    Goblin shamans were my favorite when I played. Just the whole contract shtick made me really love my enhancement shaman and the mechanical totems were beautiful. God, watching this makes me want to play wow again.

    so the way i understand it...

    An important thing to note is that the light works on devotion and conviction. The stronger you believe something the better the can be wielded. For instance races like the Humans and Dwarves use there devotion to righteous justice and holy protection to wield it or the scarlet crusade can wield the light because there corrupt insanity has given them an undying conviction that anyone that are not them are undead. The goblins are said to use their greed to harness the light and do so very will due to their devotion to profit and wealth.

    • @xenoblad
      @xenoblad 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      idk if greed itself is the belief system that powers goblin priests.
      Otherwise, pirates would have many priests.
      I think it's more of a conviction in the virtues of the free market. They have faith that all services can be provided by the market without fail, issue, or drawbacks.
      Sort of like the objectivists who founded rapture in bioshock.

    I made a Goblin Shaman just as it seemed different, and this video just made me definitely want to level her up now. I like doing weird stuff like that. Like my blood elf hunter who is also a goblin engineer, it's like all part of the character, going against the norms of their own societies.. a horde within a horde.
    PS: I realize that engineering is a common choice for hunters, it's just I made it part of my character in that she's like a rebel blood elf, only rides mechanical mounts and when legion goes live she will have mechanical pets as well as all races will have that via an item.
    The Goblin Shaman, who knows where this will go, just thought it was a cool idea. All I have is a lightning bolt right now though, it's a bit boring.. I really do hope it opens up a bit before long.

    My headcanon is that Goblins priests are the most drip goblins alive, they believe so much in the power of gold and bling that it actually manifests into power of light.
    After all, gold and jewels can shine with a light as bright as the sun, which is the source of devotion for Tauren priests and paladin. So they constantly wear huge fur clothes with all sorts of shiny jewels, golden teeth, bracelets, brass knuckles, super expensive glasses etc etc.

    This kinda of makes sense. They are willing to do whatever it takes to profit and survive. I also thought the reason why they could be Shaman is because of their origins ... I thought they evolved from pygmies (who are very tribal) or share ancestry.

    I'm not one of these people who goes mental when a strange character class combination appears.. and I think the reasons you have given in this video are perfectly logical and make sense. But I've always thought, surely and race could play any class if all they have to do is take an interest in it enough to learn it? I remember when blizzard announced Dwarf shamans (a race class combo which had always seemed well suited for me) and they said "They learned it from their Draenei Friends"..surely you could just apply that sentence to any? Night elf Warlock..they learned it from their alliance friends.. Gnome Hunter..they learned it from the dwarves and so on and so on.Would be interested to see what you think.

    This lore is . . . uhm, somewhat wrong. Nice try though. You did nail it on the Goblin Shamans.
    Goblins are a race, but there are different factions. The Goblins in WC II/III are part of the Steamweedle cartel (Gazlowe, a hero in those games, is now in Rachet), and the ones on Kezan who eventually joined the Horde are part of the Bilgewater cartel, who had no affiliation during the 2nd and third wars.
    Also the Goblins of Kezan were still under the boot of Gallywix when your Adventurer encounters Thrall. Gallywix, in exchange for Thrall sparing his life, swore the Bilgewater Cartel in service of the Horde. That's right, Gallywix sold us (Goblins) to the Horde. Though most of the Goblins are happy to be part of the Horde where they stand to make a profit, many are unhappy with Gallywix as leader.
    There are hints and rumors of Boss Mida AKA "Her Tallness" (an NPC in the slums) and her plans to overthrow Gallywix to be the Trade Princess, though Celestalon has mentioned in the FinalBossTV stream that Gallywix will remain the leader, and "MAY" get his own ingame model in the future.

    • @AetherHub
      @AetherHub  10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey thank you for the clarification on some things. I understand there are still a bunch of goblin factions still neutral and that the hordes goblins actually just came from one cartel. I was trying to focus the video more on the class specific things so just gave barebones race background. But you are very much correct on these points!
      Also, I really hope we get more stories that involve Gallywix, I actually kind of like him as a character. If anything he is at least different as a leader and deserves more in game story and art attention.

    Which kind of trolls where the one's that enslaved the gobs ?
    Cuz in BaF they said that zandalaris are completely against slavery, thus i think they didn't enslaved gobs, it was Rather another race of trolls.

    Things like this never really make sense to me. They way I view it; we’re not playing the race, we’re playing as an individual of that race and cultures are not monoliths. There are always outliers and outcasts. Warlocks being locked to certain races in the past never really made sense. Surely there are those that chase power above all else in every society?

    Doesn't the light basically just run off confidence in yourself basically? Goblins get it to work because they want it to work, and since they're goblins; it works.

  • @NunChuckN1nja

    How do you know the goblins went to the taurens and not the orcs to learn shamanism?

    • @StarWarsJockey
      @StarWarsJockey 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      NunChuckN1nja When orcs first showed up to azeroth there were significantly less shamans then ever. Especially not in their initial invading armies. They returned to their shaman roots later on, but when they became slaves of the Legion they turned away from the elements. Goblins traded with Taurens for a while.

    LOL Priest goblins are a big "fuck you" to RL religions then....'cause its true, religion is one of the biggest money makers... wouldn't surprise me if some of the goblins drank their own snake oil. and gained the abilities of the light.

    • @xenoblad
      @xenoblad 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      An honestly held belief has to be held for the light to be used.
      I don't think it's just that religion is a good money maker, otherwise being a goblin priest wouldn't take training.
      It isn't just greed either, since pirates aren't filled with priests.
      Goblin priests are probably objectivists, like Ayn Rand or the people who founded Rapture in Bioshock.
      They just really really believe that markets are the best solutions to all problems, and that one should embrace the opportunities to participate in private enterprise regardless of the consequences others may face.
