    hey you said this is the m104? it sounded a bit supercharged maybe just a background sound lol.my slk230 has been dead for quite some time. no power so this clogged cat causes this huh. you had no codes right? the car felt like it was in limp mode?

    • @YusufPetersenCPT
      @YusufPetersenCPT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope its a W204 with the M271 engine the supercharged version. Correct it showed no codes and it just felt like it was down on power after removing this one and some time later now i realize the First cat is also on its way out. they must have been damaged with the engine timing chain issues. so soon i will be removing the first cat too. It doesnt feel like limp mode totally the car will still drive and get up to normal speeds but when hammering it it just feels more and more sluggish as i found out going to the drag strip.

    • @YusufPetersenCPT
      @YusufPetersenCPT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope no codes just felt like a lack of power it was the heat coming from under the car after a drive that gave it away to me.

      Yes just after a drive of like 20mins you will feel the heat coming from under the car is just not normal at all car is still warm under now after but it was way way warmer before these cars can do with side or bonnet vents

    I have a W204 C200 CDi and battle to get beyond 160km/hr with my engine management light on, do you think removing the cat will sort this out?

    • @YusufPetersenCPT
      @YusufPetersenCPT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If the management light is on its in sort of a limp mode, i get 160 so fast its scary.. so have the codes read see what it says coz if its a blocked cat it will come up in the codes. But i think you have a DPF they too tend to get blocked and can rob you of power like crazy.

    I have the strong smell of burnt exhaust I'm my E350 W212. Nothing inside the car and no smoke. I'm wondering of it's a slight Cat problem, fuel richness or port or normal? It's not crazy bad but, I've had in for the last 6 months.

    • @YusufPetersenCPT
      @YusufPetersenCPT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Burn or warm with a blocked cat you could get really warm under the car so that burn could just be things getting really hot underneath the car unless its coming out the exhaust then its most likely the inside of the cat just burning away with oil and stuff thats built up inside. It could be something small or major try and find out where it could be coming from maybe something smoking when the car is hot to start off with.

    • @UhhhhhnooOOo00oO
      @UhhhhhnooOOo00oO 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@YusufPetersenCPT It's not crazy hot or any smoke or anything inside the car. It's just like a diesel or a slight burnt exhaust smell for about 5 minutes after shutoff. I'm guessing a small cat issue and not thd port fuel filter/sprayer or something under the back seats. I've had the smell for the last 6 months. Perfect oil and fluid changes, everything cleaned out and fuel is from different stations at 93 octane. Hmm. I'm going with the Cat is slightly blocked. (No hesitation, accelerating loss or sputtering) The heat thing I haven't checked. Not a fan of 2000 degrees that a blocked cat could potentially get to. How would one check a blocked cat on their own? Service it is, I'm guessing. Thank you for the reply.

    • @YusufPetersenCPT
      @YusufPetersenCPT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@UhhhhhnooOOo00oO theres a way to check for a blocked cat, you have to remove the first O2 sensor before the cats after the engine. they insert a pressure gauge and when the car is running the pressure builds up over a certain amount, thats the one way i know of. other way would be to remove and shine some light through it. my car too drives fine until i step on it then i can feel theres some power loss so my first cat has got to go will be doing that one soon.

      @@YusufPetersenCPT I know it well from Scotty many years ago. 😉 Well there is 73K miles on it. I'm guessing it's slightly clogged. I'm not going about removal and cleaning. I'll pay the crazy amount it will be at my Next B Service at the end of the year. It just had a B Service last December and they probably didn't do anything about it at a well known Mercedes Service center. You'd think they would have noted that. Would it have passed their inspection/emissions they marked as passed? (NY being very stringent) They also didn't reset the service counter. I had to go into the system and do it myself. I'll do nothing until about November of this year, unless the car falls apart. It is almost in brand new condition and treated like a baby otherwise. Thanks again

      It could technically be free, they charge around R1000 to cut out and replace with a stainless piece of pipe. But most places will buy the cat from you for more than that so find out by the place how much they will pay you for it. If they don't want to, get the job done keep the cat and sell it to a buyer.

It looks just like a hollow extention for where the O2 sensor sits, it goes in the thread first and then the o2 sensor goes into that so it just pulls the sensor out of the direct flow and just a little away thats how it fools the ecu... @B is For Build made something similar on their LS boat engines same concept.
