I arrived at Kona Airport, rented a car, stopped by Costco (Kona store), and drove via Saddle Road (Hawaii State Route 200) to Hilo. After stopping by the supermarket (KTA), I headed to the Volcano area where I stayed in.
Saddle Road is an east-west road that connects Kona and Hilo in Big Island, Hawaii. It's also called the Daniel K. Inouye Highway. There are no street lights, so you can enjoy driving very comfortably, but it gets very dark at night.
In Big Island, Hawaii, I was overwhelmed by the changeable weather, lava, blue skies, wide seas, mountains, and large-scale scenery everywhere I went.
I was a little nervous because the lane is opposite to Japan. Sometimes I mistake the wipers and the direction indicator.

I never would've thought that a large part of Hawaii looks like west Texas. Thanks for showing an often overlooked portion of the state!

OK, BORING! ... no holoholo mele, so why not more info on the screen; like distance between points of interest (like from Hina Lani Rd. to Pu'uanahulu) MM ___ Makalei G.C., MM___ Makani G.C., Mauna Kea in the distance, Waiki'i Ranch jct. (end of old Saddle Rd.), etc. etc., etc.

this is prolly the ugliest drive .. upper saddle road! i love its paved now .. but its like driving thru nevada ... butt ugly!
