Harrow Cine Society 1954 Pictorial

This is the Pinner Pictorial from 1954 produced by the Pinner Cine Society. Originally recorded on 16mm film. It is a record of events in the Pinner Area for 1954. It includes the charter incorporation of Harrow into the borough and the 1st Mayor of Harrow borough meeting at Harrow County Grammar School. Other events filmed are the club outing to Burnham Beeches, the Pinner Horse Show and the opening of the society's new meeting venue at West House.

I came across this film by chance in an idle moment when trying to find the award winning 'Trial and Error' film that the Pinner Cine Society made which was written and filmed by my Grandfather, George Brown, with others producing etc. This 1954 pictorial film is a particular find for me as there is unseen footage of my Grandfather at the club picnic and also my Grandmother in the back ground with her non-pc fur coat. The favourite shot of him is eating a banana at 5:55. Thank you for posting this. Very nostalgic for me.

Very much produced tongue -in -cheek by today's standards (2017).I can imagine a Harry Enfield version starring Mr Cholmodley -Warner/Mr Grayson parodying these amateur 1950s productions.I was born in 1946 and left the area (Northwood Hills, next to Pinner) in 1972.I went to Reddifords school in Cecil Road Pinner, from 1954-1957.So I am now 71.

I was born in 52 in Harrow and we moved out to the north middlands with dads job in 66. I always remember Harrow being a nice shopping area, Kingsbury and Queensbury were nice area's as well. I see videos of then now. Thank god we moved out when we did, my cousin said they now call Kingsbury little India!

I have filmed the whole of Harrow Town centre in 2019 and I was to film Kingsbury too just after the lockdown happened. I will capture that at a later date
