These women are the most talented women in the world today. IMO In my 56 years of being a musician, Band-Maid impressed me the most in recent years. I have every CD, DVD and magazine that they have out, since 2014. Not a bad song on any of them. They are just starting to get recognized all around the world now. On September 10 Band-Maid will appear in a Netflix movie called "KATE" they will have a few songs in the movie and they will perform. With Band-Maid, it's going down the Pigeonhole instead of rabbit hole! Miku Kobato's(band founder, twin tails, red rose, 2nd vocals, rhythm guitar, and main lyricist) name, Kobato, means small pigeon(though, since the Japanese language don't differentiate between Pigeons and doves, she is more than likely referring to doves🕊) and she will say she is one!!! She ends her sentences with "po", shorten of "kuruppo", the sound that a Pigeon makes(in English, it is referred as a " coo"). So...welcome to the B-M Pigeonhole!!! @@MyMetalHealth The problem is that this is the ONE band that cannot itself be pigeonholed. They mix so many genres in such creative ways in their songs, it's more just known as 'Band-Maid genre.' But of course Maidiacs like me are certainly in the pigeon hole...and we don't want to even try to get out.

Great choice for the first song to be introduced to B-M. This is by far their best MV to date. As much as the MV is great, the music is even better. BAND-MAID is a top notch hard rock band. Most bands have one maybe two really talented individuals, Band Maid Has five and they are all superb musicians with a huge work ethic that guarantees a steady flow of first class songs from Kanami lead guitar. They are technically near perfect, creative and wonderful 'showmen'. Their live shows are legendary.

Welcome to the best hard rock band in the world. My recommendation, although everyone is different, is to read the lyrics before you watch a new video, and then just take in the sounds when you watch the first time. For this band I mean, since their music is very dense and it's too hard to take in what you're hearing if you're reading the lyrics. Their music is complex and creative, and they are a super-fun band to hear and to follow (as I'm sure you've gathered by now, lol). I see the BM Army has arrived already, so all I can say is that they're all correct! They have zero bad songs.
Band Maid is a very hard driving band. :) They are five /very/ talented musicians who play off each other and are constantly challenging each other to get ever better. They all have some contribution on the songs, though Kanami does the main song writing and Miku does the lyrics. I have yet to hear a song from them that stinks, though I do feel that their very early songs (not written by them) are generally weaker than those they created. Not to say there aren't some gems, but Band Maid really came into their own when they had full control over what they were playing. Enjoy and I look forward to your next Band Maid reaction. Awesome is fine reaction after just one band-maid experience. I've seen reactors' reaction changing from "not bad" to "they can really play", to "oh my God" to "wtf they are crazy" to "Jesus, my brain's stopped!"
Despite a language barrier their live performances are stunning. All of them have such charm and fun that it is hard not to get involved with them. On top of that they simply don't have a weak song in their repertoire.
Miku, the rhythm guitarist/co-vocalist writes the lyrics, while Konami, the lead guitarist writes the music. If you liked the lyrics to songs, I suggest one of my favorite Band-Maid songs, Puzzle, but you have to watch them live.

MOAR BAND-MAID!! Check out their live songs! The band is actually better live! The make or break moment for BAND-MAID was back in 2013 when they dropped their video for "Thrill". They decided if that video didnt get traction, they would disband. Fortunately the song was a hit! Little by little the BAND gained created freedom to write all their songs in full. The lead guitarist Kanami (Kah-Nah-Me) composes all the songs. The backup vocalist/rhythm guitarist Miku (Me-Coo) writes all of the lyrics. MISA is the bassist - Aka the barefoot assassin. Akane (Ah-Kah-Nay) - The gorilla on the drums! Saiki (Sigh - Key) - The ice queen on vocals. Fun facts: Miku worked at a maid cafe in Japan and had the idea of creating a hard rock band with a maid image to create a hard rocking maid band thinking it would be quite a contrast. Originally Miku was the lead vocalist but she felt she didnt have a strong enough voice for the music she wanted the band to play so they found Saiki and she took over as the lead vocalist.
Enjoy your rabbit hole. It's amazing. My biggest suggestion is to use a good pair of headphones to listen to them. The way the music is engineered is amazing. Then, as others will tell you, they are even better live. For me, it doesn't matter that I don't know the lyrics when I listen, the music is that good.

As you can tell, Band-Maid have quite a lot of vocal support from the West. If you want to know pretty much everything you need to know about Band-Maid watch the live version of Domination. It isn’t their best of anything But it spells out everything. You will not be disappoint.

Miku (band founder/rhythm guitar/2nd vocal) is the lyricist. She is an exceptional writer. I'm enjoying your reactions. The current crop of all-female hard rock and heavy metal Japanese bands is pretty impressive, and there have been dozens of bands like this since the early 80s. In fact many of the current bands are made up of members of former well known bands, one in particular. You'll see that band name (DESTROSE) come up often. If you really want to learn the history, you're going to want to take a lot of notes, 'cos it's deep, lengthy and complicated, but fun. I see you've sampled Nemophila, Band-Maid, and Hanabie. All relatively new bands in the grand scheme of things, even though Band-Maid have actually been together for 8 years at this point, which is weird to think about since it doesn't seem like it's been that long already. Anyway, the way the rabbit hole usually goes is Babymetal - Band-Maid - Lovebites - Nemophila. Babymetal aren't "all-female", that's just where this trip usually starts. There are older, established bands who aren't getting the same amount of attention on youtube, which I always find strange - bands like Mary's Blood, Aldious, existtrace, etc. I'm not sure why that is, maybe because people like to feel like they got into something early on so they can buy all the limited edition first pressings and brag on facebook. Good luck finding the first Destrose demo! Anyway, I forgot what my point was. Oh yeah, I just remembered - Lovebites was my point. The next obvious reaction. Any song really, but I highly recommend anything that says "live at DiverCity Tokyo 2020" in the title.
Well..Woe..You just don't know what you've just discovered. These ladies are 5 of the most creative musicians alive. I kid you not. They're all brilliant in their own way. Whether it's Miku on rythmn guitar and backing vocals, Saiki on lead vocals,Misa on bass,Akane on drums or the genius Kanami on lead guitar who composed the song,they're all remarkable women. The ability to interwine so many different aspects into their music is really quite unique. Theyre unassuming humble women who really let the music do the talking. Miku writes the lyrics but they dont always translate that well. Put on some headphones and soak up the sound. It's only until you do that that recognise/hear all of the intricate 'work' going on in each song. Subtle notes combined with slides,solos and so much more. The Maids music is something that really requires repeat listens to fully appreciate how good they are and the production quality that goes with it. The Maids have that great band signature. Variability,creativity and just downright genius songwriting. The ability to compose hard core songs like Rinne but then produce beautiful ballads like About Us. There's no other band that does that. Kanami has a great ability to intertwine different genres in a song and change verses and choruses in subtle ways. Here's a list to feast on. For MV's,watch Manners,Choose Me,Daydreaming,Rinne,Bubble,Thrill. The Maids are best live though. This where they shine and show their true skill. Real Existence,Onset,Dont you tell me. First,Band-Maid is a hit machine. Second,they have released well over 100 songs. Third,they have yet to release a bad song. Band-Maid is their genre. My playlist,so far,has 35 of their songs. Miku,rhythm guitarist,vocalist,and band founder,writes the lyrics,and Kanami,lead guitarist,writes the music--she is a genius. You'll see a high number of views with every review of them. Trying to give you "a" song of Band-Maid is like the wheel of fortune but every one is a winner, so if you like history try "Alone" the first song they wrote, before that they had to play what the record company wrote, not that it was bad I just think they should've been allowed to write from the beginning IMO.
Band-maid “Warning”, “Thrill”, and “Choose me” are favorite music videos from this group. I also like Maximum the Hormone “Alien” and “Yoshu Fukushu”. I also like everything Babymetal…can’t go wrong with any of their music videos or live performances. When I’m in the mood for something light rock, my go to artist is Dreamcatcher. Dreamcatcher “Deja Vu”, “Piri”, and “Scream” are my favorites from this group. I also like how Dreamcatcher’s vids have storylines.

Miku, the rythum guitarist, with red flower on top. She worked in a maid cafe in Tokyo, while going to college. She likes rock music, came up with the image of maid outfits, and rock sound. " The gap" as it's called. In their song After Life, they filmed it in that maid cafe. Kanami is one of my favorite guitarists, and she composes the songs.. Her, Midori and Miyako of Lovebites; Saki and Hazuki of Nemophila have joined my all time favorite guitarists. Akane drummer here, and Marata Tamu of Nemophila favorites. "Phenomenal" is a word you're going to find you will be using a lot with Band-Maid They are the complete band. ... the main lyricists is considered a genius in Japan (both for Japanese lyrics and her use of English, and a variation on Japanese that is hard to write & sign but removes some of the 'limitations' on the Japanese language when it comes to consonant sounds.) The main arranger is another genius, her love & care to the melody is just so consistent and beautiful ... every one of their songs would be a hit in the west's pre-gone-to-shit-pop-era! Then the rest of them are all multi-instrumentalists and a total master on their main instruments ... you may find more technical or faster players than Band-Maid's Bass, Drums & Guitar players but you will not find more tasteful players who never get in the way of the song or other band members but when called on to step out front take it to the next level. And that's just their music .. then we get to their onstage,off-stage personalities, and the personality of the band as a whole (including an alter-ego band they pull out every April 1st as a special present to their fans that doesn't compromise in the least on the quality of their craft, but is always surprising and different) If the Beatles had the talent of Band-Maid they would have been bigger than the Beatles, The Stones, & Elvis Presley combined!
So glad you found them. So glad I found them. In my opinion Band-Maid are the best band currently making rock, and one of the best ever. Yet 3 months ago all I knew was thumbnails of cute Asian women in maid costumes. So I thought, "gimmick band." Wow, I could not have been more wrong! I've yet to hear a bad song by them, in fact, my favorite Band-Maid song is which ever one I've heard most recently. So that means right now it's "Warning!" Even their April Fool's videos are awesome. Check out the ones labelled Band-Maiko to see what I mean. Check out the official live video for "Onset." It's an instrumental, so you miss out on Saiki's lovely voice, but it really showcases the others' amazing playing skills.

Hello. Excellent reaction. Band-Maid is one of the best Japanese female metal bands. Like them I met Nemophila through another great Japanese metal group such as BabyMetal. If you have never heard them I recommend you listen to the song "Road of Resistance" Live in Japan, for me one of their best songs and a concert where anyone would have wanted to be. Welcome down the rabbit hole sir. You may have noticed what I did back when they released "Thrill" that these ladies are different and special. I have never followed a non-English speaking band before them. As you follow their discography you'll see once left to their own devices they get better and better. I would give you song recommendations but to be honest I wouldn't be recommending anything you haven't already read in the comments section.
What others have already said, I can only reiterate. Probably the best (Hard-)Rock band that is active at the moment and the best thing that has happened to the genre for decades. Without exception, each of these ladies is incredibly talented and as a group, the whole thing multiplies itself several times over. And how good they actually are, they really show at their live performances. 'Real Existence', 'Domination' and/or 'Onset' are very good examples of this. This term will probably cross your path more often, and is due to rhythm guitarist Miku Kobato, whose surname translates to 'Pigeon' and she also refers to herself as such. Wow... if you're struggling to English before you hear them, I can't wait to to see you struggle afterwards!😜😎😂 But seriously, you will be hard pressed to find a band that brings it as constantly as these 5 incredible women do! They are truly versatile, with avery wide breadth of influences from which they draw, to be just familiar enough and not derivative of said influences. Honestly, you could just go to their channel and hit play all and you won't be disappointed. But if you need suggestions, I personally prefer the live videos because live is where it's at for any great band. But I would check out "Freedom", "Domination", "Daydreamong", "Blooming", "No God", "Cross", and their Band-Maiko stuff (an April Fools alter ego they came up with a few years ago that not only changes up their look, bud adds traditional Japanese instruments as well). That should give a good enough cross-section of what they're capable bringing to the party.

The last band I totally geeked out on and loved all the songs in the catalogue was Led Zeppelin -- the next band after that -- BAND-MAID!!! I love all their songs.
I am not really a huge lyrics guy for most bands, but Miku writes some pretty damn good lyrics and they are able to weave English and Japanese together pretty seemlessly, along with Saiki/Miku harmonics and back and forth vocals. The more you dig into Band-Maid the more treasures you will find, not only are their songs that get singles/MV great but all songs on the albums. Theres so many good songs that fans have a real hard time on favorite lists/polls, compared to what I would say most bands the majority of the fanbase lists the top MV as their favorites.
IMHO, this song is about their experience with the tradition big corporate, highly controlling rock music industry, and "The Warning" here is that these old models for the music business wherever they are (including Japan), based on the American and British old models - notice the older big Cadillac and Jaguar - are poorly guided and will inevitably crash and burn. The artists are precariously along for the ride on them... So it is important to be standing on your own feet on solid ground when they crash and go boom. And that is what Miku and the band have been working toward all the time - more independence. BTW, none of this was CG. Everything, the cars jostling, the band on top of vehicles, and even including the explosion and fireball at the end, was totally real. Lead singer Saiki commented that it was really hot, but not unwelcome because it was a very cool day. Now compare the lyrics to that concept and see if I'm wrong. Their MV of "Afterlife" is on the surface about the frustrations of being a "cafe maid" - but read the lyrics closely and again I believe you will see it is about life AFTER that with the music management and recording companies. Subtlety and metaphor.

These women are the most talented women in the world today. IMO In my 56 years of being a musician, Band-Maid impressed me the most in recent years. I have every CD, DVD and magazine that they have out, since 2014. Not a bad song on any of them. They are just starting to get recognized all around the world now. On September 10 Band-Maid will appear in a Netflix movie called "KATE" they will have a few songs in the movie and they will perform. Well said Chas. Kanami and Miku's writing is destined to go down in history, as among the best in the world. They put most bands to shame as far as quality and performance level. They are nothing less than astounding. Also Lovebites are that level in the metal scene.

She ends her sentences with "po", shorten of "kuruppo", the sound that a Pigeon makes(in English, it is referred as a " coo"). So...welcome to the B-M Pigeonhole!!! Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. Most bands have one maybe two really talented individuals, Band Maid Has five and they are all superb musicians with a huge work ethic that guarantees a steady flow of first class songs from Kanami lead guitar. They are technically near perfect, creative and wonderful 'showmen'. Their live shows are legendary.

Welcome to the best hard rock band in the world. My recommendation, although everyone is different, is to read the lyrics before you watch a new video, and then just take in the sounds when you watch the first time. For this band I mean, since their music is very dense and it's too hard to take in what you're hearing if you're reading the lyrics. Their music is complex and creative, and they are a super-fun band to hear and to follow (as I'm sure you've gathered by now, lol). I see the BM Army has arrived already, so all I can say is that they're all correct! They have zero bad songs.
Band Maid is a very hard driving band. :) They are five /very/ talented musicians who play off each other and are constantly challenging each other to get ever better. They all have some contribution on the songs, though Kanami does the main song writing and Miku does the lyrics. I have yet to hear a song from them that stinks, though I do feel that their very early songs (not written by them) are generally weaker than those they created. Not to say there aren't some gems, but Band Maid really came into their own when they had full control over what they were playing. Enjoy and I look forward to your next Band Maid reaction. Awesome is fine reaction after just one band-maid experience. I've seen reactors' reaction changing from "not bad" to "they can really play", to "oh my God" to "wtf they are crazy" to "Jesus, my brain's stopped!"
Despite a language barrier their live performances are stunning. All of them have such charm and fun that it is hard not to get involved with them. On top of that they simply don't have a weak song in their repertoire.
Miku, the rhythm guitarist/co-vocalist writes the lyrics, while Konami, the lead guitarist writes the music. If you liked the lyrics to songs, I suggest one of my favorite Band-Maid songs, Puzzle, but you have to watch them live.

The make or break moment for BAND-MAID was back in 2013 when they dropped their video for "Thrill".
They decided if that video didnt get traction, they would disband. Fortunately the song was a hit!
Little by little the BAND gained created freedom to write all their songs in full.
The lead guitarist Kanami (Kah-Nah-Me) composes all the songs.
The backup vocalist/rhythm guitarist Miku (Me-Coo) writes all of the lyrics.
MISA is the bassist - Aka the barefoot assassin.

Fun facts:
Miku worked at a maid cafe in Japan and had the idea of creating a hard rock band with a maid image to create a hard rocking maid band thinking it would be quite a contrast.
Originally Miku was the lead vocalist but she felt she didnt have a strong enough voice for the music she wanted the band to play so they found Saiki and she took over as the lead vocalist.
Enjoy your rabbit hole. It's amazing. My biggest suggestion is to use a good pair of headphones to listen to them. The way the music is engineered is amazing. Then, as others will tell you, they are even better live. For me, it doesn't matter that I don't know the lyrics when I listen, the music is that good.

Miku (band founder/rhythm guitar/2nd vocal) is the lyricist. She is an exceptional writer. I'm enjoying your reactions. The current crop of all-female hard rock and heavy metal Japanese bands is pretty impressive, and there have been dozens of bands like this since the early 80s. In fact many of the current bands are made up of members of former well known bands, one in particular. You'll see that band name (DESTROSE) come up often. If you really want to learn the history, you're going to want to take a lot of notes, 'cos it's deep, lengthy and complicated, but fun. I see you've sampled Nemophila, Band-Maid, and Hanabie. All relatively new bands in the grand scheme of things, even though Band-Maid have actually been together for 8 years at this point, which is weird to think about since it doesn't seem like it's been that long already. Anyway, the way the rabbit hole usually goes is Babymetal - Band-Maid - Lovebites - Nemophila. Babymetal aren't "all-female", that's just where this trip usually starts. There are older, established bands who aren't getting the same amount of attention on youtube, which I always find strange - bands like Mary's Blood, Aldious, existtrace, etc. I'm not sure why that is, maybe because people like to feel like they got into something early on so they can buy all the limited edition first pressings and brag on facebook. Good luck finding the first Destrose demo! Anyway, I forgot what my point was.
Oh yeah, I just remembered - Lovebites was my point. The next obvious reaction. Any song really, but I highly recommend anything that says "live at DiverCity Tokyo 2020" in the title.

Well..Woe..You just don't know what you've just discovered. These ladies are 5 of the most creative musicians alive. I kid you not. They're all brilliant in their own way. Whether it's Miku on rythmn guitar and backing vocals, Saiki on lead vocals,Misa on bass,Akane on drums or the genius Kanami on lead guitar who composed the song,they're all remarkable women.
The ability to interwine so many different aspects into their music is really quite unique. Theyre unassuming humble women who really let the music do the talking.
Miku writes the lyrics but they dont always translate that well. Put on some headphones and soak up the sound. It's only until you do that that recognise/hear all of the intricate 'work' going on in each song. Subtle notes combined with slides,solos and so much more. The Maids music is something that really requires repeat listens to fully appreciate how good they are and the production quality that goes with it.
The Maids have that great band signature. Variability,creativity and just downright genius songwriting.
The ability to compose hard core songs like Rinne but then produce beautiful ballads like About Us. There's no other band that does that.
Kanami has a great ability to intertwine different genres in a song and change verses and choruses in subtle ways.

Trying to give you "a" song of Band-Maid is like the wheel of fortune but every one is a winner, so if you like history try "Alone" the first song they wrote, before that they had to play what the record company wrote, not that it was bad I just think they should've been allowed to write from the beginning IMO.
Band-maid “Warning”, “Thrill”, and “Choose me” are favorite music videos from this group. I also like Maximum the Hormone “Alien” and “Yoshu Fukushu”. I also like everything Babymetal…can’t go wrong with any of their music videos or live performances. When I’m in the mood for something light rock, my go to artist is Dreamcatcher. Dreamcatcher “Deja Vu”, “Piri”, and “Scream” are my favorites from this group. I also like how Dreamcatcher’s vids have storylines.

Miku, the rythum guitarist, with red flower on top. She worked in a maid cafe in Tokyo, while going to college. She likes rock music, came up with the image of maid outfits, and rock sound. " The gap" as it's called. In their song After Life, they filmed it in that maid cafe. Kanami is one of my favorite guitarists, and she composes the songs.. Her, Midori and Miyako of Lovebites; Saki and Hazuki of Nemophila have joined my all time favorite guitarists. Akane drummer here, and Marata Tamu of Nemophila favorites. Misa here ,an incredible bassist. Love these bands.

The opening sequence is called 'The March of the Maids' and is uually used as the intro song while the ladies walk on stage at the start of a concert.
"Phenomenal" is a word you're going to find you will be using a lot with Band-Maid
They are the complete band. ... the main lyricists is considered a genius in Japan (both for Japanese lyrics and her use of English, and a variation on Japanese that is hard to write & sign but removes some of the 'limitations' on the Japanese language when it comes to consonant sounds.) The main arranger is another genius, her love & care to the melody is just so consistent and beautiful ... every one of their songs would be a hit in the west's pre-gone-to-shit-pop-era!
Then the rest of them are all multi-instrumentalists and a total master on their main instruments ... you may find more technical or faster players than Band-Maid's Bass, Drums & Guitar players but you will not find more tasteful players who never get in the way of the song or other band members but when called on to step out front take it to the next level.
And that's just their music .. then we get to their onstage,off-stage personalities, and the personality of the band as a whole (including an alter-ego band they pull out every April 1st as a special present to their fans that doesn't compromise in the least on the quality of their craft, but is always surprising and different)
If the Beatles had the talent of Band-Maid they would have been bigger than the Beatles, The Stones, & Elvis Presley combined!

So glad you found them. So glad I found them. In my opinion Band-Maid are the best band currently making rock, and one of the best ever. Yet 3 months ago all I knew was thumbnails of cute Asian women in maid costumes. So I thought, "gimmick band." Wow, I could not have been more wrong! I've yet to hear a bad song by them, in fact, my favorite Band-Maid song is which ever one I've heard most recently. So that means right now it's "Warning!" Even their April Fool's videos are awesome. Check out the ones labelled Band-Maiko to see what I mean.
Check out the official live video for "Onset." It's an instrumental, so you miss out on Saiki's lovely voice, but it really showcases the others' amazing playing skills.

If you have never heard them I recommend you listen to the song "Road of Resistance" Live in Japan, for me one of their best songs and a concert where anyone would have wanted to be. I have never followed a non-English speaking band before them. As you follow their discography you'll see once left to their own devices they get better and better. I would give you song recommendations but to be honest I wouldn't be recommending anything you haven't already read in the comments section.

What others have already said, I can only reiterate. Probably the best (Hard-)Rock band that is active at the moment and the best thing that has happened to the genre for decades. Without exception, each of these ladies is incredibly talented and as a group, the whole thing multiplies itself several times over. And how good they actually are, they really show at their live performances. 'Real Existence', 'Domination' and/or 'Onset' are very good examples of this.

But seriously, you will be hard pressed to find a band that brings it as constantly as these 5 incredible women do! They are truly versatile, with avery wide breadth of influences from which they draw, to be just familiar enough and not derivative of said influences. Honestly, you could just go to their channel and hit play all and you won't be disappointed. But if you need suggestions, I personally prefer the live videos because live is where it's at for any great band. But I would check out "Freedom", "Domination", "Daydreamong", "Blooming", "No God", "Cross", and their Band-Maiko stuff (an April Fools alter ego they came up with a few years ago that not only changes up their look, bud adds traditional Japanese instruments as well). That should give a good enough cross-section of what they're capable bringing to the party.
Aa you are a new channel, let me suggest the use of headphones. It will increase the experience and will help notice and appreciate a lot of the details of the music.

I am not really a huge lyrics guy for most bands, but Miku writes some pretty damn good lyrics and they are able to weave English and Japanese together pretty seemlessly, along with Saiki/Miku harmonics and back and forth vocals.
The more you dig into Band-Maid the more treasures you will find, not only are their songs that get singles/MV great but all songs on the albums. Theres so many good songs that fans have a real hard time on favorite lists/polls, compared to what I would say most bands the majority of the fanbase lists the top MV as their favorites.
IMHO, this song is about their experience with the tradition big corporate, highly controlling rock music industry, and "The Warning" here is that these old models for the music business wherever they are (including Japan), based on the American and British old models - notice the older big Cadillac and Jaguar - are poorly guided and will inevitably crash and burn.
The artists are precariously along for the ride on them...
