Originally "The Canadian Brass Live" was a record album, or audio tape, and you could only sit back and try to visualize what was going on during their tribute to the ballet. A year later, this live video came out on VHS (and later DVD) so you could see what was going on. However, they are not the same concerts and have different but similar playlists. Some of the funny speaking lines were cut out on the DVD. If you enjoy this video, I highly recommend getting the original CD version as a companion piece.
I remember I was at a live performance of theirs 50 yrs ago @ the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver. I had a seat in front row of Balcony. The very next night I saw a performance of Maurice Andre accompanied only with the Organ on stage.
We own this DVD and the original CD before it. They are great, a lot of fun. I've seen them in concert twice. There is something missing though from the original VHS version. After the first number, they say "That concludes our first encore!", then explain to the audience that the first number they played, "A Closer Walk with Thee", was not listed in the program. I recommend getting the CD album for some stuff not in this version, but of course you won't see what they're doing in the Ballet, which is a must.
I was at one of their performances where Chuck Daellenbach, tuba player, sat in the middle of the crowd for the one piece. He was directly in front of me and I had wondered why there was one empty seat in an otherwise sold out performance. But he did another fun thing. He had some sheet music with him and asked a person in the row in front of him to hold the music for him. (Of course, he didn't really need the sheet music). Actually, it was a very interesting, and different, to hear the sound coming from the various corners of the theater.
Can someone talk about the shepherds crook trumpet that Fred is playing? I am acquainted with shepherds crook cornets but have never seen this trumpet design.
Graehme Page! What a stylish horn player! Do a wiki on him, sometime. He's just great!! Of course, I think this is Martin Hackleman playing horn - ANOTHER stylish horn player!!!! Do a wiki on him, sometime. He's just as great!!!

No volume /sound at all the last piece. What happened? Enjoyed the rest of the show tremendously.
30:00 Gotta love breaking into some La bohème (an opera), then the can-can from Offenbach's operatic Orpheus in the Underworld!
Thanks for sharing
Wonderful
Lovely,
Absolutely first-rate!!!
Lost audio for Boy Mozart but otherwise brilliant!
This band is great!
But - The last minutes of the video are silent. 😞
Man, I miss the brilliance of Ron's sound.
Great “live” entertainment!
Wow
Who knows, what year was this concert filmed?

I believe it is a long cornet, probably in Bb. Notice it is considerably shorter than Ronnie's trumpet - in Eb, I think.
Louisius Strongarm brilliance
Thank you for posting the video, but how come the Boy Mozart tune was muted?

What happened to the audio at the end? Did TH-cam delete it?
I never knew the previous occupants of my current apartment. I can't learn who they are. Her mom won't let me.
What's the song in the middle of the "tribute to the ballet" wich the french horn does the solo?
That's Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet - Fantasy Overture
1. Classic 3 eck
