    Anticipating your Libre 3/Dexcom comparison. I’m T2 currently using Libre 3 which has been working fine for me. I just wish they had an Apple Watch app. Looking to try the Dexcom G7 for that feature as soon as my sample comes. Even if the Libre 3 had a phone widget it would be so much more helpful. These CGM’s are serious game changers though and I feel so grateful for this technology. Your story is inspiring and your videos are great. Education is such a beautiful thing! Keep up the great work!

    I'm betting that the real reason behind the G7 having the 12 hour grace period is for people to apply a new G7 and let it soak for half a day before changing from the old one to the new one. Letting sensors have about half a day to adjust to your body really seems to improve day 1 accuracy for so many people myself included. It feels like a big unkept secret that I've had several customer service agents at Dexcom and Abbot both admit to but it's never in the official instructions for use. I find it weird that it's not more openly publicized. My day 1 readings on CGMs are really wonky unless i do this. I haven't tried a G7 though since I'm waiting for Omnipod 5 integration so curious what others think about day 1 accuracy on the G7. Great video! (And you do look good in a pair of speedos! haha)

    Thank you for the comparison. I’m considering the Dexcom G7.

    Thank you for these great videos Justin. My son was just diagnosed with Type 1 a few months ago, and your videos have been extraordinarily helpful. My son’s currently on G6 and Omnipod.
    Just wondering - it feels like the Libre 3 has a lot of great features (1 minute updates, smaller, longer range, higher accuracy?) - what do you see as Dexcoms key differentiator? Thanks again!!

    As a Dexcom user, I would LOVE to have 1 minute increments vs 5 minutes. Especially when I’m exercising or my glucose is otherwise changing rapidly. It would also help with times when the Dexcom is jittery, so you can do a mental regression and smooth out the curve.
    Hope that’s on Dexcom’s roadmap. I don’t remember if you asked Kevin Sayer about that in your last interview

    The Abbott Freestyle Libre 3 is cleared for the Hybrid Closed Loop System "mylife Loop" since January 2023. This Loop is using a dedicated CAM APS FX app with either Dexcom G6 or Libre 3 and a Ypsopump, which is a very small and easy to use Swiss product.

    Here lately I have been seeing horrible accuracy with my Libre 2. Every single sensor seems to be off by 50. That's a lot.

    You can also stack libre 3 sensors. And there are ways to completely skip the warmup gap and have a seamless sensor switch. I tried both G7 and Libre 3 and found libre 3 easier to use. Automatic instant activation of the G7 is actually a disadvantage if you count on precision on activation.

    • @diabe_tech

      How do you skip Libre 3 warmup?

    • @R0LL1
      @R0LL1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@diabe_tech I don‘t skip it, you need a second phone. I start the new sensor with my Business phone 1 hour before the old one expires. Then I can switch back on private phone.
      I usually put a new Libre 3 sensor 24/48h before activating it and in this way the initial values are very precise. That’s why I think the G7 automatic activation is not that big of an advantage.

    Thanks Justin. Now I'm kinda on the fence...I'm waiting with "worm on tongue" (that's "bated breath") for the G7 to integrate with the t:slim....but also kinda waiting for the Medtronic Simplera which is like the G7.
    This diabetes thing sucks, actually....even after 68 years of it!!

    Hey Justin,
    Are you familiar with Eversense Continuous Glucose Monitoring? It's the sensor that goes under your skin for 6 months. I'm curious about whether it offers faster 'real-time' blood glucose monitoring compared to Dexcom or Libre. If it does provide quicker or more accurate readings, I wonder if that could potentially have better effects for people using closed-loop systems like Loop or iAPS. Does anyone have information on this?
    Thanks!

      I was in the clinical test for the early 90day Eversence. I wore the Dexcom G6 during half of the trial to compare reading and other things. Eversence still does NOT measure blood glucose. It works on the same fluid as all the other CGMs. So, to answer your question, no, Eversense does not offer "faster" readings than the others. They all have the "lag" compared to finger pokes. Also, it seems Eversense is still years (if ever) from being iCGM and having connections to any pumps in the US.

    Do you have to calibrate it at any time?

    • @diabe_tech

      You dont have to calibrate. Libre doesn't have the option, Dexcom G7 is optional.

    Abbott Labs’ Libre apps are atrocious compared to Dexcom for navigation and getting meaningful data for long-term decision making.

    Does anybody have any concrete solid answers as to when exactly the Omnipod 5 with have an ios app and be compatible with Dexcom G&. Please don't give me the same ol' blanket auto-response of "we are currently working on it" or "it's in FDA hands" or some other blah blah blah answer that doesn't actually give us any useful information.

    • @530mnorman
      @530mnorman ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We know that the iOS app was submitted to the FDA for 510(k) approval in June. By and large this approval step is complete within 90 days. By that logic, there's a very good chance it'll be available in a month. I'm also anxiously awaiting this app, but I think people do need to calm down about it. This approval is not trivial at all since unlike pretty much every other iOS app in the app store, we'll be using it for something our lives depend on. It's going to require security and stability that pretty much no other app requires. They really can't tell us anything concrete because they know someone will sue them if they're wrong about anything.
