I'm a 70 yr old lady, DIY, going to change oil & filter myself for the first time. I appreciate your video and the details you go into. Also, nice calm instructions and you didn't rush through it. Thank you 😊
Bought a similar tractor, was told at purchase the seller would do first oil change. Called them up, they said no, not only no, but in no way would they ever entertain that. Thank you, Husqvarna dealer, for sending me to any other seller. I am now changing my own oil , just to maintain a warranty that I now know the dealer will not honor either.
i’m a retired mech. there’s a nice trim tool that’s made to remove panel clips. your chisel works too.i also check for oil leaks after any oil change. great video. you covered everything nicely.
I just bought a Husky from a private party no book no nothing, I will B printing it off of the inner tube. The main reason 4 watching was2 see the trick on getting to the oil drain piece. A good straight forward video, with no unnecessary B.S. and he was easy to understand . Give the video a 10!!! Carl from Bakersfield Ca thanks
Excellent video! Very instructive! Using the carboard to catch oil so it does not run all across the frame is great! I used aluminum foil for the first time yesterday and that worked very well. I find the foil is easier to custom bend around the engine!
Thanks. My husband passed away and I don't like to pay someone that might not do the job correctly if at all. I am going to make an attempt at doing this on my own in the next week or so. 🙏 God Bless you and your family always
I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my beloved Husband too and we just have to learn and do the best we can. You find out that you can do a lot more that you give yourself credit for. 😊
That lawnmower is showroom level clean! Doesn't look like has been used much. I'm surprised the oil needed changing. Mine is very, VERY dirty. Thanks for showing how to change the oil and oil filter.
Nice work. This was informative for me. I bought a used Husqvarna an didn't have clue how to release the oil from the engine. It didn't come with the oil drain tube. I can get oil changed now . Thanks!!
@@DIYJIM hey I’m going to change oil and air filter on my yt42dxls Koehler but manual doesn’t have the part numbers and husqvarna chat wasn’t any help. Do you know of a tune up kit that would work or how to know you’re getting the right things?
Great video. I liked how you explained in detail step by step for this especially the warming up part. A lot of people do not know this. These days there is no one to teach them as they HAVE to rely on people such as yourself on these TH-cam videos. Along with leaning the mower to one side then the other. Now if they would actually do it. Lol Again great video. 💪💪💪👍👍👍
thank you very very much for this great video , you absolutely did great job with all the details and step by step instruction, may the Lord bless you.
Excellent, crystal clear video. Thank you for making it and including the links as well!! I already use 5w 30 synthetic for my GTI so I'll use it for the lawn mower as well 🙂
Tip: Ideally, park the mower leaning toward the drain plug side to evacuate most of the oil. Elevate opposite side with bricks, 2x4's, or whatever is at hand.
Hehe, I Iive in Sweden and work for Husqvarna (was there the other day in meetings) But I still needed this tutorial to change oil on one of my machines👍🏻 Thank’s for making this vid bro!!👌🏻
Thanks for the video. Here is a little tip. The YTH20k46...and possibly some of the others use an oil filter that is interchangeable with a 6Cyl 2000 Mustang. In Walmart Supertech terms...that is the ST3600. I would recommend filling the filter before screwing the new one back on.
Super Video Jim. Ya saved me a lot of time. I realize I am a lil late but better late than ever. Great job of explaining and excellent video coverage. Loved the "throwing the parts in bit" We should arm wrestle sometime. Have a great Navy Day!
Video was exactly what I needed. Thank you. This is my first time changing on my husky. I’m having trouble getting the clip off to remove the plastic piece. Can’t do it by hand and am having issues trying to pry it. This is a new mower so I’m figuring that’s why. Do you have any more tips for removal? Thx!
I think all I have is what I showed at 3:30 on the video. Maybe a wide flat tip screw driver would work also. Hope you get it figured out. Thanks for watching
I have a different model number but it looks pretty much the same as mine. Definitely didn’t get a drain tube so I’ll wing it. Thanks! Great straightforward and easy to follow video.
One more thing to keep in mind...that drain cock will come loose at the engine block. MAKE SURE it's tight. It's a pain to try and grab it with any kind of pliers so I bought a 15/16 thin wall deep socket. Still had to grind around it to get it on the dang thing. Last year after I got it out I put a little blue Permatex on it! Problem solved. At the filter I use a 2L soda bottle with the bottom cut out and a side cut out. Leave the cap ON! Then just loosen the filter a bit and slide the bottle up to the engine block and finish unscrewing the filter so it drops into the bottle!
Where is the crankcase breather on these? My mower has quite a bit of blow by and wanted to start with the breather but i have no clue where its located

Any recommendations for a drip pan to fit under these bad boys? I had that was too large and ended up running into a messy situation.
Sorry not sure I would just measure the space and check around. Sorry can not help more. If I find some time I will try to find something.
Just stick the hose directly to PET bottle and you will get rid of cleaning the drip pan and save some time too.
Use a cheap paint pan
