    All those times I could have finished the Witcher DLC or actually launch a rocket in Factorio. No. I'll spend six hours on one of my rare long gaming opportunities working on an automatic transmission. But one of the truly inspiring things about stormworks is you can take a break from your truck, and just go try to build a submarine...that turns into a truck (if you are so inclined).

    • @454ss_gaming
      @454ss_gaming  ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Right! :) That is totally right, and how I minimize burning out, but changing themes and trying something else for a while!

    • @RappelzWikiaPolska
      @RappelzWikiaPolska ปีที่แล้ว +1

      IF you need that much time to automatically transmission then it means you have no clue what you do so let me explain you how to do it in like 30 seconds: take microcontroller add logic for RPS and SPEED or Up/Down keys and outputs for how many gears you want, then take up/down counter add as many thresholds as gears, add less than and more than and 2 constant numbers to set your low change and high change from there connect on top of less and greater than your RPS/speed on button according the constant numbers. Bool output from great than connect to pulse then connect to Up in updown counter similar for the down option but less than now connect up down counter to your thresholds and set it depending on how many gears for 2 would be: gear 1 = 1:1 and gear 2=1:2 thane connect thresholds to the matching outputs and that way you have super basic transmission that took really 30 seconds to set up. If want more complex one that you actually do have control over PRND then use up and down key to operate second up and down counter and so similar thing to one before just remember to use pulse ;) easy as fuck if you know any logic gates

      You know... I've built a hydroplane that is hulls size 5 meter long and 2 meters width (6 with the wings), the way its so compact made me not sleeping 2 nights until I made it fully functional, bellow 20k$, GPS supported, pitch stabilized (almost), and carrying enough stuff to rescue people... I've got fucked up by making its cooling system more than else stuff over in the comment...

  • @EarlTheWhiteNinja

    I have to agree with everything you said. Stormworks is definetely a game that has a steep learning curve, but the end payoff in building something, is, I think, what makes this game so special. You could spend hours playing Red Dead Redemption, or GTA, and then beat the game with nothing to really show for it, but in Stormworks, if you spend hours building, the end goal is something *you* built, that is functional, and that in of itself, is rewarding enough to keep making me want to play the game, I just have to remember to pace myself lmao. I started building a research ship almost a year ago, now, and I thought initially it would be an easy project to familiarize myself with the game, and, well, I was half right. I know the game pretty well now, because I'm trying to incorporate lots of stuff, and it certainly has given me a basic understanding of most stuff in the game, but almost a year later and it's still not finished, but the end payoff is worth the burnout, I guess.😂

    • @454ss_gaming
      @454ss_gaming  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That is as if it was written by me 🎯 Couldn't agree more! End of the day, you create a working product, albeit virtual, to show for your time spent - so it is more productive than beating a story in another video game, which would be like watching a movie, you have the memory, but not actual product! It's not a race, so take your time! The point is if you're having fun creating it :)

      Exactly.

    • @pete5516
      @pete5516 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Another point is you learn life skills. People underestimate how useful logic is to learn, it’s a skill set that can even land you a job. The fact that stormworks encourages people to learn a career skill set such as engineering or programming is the beauty of it.

    Another awesome video. Learning how the parts can work with one another is honestly my favorite part of the game. I did the same thing you did, when I starting exploring this game. I very heartily agree start small and work your way up. I'm running a Classic Career as my first play through, with a creative sandbox for R&D test beds and first trials. Playing this way has allowed me to continue my Classic Career in a relaxed fashion. The one thing on game play I "learned" is run a series of 10 saves for your classic career and ALWAYS save before taking another step of the rescue. So many excess trips have been negated after failing the first attempt. Keep up the awesome work good sir! 😎

    • @454ss_gaming
      @454ss_gaming  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is an excellent way to play the game :) That way you don't mess your career mode, but you can explore and trial run and R&D! hahaha great point, always save!

    I really get point 3, I have yet to built any large bay ships, I like to make the biggest ships you can put in the small starter base shipyard, stuff like a small tanker, small container carrier, even started a truck to clear my head. Right now I started to change them all to be more maintainable and give them modular engines, since most were build before we had stuff like welders.
