informative! I do hope they fix these delayed hits in future titles.
8:50 The reason you can time a thing is because you're not reacting blindly. You have context of your situation and are able to anticipate the monster attacking you. That said timing a 5 frame window is easier said than done in a game like monster hunter. But that's why 1 frame windows aren't impossible in other games such as fighting games or rhythm games. Beautiful guide! Really appreciate the effort that went into the video, all the information presented was easily digestible!
Exactly. I find it strange many people don't understand. Like people in devil may cry royal guard very consistently and it only has 6 frames window. Max-act is actually 1 frame. A combos in street fighter 4 have 2 frame links even if you count plinking.
"The video ends here" is so much better than saying "The end" haha. Thanks for all the tips. I feel like I can become an LS speedrunner but I switch out my weapons too much which makes me a worse player I think overall (each weapon requires different timings for each monster).
I got MHW on december, didn't really play it up until last month. Did over 350 hunts as a DB then wanted to switch it up. This video helped me out a LOT. I went LS for the dlc and been enjoying myself.
@@PeppoLS Also French me, if possible, as well. French the bejeezus out of me... With Japanese subtitles. While speaking German, though. And eating Mexican. Thanks for the detailed breakdown and (unfortunately) detailed explanation of the inherent flaws in this mechanic. Your demonstration both of animation commitment as it relates to the AI and the issues with lingering hitboxes cleared up some things that have really confused me. Hope against hope they fix these things for future instalments... Great job in any event.
Absolute most informative all-around video ever. Been playing for 4 years and learned more in this one vid than in 50 other vids I've watched. Thanks Peppo!!
Ah man. I hadn't realized the second hit was random on where it lands. I just kept assuming I was somehow mistiming or misaiming the ISS. Thank you for saving what's left of my sanity.
Came here a year later, a noob in MH games. Yes, finally I I can rest my sanity back on my head. I had been super bothered to never been able to pull ISS consistently and feels like a failure. Seems like Helm breaker is the only (mostly) consistent finishers now.
this video has been very helpful! i can't tell you how many times i badly want to perform forsight slash during the 3rd hit of the 3rd spirit combo move. now i am able to spirit slash to safety!
This video it's awesome, I mean, literally perfect, not only theoretical explanation, but you show us pratical situations too! Every time someone asks me about this, I will THROW this video to the person xD If there's any english mistakes in this comment, sorry, I'm still learning :D
Now I can finally show everyone who laughed at me when I said that LS is buggy af. But yeah, seeing how Rise was developed almost alongside MHW, they might have the same coding.
The only helmbreaker openings with rajang are his laser and when he is stunned/knocked/hungry making ISS the best way to fight him, sometimes you'll get unlucky but whatever, his pin is bad anyway. The mind's eye you get from spirit attacks is also very helpful.
Thank you for the informative video. Playing LS is a lot of fun and there are ton of things that I need to learn especially the combo moves. This is my first MH game and looking forward for MH rise. Keep posting tutorials 😊 Hopefully m, you will do a tutorial of all LS moves and combinations that exist for both MHW / Iceborne 🙏

Love how I just came from a video talking about the position the LS is in and how people dislike it and then I come to one of the best LS users lol. But that aside this video helps out a ton. I was always ticked not being able to get the counter and always take the hits then but then I go to rise and it’s a whole lot easier
wow u were right peppo. the IS second hit miss almost frequently, made me use the Iai counter less regularly. what a fantastic video! keep up the good work man~
Thank you for showing the amount of Iframes each move has. I was getting frustrated due to so many things (even the iceborn wiki I think) saying the moves have Iframes, but not how many.
im not particularly good at monster hunter and im tying to learn the LS after playing the hammer for like 50-60 hours and watching you play is awesome and this is really helpful for getting the timing down on these dope looking moves so cheers
Thank you so much for the in depth explanation on how it all works out in this game. hopefully they really are fix the hitbox problem when the monster hunter Rise come out, you did a really great, thoughtful and thorough research with all the , mv and all the other stuffs that many people might not recognize before. Keep it up the great work, always love to see your videos and really looking forward to the next !
This really helped me let go of the idea of using ISS, I don’t plan on being amazing at LS, but I wanna die less to stupid hit boxes. Time to practice tf outta foresight slash ! Thank you for the video ❤❤❤ it’s still useful so 2 years later !
This video is an actual masterpiece, I learned a lot about my favourite weapon and how/when to use which move properly!!! Fortunately for us they fixed some of the issues of the ISS in Rise (even though the delayed hit still remains), so hopefully we can rejoice as LS mains once again lmao
Peppo your mastery of the LS is matched only by the clarity of your tutorial. I feel your pain from the design flaws hampering your drive for perfection, but no one comes closer!
Dayum... foresight into sheath is a real game changer I didn't know about! If you mess up your foresight, the forward step at the end usually screws you royally. But by cancelling it into the special sheath, you can often avoid that! Quite nifty, that. P.S.: LOVE that you put in MHFU music! i've had my helmbreaker miss a lot of times because the thrust, flinches/staggers the monster
If I had a dollar for every helmbreaker I whiffed cuz thrust procced a clagger I could pay Capcom to alter thrust's part mod to 0
