Dude, Graves seemed to me easily top 3 of the best characters in the game, I really hope that for some reason he has not died, as well as Alex who did not die in the explosion of mw2019. thanks for this video AFGuidesHD
I think this is one of the best campaigns in COD history because how creative Infinity Ward was with every mission putting us in new scenarios and not just mindless shooting even if the game felt kinda short . Only problem with the story was that you can see the obvious betrayal a mile away , they could have made Graves a third playable character and gave player a choice in decision making of being a Mercenary and choose between the trust of your allies or what's best for business in given critical situations . That could have given the campaign more length and replaybility but fuuuck...these days AAA developers are not that creative are they?
I mean playing off the original MW2 and what the OG shadow company and shepherd does to you, I was not surprised for a betrayal, but I wish they took the story in a different direction. Then again, according to Machiavelli, you really can’t trust mercenaries to begin with as they aren’t reliable, are more concerned with money and may back out when they are concerned with their riches.
Yes. I liked him as a cocky protagonist and thought his betrayal/takeover (at Shepard's orders) was a little abrupt. And realistically I don't see how the Mexican government would allow a foreign PMC to take over one of their bases in the first place. CoD logic I guess.
Subtleties like these make it obvious that he is involved if he is avoiding who the missiles are from. Why ignore who sent them, that would be useful unless you're involved or the cause. Love the hints for newer players
knowing what Shadow Company did in modern warfare 2 it was fully expected Graves would betray ghost and task force 141 in here. they were highly trained mercs hired by general shepherd to be his own little task force. since Shepherd was a military general. there were laws in place for certain. things you can and cannot do. that's why he went rogue. because his mercenaries can do things for him. now both modern warfare 2,s have a different story. general shepherd started shadow Company to kill Makarov and get revenge for what he did. he wanted to be the hero that stopped Makarov and ww3. that's why he turned on ghost and roach during loose ends in the original. shepherd was mad about Makarov detonating the nukes in cod 4. now this Sheppard voiced by the legendary transformers general. Glenn morshower and also the OG overlord in MW2. his character is mad because he let down his men to cover himself because of the failed delivery. since the Russian pmcs took the missiles and gave them to Hassan. shadow Company is a tactical group of highly trained mercs working for Sheppard. they usually wear all black tact gear with advanced weaponry. riot shields, blacked out vehicles. even regular military humvees. they all carry walkie talkies and are in private smaller squads. they commit war crimes too.
When the trailer came out with general shepherd’s voice I knew that the character behind it was the same from the movie “Transformers” but I totally forgot about another fact that this wasn’t his first time 😅
I love this games campaign and I still find it pretty realistic/convincing how he at least gave them a chance to retire and move on with their lives after this. Makes it all the more believable and heart breaking, because they could’ve walked away and spared themselves the trouble, but at the cost of saving his men. Just how shepherd was willing to go all out to save his reputation on losing the missiles even going as far to order the executions of innocents, we see a lot of that in the real modern world. This modern warfare series really does put the characters in some hard realistic scenarios with tough calls and consequences for either sides of decisions. Even shepherd did this with making captain price look hypocritical “we get dirty so the world stays clean” “sometimes you got to do bad in order to do some good” kinda sucks being on the other end of the baton eh?
Hated how this game's writing make TF141 look like impulsive amateurs... special operator forces starting a war against eachother over that? It just makes me root for Graves, the 'bad' guy.
I was thinking to myself at the oil rig "I really like this character... I wonder if he'll betray us" 5 seconds later "This base is mine now, lol" *Shadow team goes bbrrrrr* That being said, I wouldn't think he's dead. We never see his body and I think he doesn't get the screen time he deserves
@Michael Hess idc what y'all think I couldn't do the mission anyways, I just skipped to the Chicago part... And his death was underwhelming, he's probably still alive since we didn't really see him die
i think its a waste to just kill the character like that.... dudes great and i hope he comes back in the next game.. would love to have an actual fight when we meet him and sheperd
@@JJempire04 I dunno. I'm just saying they finally made a likeable but ORIGINAL character and immediately killed him. But he might not be dead. Just like Alex and most games, if you don't see them die, they probably aren't dead. We never had evidence that he was in the tank.
Hmmm it's weird cause specgru has Shadow Company operators, as well as the ai soldiers being shadow company. Korvac is the Russian pmcs from the campaign along with AQ soldiers as operators and ai soldiers. Although most of the operators aside from 141 are mercs I think
Something I just noticed during the Hassan interrogation; when he asks Graves where the missiles they stole were going, Graves dodges the question and Shepherd tries to change the subject, saying he “doesn’t care where they came from”. We don’t know it yet at this point in the story, but Graves and Shepherd both know that Hassan having the missiles to begin with is their fault, and they want to keep it a secret.
I don’t believe graves is dead because his “death” in the campaign was a little underwhelming also we only saw the tank explode much like how Alex blew up in the building but survived I think they’ll want him as a multiplayer operator you can choose because he’s popular and therefore putting him in the warzone lore
@@tuckertalkztv3602 or he heard about the C4 from the conversation with Soap, so he might secretly abandon the tank and watch it explode in the distance.
I don't see how he is the bad guy. The missiles were Sheppard's fault, he put himself on the ground with his men and destroyed the second missile, he checked on Alejandro after it blew up, he detains the mexican special forces instead of killing them because of a possible connection to el sin nombre which makes sense considering how many mexican LEO are in the cartels pockets. He gives Soap, Ghost and Alejandro a chance to walk away and could've easily finished off Soap but doesn't and kills corrupt cops in the city, only targeting the main characters after the fire fight at the gate, did I miss something ?
he's the bad guy because the writers decided he was and so they made him kill a bunch of civilians so the dumb audience could really tell they were the bad guys. [We'll just forget about the bit where the good guys kill civilians tho in the Borderline mission]
The base wasn’t filled with Mexican Nationals other than the Los Vaqueros, who are not corrupt and fight against corruption. His commandeering of the base was aggressive.
@@AFGuidesHD Despite the civilians not deserving it and just wanting to protect themselves, they shot first and endangered capturing Hassan, someone who couple kill thousands, even millions in a click of a button.
He still detained Alejandro’s men. He says they can walk away, but did he really think acting like a dick and being snarky about capturing Allie’s was gonna end any way beyond a gun fight? It doesn’t help that he doesn’t even try to de escalate the situation. He just says “this is my base now, fuck off.” Doesn’t give any explanation, and when things get frisky he immediately goes for intimidation. Lastly, he’s very patronizing during his boss battle. Doesn’t seem remorseful for having to kill Soap and mocks Rudy. Loved him right until his betrayal though.
Ghost sounds like an older version of his voice from the original MW2 even though he is voiced by a different voice actor but his voice sounds similar.
I don't think Graves is a terrible guy. I just think he was taking orders from a terrible guy. He's all about completing the mission, but he does care deeply for his team, so he's not really all for money or power. 19:55 You can tell how concerned he was when his men were in danger and requested support for them from Shepard. Would've love to explore of his background story as well.
Some say shepherd in this universe is less charismatic than shepherd in the original universe. But it gives me chills when he said "where the missile was coming from doesnt matter". Was a hint of himself turning soon imo.
What makes it even better is that it doesn’t turn until he mentions Shepard’s involvement in the situation. He betrays them well before that but only when he confirms Shepard is behind this does he become an enemy.
Coincidentally,in Uncharted 4,Rafe hired a PMC called Shoreline in order to locate the treasure and provide security for him.In MW2,Rafe's actor Warren Kole voices the guy who basically leads a PMC.
"DO NOT SPEAK HIS NAME" scared tf outta me when I first played. amazing acting. when you load in the game it says "sweat and tears went into this game" and I believe it
Playing this on veteran when he has a tank dying constantly hearing him say “THAT UNIFORM WAS A LIMITATION I SHED THAT SKIN” made me go mentally insane
Graves is an absolute unit and seems to be an effective leader. It’s a damn shame that he turns on you but the best villains make you wish they are on your side. I’d have a beer with him provided an opportunity. I wouldn’t mind seeing a Shadow Company DLC expansion for the campaign. I’d imagine they and Shepherd have a long history filled with potential content. Maybe as a lead up to knowing more about the chase against Makarov. Looking forward to Sandman and/or Alex returning for MW3 in 2024/25.
I love myself a loveable villain. Probably my second favorite character in the game after Alejandro and that cartel mommy Valeria. Love his chaotic chill mannerisms and cynicism. Not that I support him, I just love how his brutality and hostility to whoever stands on his way is done. So far "Don't do that. Don't. Do. That." is my favorite line, of all the things he said.
Part of me feels like he's still alive and that tank was controlled remotely. I think they would've done something a little extra with him if he was really dead. Plus the flight attendant in the post credit scene kinda looks and sounds like him.
I kinda wish they made him the character that was supposed to betray TF141 through Shepard orders but he doesn’t go through with it and becomes an enemy to Shadow company
Shadow company has a lot of mercs. If Graves was a founding member/own the company I can see Shepard trying to have him replaced by one of his money hungry lieutenants who sold him out. Mercs become mercs either because they couldn’t leave the military life behind, for the money or it’s all they really know. In a profession that the only morals are that of the dollar bill, trust is a much more valued commodity. Trust is what with your men/your commander is what separates you as a comrade in arms from a expendable like a hand grenade. Hearing a commander like Graves got wasted by one of the LTs and took over would have at least made several squads or platoon’s worth of men leave if Shadow Company is a battalion sized asset. Greaves would have had men on his side to jump ship immediately and more on the inside willing to work with him.
@Korvo's Expedition lol. You never see him getting into the tank. And the entire conversation hes having with Soap it never even once indicates he's inside. Explosion, no body, just the other guy who pops up from inside the tank... You can't be that gullable but hey, just an opinion.
The AC130 and oil rig mission won me over for graves. Please bring him back as a playable character. Respect that he has a realistic southern accent and personality, would be a shame for him to die in such a wack ending.
Nothing like a handsome, charismatic asshole with memorable voice lines to sway that meter from villain to thinking he's actually somewhat one of the good guys. Really can sell the world a lie, so long as it comes in a pretty package.
[The "betrayal" scene in a sane world] Graves "General Shepard wants us to take over the Hassan operation." Price "I don't like it, but okay, it's his call." *roll credits*
His betrayal hits almost as hard as Shepards in the original MW2. Especially since Graves actually fights alongside us and seems to have a sort of trust with Ghost and Soap, only to show his true colors. Shepherd was always in the background giving orders, so the shock wasn’t in relation to him, it was the shooting of Roach and Ghost. In this case, the shock comes from Graves seeming like a trustworthy guy but in reality he was the worst type of mercenary.

Dude, Graves seemed to me easily top 3 of the best characters in the game, I really hope that for some reason he has not died, as well as Alex who did not die in the explosion of mw2019.
thanks for this video AFGuidesHD
12:45 "C'mon, since when does Shepherd care about danger close?"
N o
at least 1/4 of the missions use the same gameplay scenarios from mw 2019 but with a slight twist. like the cctv sections
Dude you contradicted your own statement lmao

Yes. I liked him as a cocky protagonist and thought his betrayal/takeover (at Shepard's orders) was a little abrupt. And realistically I don't see how the Mexican government would allow a foreign PMC to take over one of their bases in the first place. CoD logic I guess.
Or not killed him.

He wasn’t angry for letting down his men he just wanted to clear his mess and save his own skin
Sheperd didn’t care about his men. Graves did
@@whitezombie10 "Since when does Shepherd care about danger close"
-Random Ranger-
When the trailer came out with general shepherd’s voice I knew that the character behind it was the same from the movie “Transformers” but I totally forgot about another fact that this wasn’t his first time 😅
I love this games campaign and I still find it pretty realistic/convincing how he at least gave them a chance to retire and move on with their lives after this.
"I admire it … so am takin it." Typical America right here 😂😂

@@JJempire04 I dunno. I'm just saying they finally made a likeable but ORIGINAL character and immediately killed him. But he might not be dead. Just like Alex and most games, if you don't see them die, they probably aren't dead. We never had evidence that he was in the tank.
Hmmm it's weird cause specgru has Shadow Company operators, as well as the ai soldiers being shadow company. Korvac is the Russian pmcs from the campaign along with AQ soldiers as operators and ai soldiers. Although most of the operators aside from 141 are mercs I think
“I want the missiles, I want the target and I want Hassan. You’ve got 10 seconds before I show you the difference between the military and me.”
I started to love this guy but when he betrayed us it made me so mad we lost a good character 😢
They did him dirty without a proper death scene, compared to the other key villains in the series.
Or perhaps his unseen death means that he will return in MW3
They cutscenes are done so well it’s makes me think they should start making Films
Honestly, I would payed to watch in theaters
Especially because the storylines are good
I don’t believe graves is dead because his “death” in the campaign was a little underwhelming also we only saw the tank explode much like how Alex blew up in the building but survived I think they’ll want him as a multiplayer operator you can choose because he’s popular and therefore putting him in the warzone lore

"-Or i'm gonna show you the difference between the Military and me." has to be Graves' best line imo
Thanks!
Philip Graves? Fill up Graves. Shadow Company? Real close on the nose there.
sort of like "Robin Banks" lmao
Ghost sounds like an older version of his voice from the original MW2 even though he is voiced by a different voice actor but his voice sounds similar.
Wish we got a full length on the ground mission as Graves or another Shadow Company merc, they're badass. Yup-yup!
19:40 That's why Graves betrayed shepard! It all makes sense to me now!
I don't think Graves is a terrible guy. I just think he was taking orders from a terrible guy. He's all about completing the mission, but he does care deeply for his team, so he's not really all for money or power. 19:55 You can tell how concerned he was when his men were in danger and requested support for them from Shepard. Would've love to explore of his background story as well.
sadly shepherd refuse to help
Some say shepherd in this universe is less charismatic than shepherd in the original universe. But it gives me chills when he said "where the missile was coming from doesnt matter". Was a hint of himself turning soon imo.
Original shepherd was more badass and charismatic by a long shot graves was the speaker for shepherd in this reboot
18:33 idk why but I just love this line. It always makes me chuckle
The color of Graves' name changing from blue to red in 15:48 is a fun little attention to detail.
"Come on, legend"
"DO NOT SPEAK HIS NAME" scared tf outta me when I first played. amazing acting. when you load in the game it says "sweat and tears went into this game" and I believe it
Playing this on veteran when he has a tank dying constantly hearing him say “THAT UNIFORM WAS A LIMITATION I SHED THAT SKIN” made me go mentally insane
Same as Pyrocynical when he was trying to finish the game on Veteran.
Never have I seen a more southern PMC operator in my time in playing CoD and I love it
worst thing about betrayal is that it doesn't come from your enemy.

No no no. Its either You know i love that shit! Or Get the fuck out of my eleevador 😡
That was no Russian
Lmao different characters you helluva reaching
I'm certain we will see so more cool characters come from the merc company.
Valeria didn’t give graves or ghost any shit cause she knows they both wouldn’t hesitate to put her down
Would’ve been great to see him as another villain in mw3
Ain't no way Graves is dead
@Korvo's Expedition lol. You never see him getting into the tank. And the entire conversation hes having with Soap it never even once indicates he's inside. Explosion, no body, just the other guy who pops up from inside the tank... You can't be that gullable but hey, just an opinion.

He's so badass. Too bad he betrayed us.
