I hate that I am so late in understanding the significance of an E Book as a lead magnet. I have an account with Canva and have never used it. I have been scratching my head about how to generate leads for my business in a unique way,I see now that Canva is the tool I have not really been paying attention to. This is the best video I've seen about creating an eBook using Canva so far. The techniques presented were very helpful. However, I wished more time was spent on putting the content in the eBook. None of the videos I've seen thus far goes into the details of copying/pasting content from MS Word, for example. I assume I would have to manually copy/paste and adjust based on what fits on the Canva page. However, there may be an easier way that Canva provides. Great video though.
Awesome to hear and thank you for letting us know how to improve in the future. Your correct that you'll be stuck manually copying and pasting text from MS Word into text boxes. Then resizing those text boxes and pasting to the next page... It's a bit messy but that's the way to do it for now

That's really cool that you can flip back and forth from headshot to screenview. What software are you using to make your TH-cam videos?
Thank you... our editor uses Vegas pro but you can do it with any editing software. The entire video is recorded on a DLSR (Lumix G85) and Camtasia records the screen at the same time. Put the two together while editing and cut back and forth 👍

You can do the same thing and have the ebook linked up in the first video. If your not sure where to host your ebook, you can upload it to Google drive for free and create a shareable link.... It's what we do for a lot of our free offers.

@jasonwhaling, great tutorial! Do you know why I cannot see 'my designs' in the folder. At the homepage in the folder section which is there, i can see all my designs. But when I want to put the table of content folder together with my cover design, there does NOT appear 'my designs' via the folder section in this tab.. how to solve?
You may need to refresh the page or make sure that the design was in fact saved. After that I'm not sure why it's not showing up in your all designs section.

You have to download the ebook as a PDF and use your WordPress site or something like Google drive to host and share it. 👍
Hey Jason, is there a difference between the story format and the others? Does it effect the appearance of the ebook when downloaded or printed out?
Yes! The dimensions are different. The size can't be changed so choose a size you want your final ebook to be in. The mobile format is nice because it works well on desktop as well

You'll have to use the text box element, and manually copy paste in your text

Your allowed to bring your own photos and graphic asset's... It's more a matter of your usage agreement from the site you get them from. What's provided inside of Canva is safe for creating an ebook you intend to sell.
Very informative! Thank you so much Jason! I'm in sales and I'm creating an ebook to give away for lead generation. Lead generation seems to be the hardest part of sales. Any advice on what I can do to make my book more attractive from a design perspective?
From a design perspective for a lead magnet, I would say the cover is the most important part... so what you can do is make multiple covers and split test your landing page with the different designs to see which one works best.... involved I know but that would be the highest impact thing I think 🔥🎯

I found a template that I like but when I add a page, I cannot seem to switch from Book Covers to the other templates. I think I have clicked on every available tab and link on the page. You can't combine designs in the free version of Canva 😣
So you'll have to either re-create the cover in the design that has the table of contents or the reverse.

What happens after I include all my graphics into Canva and need to start putting in my text? Do I upload all the text onto Canva and save into PDF directly or do I have to transport all the graphics onto Word or something?
Both will work actually. When you have your graphics done, you can create a text box and start adding all of your text and then export as a PDF.... You can just as easily download your images and then add them to a word doc. It's a lot easer to formate your pages if you stick with Canva
Does the 30 page limit still apply? I heard it was 100 pages now. Also, I'm confused about the differences between ebooks for IG, Amazon, etc. Ideally, I'd like to sell on Amazon but I also want it to be available on Kindle and other devices. Is there an idea place to make this happen?
Canva is not the place to do that. You need to convert your file to epub for Kindle and a PDF is not a good starting point. You'll want to put your ebook text together in a word doc, create your images in Canva, and then put those images in the word doc to convert.... Not sure about the page limit increase on free acounts.

Unfortunately you'll have to copy the text manually. Using the Canva tex boxes you'll have to copy-paste the text from your doc and then format it so it looks good in the Canva version. For the page formatting, create a format you like and duplicate it over and over - then paste in your new text
Hi. I noticed in the beginning of your video you mentioned that an ebook was limited to 30 pages. I can't seem to find a way to contact Canva support, or any information about a page limit on their site. Is there a 30 page limit with the Pro version of Canva?
Great question. As far as I know, the 30 page limit still applies, irrespective of your plan or version.

What if I already have a word doc or pdf done how do I put it in Canva so it looks the way it is? And will that new page be printable the the ebook buyer? Or would I have to recreate it word for word?
You'd have to re-create what you have in Canva. There is not an import function. Once the design is made in Canva you can export it as a PDF... if you want to create an epub, then stick with word and just make your images in Canva, and export them to your word doc

You can't resize on the free version

Yes, for the folders inside of the editor you need Canva for work. If you want to organize your designs in the dashboard, you can have 3 folders for free 👍

You can write out the table of contents in Canva and then export it and use a tool like PDF Escape to create the in PDF hyperlinks. Same tool from this video (I think you watched it already but just in case 😁)...

You can have active links in your Canva ebook. You'll just want to double check your links after you paste them in to make sure they are linked correctly.

Yes, you can add your own images to your designs no problem. Just upload them to the design your want an your good to go!

They have been moved or renamed. All you need to do is go the the Canva template library from your main dashboard and search for them

I accidentally forgot that i shouldn't have used canva for kindle purposes, the problem now is that i am creating a recipe book its over a 100 pages on canva but i don't think how the page is margined is going to be accepted by kdp?What should i do now use Word?Can i use my canva ebook for other platforms?
Move your content to Word or a Google doc. Google Docs can now be exported in the epub format. I would recommend exporting your images individually in canva and then importing them into your document.... Sorry that's a lot of extra work
The free version of canva doesn't include your Ninja folder trick? As I don't seem to be able to save anything

If you need videos, it's not really and "ebook" anymore since you can't add those to a PDF doc.... I would recommend you check out Teachable or Thinkific since you'll need a place to host and protect videos

You have hyper link to videos but you won't be able to directly embed the video when exporting as a PDF. Canva does have some options in the paid plan to embed your video and share the design as a presentation and in that case yes, it could work

When filling the template with content that is already pre-typed how do I keep it together the lettering is spilling all over everywhere?
Changing the font size is the best way to handle that. It happens to me all the time since what I have and what is on the template rarely matches up perfectly👍

No... you can only export as a PDF. This is not designed to create ebooks for the epub format.

I want to upload my canva project to Amazon Kindle but If I upload in pdf, Amazon upload really bad the project without any colors etc, so It's ruined ..If i convert the PDF Canva project in Epub also the result is ruined . What Have I to do ?

Q: how would I post a free ebook on Facebook post? I made one using Sqribble (didn't know I could use Canva) but when people click the link, it does not take them to my ebook but instead to Sqribble sign on page...

You need to export it as a PDF, then upload it to something like Google Drive or Dropbox. Then share the link that way 👍

That's correct. You'll download it as a PDF and then send it to people 👍

That's correct. You can make the individual graphics for your Amazon book, but the book itself should be done with another program (like word) so it can be easily converted to epub.
