I really liked this. I hoped Sexmane would’ve made it to Eurovision FYI, this sing is pretty much about the world driving you/him (I don’t know which word shoul i use lol) crazy, or like, being crazy in this world, lol
I am very surprised that I like this song very much. Many says that the chorus is a lackluster so I thought is this even worth listening. I'm happy I listened because this is very good.
@@Bandido894 I’m a Finn myself and I love it! I have no clue why my fellow Finns seem to dislike it so much. It has so many layers and the song has a great meaning behind it. So in my opinion there’s nothing to hate about it.
I’m really happy you liked it! I like the lyrics and rhythm a lot but I didn’t get any shivers from listening to the song so I don’t really know how to analyze it myself 😅. But still great stuff :)) 👍
It's a solid song with a bit that everyone can shout (mania!). In Finland among the UMK fans there has been speculation about Sexmane's little excessive use of autotune and how he will perfom live especially in the more melodic bits. But as we saw with Käärijä, it doesn't matter as much. Great reaction Tom! Looking forward to your UMK analysis this year!
Sexmane also has the same kind of personality appeal that Käärijä has. He is surprisingly calm and seem so much more mature than one would think. So Europe would like him. I hope he will do well live.
"Hate in Finland"?!? I've only seen Finns hyping this up, which I don't get, as to me this is very generic & underwheming, especially on 1st listen, though it sounds slightly better on 2nd. But still, not a good song, & I prefer Cyan Kicks to this.
i've seen him live and he has great energy and intensity on stage. the thing i'm really worried about is that his music relies on heavy voice distortion/autotune, which is not allowed on UMK or ESC... but if he manages to deliver this, it's a banger. people don't seem to like it though, i've seen so many comments about how shit UMK is this year. totally ridiculous - we have two songs out and both of them are interesting in their own rights. guess people are expecting a repeat of last year.
Did you check out the English lyrics? If not, I really recommend doing it! It´s not my music genre, HOWEVER the lyrics make it so much better to me. I would be happy if he wins, it would definitely stand out at Eurovision and would probably do very well
im so annoyed at myself for not checking, cos i know UMK usually has subtitles. i think its cos i was expecting the song to be in english cos Mania is an english word too
@@ESCTom I would also love to hear your take on the lyrics. You mentioned Finnish language and wordplay, speaking of that; Sexmane = Max Sene, this is a prime example of a very common type of Finnish wordplay, spoonerism.
I’m a metal fan first and foremost so I went into this NF expecting to love Cyan Kicks and not connect with this… but what I’ve gotten is the opposite. I don’t get any punch or passion from Dancing with Demons, but damn do I get it here. The auto tune is a little off putting but if this is good live, it could be incredible. My favourite from the two UMK songs so far, and one of my favourite NF songs in general so far too. Also, I agree with you- I LOVE Finnish. I wish more Finnish acts would enter songs in their language.
I infinitely prefer this to Cyan Kicks, it’s so much fresher and more complex and interesting. Not a fan of the autotuned vocals, it’s very Blanco/Italian gen z trap. I know it’s a stylistic choice but I reckon it’ll sound so much more impactful with natural vocals. Agree with you about the Finnish language, would love for Finland to continue that streak
I love it when someone really connects to a song. As a music lover, seeing someone else feel moved, energised or excited by a piece of music gives me a warm feeling. I enjoyed this entry, I don't know how much yet, I need to listen to it again, but I liked how it kept me on my toes & it was unconventional. I suspect I'm going to fall in love with it, although it's usually an instant reaction for me, like last year. I heard LOTL once, before the German National Final, & they blew my mind immediately, before the first chorus. It's rare I connect strongly with a song via a slow burn, but it does happen, & this has all the focal points that usually connect with me. I'll make my mind up when I see it live.
I so agree. Last year it took one month to connect with Cha Cha Cha. This year I fell in love with Mania right away. I thought I will never feel this way anymore😍
I really like this entry. It is really angsty and melodic, it is very grungy in its attitude, love the message of the lyrics, I love that it is in Finnish, I love the instrumental, I love that and it is fantastically produced and I just love how everything comes together in the end. And also in your video for Paskana I haven’t found any sources that said it was about “neurodivergency” based on what I heard from the video. Did you just get it from the general message of the lyrics or did you actually find a source that stated that. I am just interested to know because I am autistic myself, which is a form of neurodivergence so it’d be interesting if the lyrics do tap into that vibe in the end.
I also prefer this over Cyan Kicks, even though their song was solid as well! Out of these two songs I feel that Dancing with Demons would be a "safe" choice and Mania a "risky" choice, and I guess I would prefer a risky choice 😅
This is not the style he’s known for, he’s branching out and said that he wants to explore with genres more to be more authentic rather than just stick to one box. Not a fan, but he’s a good get for UMK, one of those who will bring a new audience. The ”cool boys of hiphop” have not really been in UMK before, Mikael Gabriel is another one but Sexmane is more on the rise/on the top and MG on the way out and attempting comeback
I was surprised by this song and liked it more than I thought I would have, knowing the artist. Not a fan of rap but this was quite good, I prefer this to Cyan kicks. This made me want to listen it again, Cyan kicks' didn't.
Song will be hit in Finland, I mean he is the top name here currently. Song flows nicely, lyrics are cool. Mania! shout is catchy.. but Unfortunately he is going to have same issue than his bro did and that will be his live singing which isn't...great. I feel that is one let down overall with ESC all around Europe. People start hype with studioversions and then... well yeah. Not all can pull live. Even Käärijä struggled in end of Cha Cha Cha because he got exhausted but people forgave him a lot because the performance was just something..unreal
I dont mind this one. I actually prefer it to Cyan Kicks! That said, I've literally lost my shit and forgotten about Finlands selection after hearing the Irish one! Bejesus...what's happening in Ireland?! FINALLY! A superb collection of songs!
If you like Finnish language, I assume that the songs of Sara Siipola and Sini Sabotage will be in Finnish, at least judging by the titles of the songs. Sini Sabotage had a huge banger "Levikset repee" some ten years ago. I'm not that familiar with Sara Siipola, but it seems to me, that she has that kind of dark songs not unlike the musical style of Amy Winehouse. I can't even guess in which language the song of Mikael Gabriel and Nublu will be, but the song title is in Latin.
I’m around 99% sure Mikael Gabriel & Nublu will be singing in finnish and estonian (ofc) since they have made songs like that in the past. If it is in english I will be a little disappointed but then I will just hope the song is good ::)
I'm a bit surprised of your enthusiasm for this song! It's not bad, but again, not my thing. And sooooo much autotune! Makes me dubious if he can sing well enough without. And this needs many listens I think, when I heard it for the first time I was deeply underwhelmed. After a few more listens it's better, but not my choice. I would pick Cyan kicks over this; still, I don't get why the hate? It's a decent entry and professional too.
