@Rick V Yes! To my great surprise, this is the first time I've seen anybody mention New Britain. This is, by far, the worst one I've seen in CT. Once I got lost here in broad daylight. I was afraid to stop and ask directions anywhere, and I was so glad to find my way out. People have mentioned New Haven and, perhaps it's not a good city to live in, but it has many good ethnic restaurants, at least in the Yale area. There are certainly many areas here where I would not like to get lost at night, having done so on several ocassions. I live in Hamden and like it a lot. However, property taxes are high and continue to rise. Cost of living in CT in general is extremely high, and State taxes are ridiculous.
I feel ya brother, I lived in Connecticut for 11 years and it is definitely a place that will tax the grass on your lawn if they could. Love the place a bunch but definitely not a place I’d want to live again as a working man. 😎👍
Just moved here and it is weird. So many taxes. Paying taxes on a depreciating asset is kind of crazy. Wished I had done more research before moving out here. Not to mention the rates that jobs pays. Looking to get out in the next couple of years. Nice homes but not for me

If you dont get sharon and canaan you shouldnt be posting videos about CT. The northwest hills in litchfield county are littered with the rich and famous who take advantage of the gorgeous real estate, serene lifestyle and the less than 2 hour drive from mid-town manhatten. Western CT is the beverly hills of the east coast, but it's for those who dont want to be seen or found or bothered.
I suspect you either don't travel much or have never looked at a CT map? Can say he was pretty much right about every town on list. Many of these towns have failed not due to there location, but who runs the towns. Winsted for example. I've lived there. Towns run by a democrat women who is constantly raising taxes and providing no better services for it. Much of its businesses have moved out for no good incentive to stay.
I get that this is a humorous video, but your assessment of wanting to live in CT vs NY seems to ignore the fact that a good amount of that rich 1% in Fairfield county are people who commute to the City for work, but don't want to live in NY.

I love Bethel!!! I owned my home on Redwood Drive for 15 yrs in the Stoney Hill area off of Rt.6, between Brookfield & Newtown, it was the best place to raise my two daughter’s!!! Plus, you have Blue Jay Orchards for homemade pie’s, donuts, apple picking, pumpkin picking plus, the Haunted Hay Ride & Haunted House during Halloween!!! There’s the wonderful Hallandia Nursery for all your Spring & Summer gardening needs!!! And, you have the BEST Pizza ever at Armondo’s Pizza & restaurant... I’m originally from Long Island, NY born & raised so, I know my pizza!!! And then there’s downtown which is like a little country hometown feel especially, during the Memorial Day Parades with & the best homemade Ice cream ever at Dr. Mikes ice cream, I suggest the Chocolate Lace!!! LOL... There’s also the beautiful town parks, the school park & going to the high school football games is like what you see on TV & movies, Cheerleaders included plus, actress Meg Ryan graduated from Bethel High School!!! Everything you need, stores like HomeGoods, Sally’s Beauty Supply, excellent restaurants like Chili’s or Outback or specialty cafe’s, salons, gas stations, convenient stores, Duncan Donuts, Target, CVS & to go grocery shopping at Stop & Shop, etc., is right there over several boarder area’s between Bethel & Danbury, which Bethel used to be a part of before Danbury broke up & that area right up the hill both ways, became Bethel!!! And least not forget, let’s not forget about Stew Leonard’s & Bagelman Bagels not too far!!! I don’t know where this guy got his info but, he is out right WRONG about Bethel!!! I’m now retired & I live on the Treasure Coast of Florida & love it here too but, I do miss my gorgeous house & beautiful property, on 2 acres with the woods in the back behind my house, in the upscale development we lived in... Where everyone is so friendly & watch out for each other’s kids while playing & riding their bikes in the neighborhood!!! And the area has built up a little on RT.6 since I left, which is a good thing!!! The jewelry store, which in now on the corner of my old street out on RT.6, the owners themselves live in my old neighborhood & so does the Chief of the Fire Department plus, the former owners of the old Stoney Hill Inn lived there too!!! The whole town is wonderful & if you want some of the best Sushi or Japanese in the country, go to The House of Yosheida right there in downtown Bethel, you will not ever be disappointed!!! Nope. Electric Boat, sub builder, is in Groton. Just north of there, in Gales Ferry to be exact, you'll find SuBase NLON. I know, wrong side of the river even, but the USN does that often, like having Portsmouth NH shipyard in Kittery Me, or Norfolk VA shipyard in Chesapeake VA. Kinda systemic.

I live in the City of Groton my whole entire life (35 years). Groton has all ethnicities, and has very good schools. Just because we had a couple bad apples doesn't mean our town should make top 10 worst cities in CT. We live in a very safe city since we have the sub base, the military base, and whatever is left of Pfizer.

Waterford here! Grew up in Griswold. Eastern Ct minus New London is actually a great place to live. Although, the super high taxes, horrible roads, and almost 0 Government Service, looking at you DMV, make living in CT not the greatest. If the taxes werent so damned high, and the traffic not so damned horrible, and the general cost of living not astronomical this state would be great. Ow, and if the State Government wasn't inhabited by morons, this state would be AWESOME! But alas, we have what we have!

Maddox Formica My office is in Hartford and they didn’t all leave...Travelers and The Hartford who are two of the largest auto insurers are definitely still there. Then in terms insurers you still have Aetna, United Health, Prudential, Hartford Steam boiler, and Cigna. Not exactly gone.
That Bethel was #10 was interesting. It is a relatively expensive, middle/upper middle class town with good schools, lots of parks and open spaces, a great arts community. The drivers aren't so hot, but I'm sure there are worse places in Connecticut.

I worked in Groton Connecticut. If you are unemployed in Groton it's because you're not applying for job. The naval always hiring so is electric boat so is Pfizer, Frinch high School is actually a good school. And somehow New London is not on this list
I was kind of surprised to see Groton on the list. Groton is the Submarine Capital of the world. The navy population in the town is fantastic for business. The Fitch High School (the high school in Groton) was rated one of the top high schools in the state. Crime is low. But, Yeah real estate is way overpriced.

Listen, I was born and raised in CT my whole life. My parents and family members are still there, however, just as you said, it sucks to live as a middle class person. I moved last year to New Hampshire. There are jobs everywhere currently for people that are willing to work. Just go for it. You won’t regret it.

I came to Connecticut in 1989, it was a sane, purple state with balanced, common sense government on the local and congressional level, the slide down started in 1992 when they enacted a state income tax...and it continues till this day. Businesses left, great manufacturing companies closed or moved out. Liberal insanity approaches the Californian level, but at least they have a great weather to enjoy a year -round, we don't. If not for a great job with a great company (miraculously they stayed...) I'll be outta here in a heartbeat! I told my kids, once you graduate, go for the door and never look back at this place, there is NO future here and NO way to icke-out a decent living anymore. unless you are uber-rich or dirt poor on government dole, CT is not a place for you.
Putnam....been here about 30 years. Been employed at the same place for 20+. Theres work for those who can pass the drug tests, show up every day, and put in the effort.
Vernon-Rockville, East Hartford, Windsor, Bloomfield, Willimantic, Manchester, Stafford Springs, West Hartford, New Britain, Southington, Newington, Wethersfield, the list goes on
Ok here the thing about living in a small town in CT where nothing happens. We like that nothing happens. Mostly quiet living. MOSTLY! OK but if I want to do something exciting I can be in Hartford, Providence, New Haven, in an hour and Boston or New York in 2 hours. So you know that's why we here. Plus a lot people work in the cities and live 20 miles away in a nice house. City money, country living
from my experience, Willimantic is definitely the worst on this list. Lots of hillbillies, drugs and junkyards. Yet somehow, the state predicts Windham, (the township Willimantic is located in) to increase in population by 50 percent over the next 20 years! Everyone is leaving this state, so that didn't make much sense to me. (btw, you pronounced Canaan wrong. Here in CT, its pronounced "kay-nen")

I grew up in Waterbury just one Conn city decimated by deindustrialization. Further economic erosion came about with military budget cutbacks- General Dynamics, Pratt and Whitney just shells of their former selves. Add corrupt politicians and an enormous tax burden to the mix, and yeah you end up with a broke working class. Many of the towns mentioned are, however, stunningly pituresque.
I grew up in Waterbury as well. I didn't realize he was only doing small towns until the end. I was amazed that Bridgeport and Waterbury weren't on the list. Or that he didn't mention the high rates of opiod addiction in some of the towns he named.

Only thing is there is big old money in parts of this state and 95% of all crimes,crashes, killing, ect will never make any statistics. But everything is expensive here. The poor will stay poor while the rich makes loved ones rich, come to Connecticut and ull see so many rich people that would never be well off. It's only because they have old money. Still this videos was right in areas. The cops out here run unbelievably deep and Connecticut is small. You can drive corner to corner in 2hrs , across in 1 1/2 hours and top to bottom in an hr. I live near Putnam. No way is this the worst town in the state. The east part is rural, while the western part includes downtown and many old mills along the Quinebaug River. Most of the mills are still working. The largest, in the downtown area has been rehabbed into housing. There's a new town government building. There are many parks and seasonal events and fairs. Crime rate is very low. One of the biggest plusses is location. Less than an hour to Providence or Hartford, half hour to Worcester, hour and a quarter to Boston. It's antique mecca with numerous good restaurants. A hidden gem in the Quiet Corner. 👍

It's not what you're telling people. It's really not ALL that bad. Except for Bridgeport the bane of our Connecticut existence. The reason behind the high prices is the same reason why prices going up in AZ...California rich move here and mess everything up. New Yorkers tired of NY move here and screw it up for everybody. I know Terryville , Winsted (heroin problem, I think) North Canaan is quaint and pretty, Wilimantic is rough, Sharon is gorgeous and quiet and rich. I just read CT is 50 out of 50 as worst drivers in the USA. According to this guy, most of these towns have several car accidents. The weather is great here from April through December.
Bethel is a beautiful small town with 3 bookstores and a very nice library. Excellent ice cream. Great funky coffee shop. An agricultural supply store near the train station, everything within walking distance. Easy to meet new people. Pretty close to Western CT State University. Safe. What's not to like?
well technically Hazardville is a borough of Enfield which in it self is a shit hole. A radio DJ years ago who was from just over the border in MA said that everyone in his high school would go to enfield and Hazardville to pick up loose women lol.

I grew up in suffield since I was 2 years old. In March, I just moved to Windsor, but more so closer to Windsor locks. I’ve always considered Windsor locks as a home.

I live in Glastonbury too. Move from the shit hole East Hartford. Talk about a nice town that went down the crapper quick. When Pratt started to down size and move to FL in the late 80’s, EH went to shit. Blows my mind how Gbury, next town over thrives and continues to grow business not run them out. South Windsor is pretty close to Gbury east of the river.
Central CT has some gorgeous towns and ppl exceptionally nice. Like he says...if you can get a higher paying job here you will like it....however, not enough high paying jobs...good companies keep leaving CT bc of bad govt.
That picture of the red building in Bethel was formerly a bike shop called Bethel Cycle. Now, it’s been converted into a local gastrobrewery called Broken Symmetry. My uncle owns it, it’s pretty cool!

The only one that truly surprised me was Bethel...It's actually a very nice town in Fairfield county...Little to no crime, good schools, about an hour from NYC, right next to some of the most expensive towns in America. The rest of the towns are basically in the boondocks, populated by people that only live there, because they were born there.

Litchfield, Cornwall, Sharon, Northfield, Kent, are lovely towns to raise families, garden, know our neighbors, and come home to. I was born and raised in northwestern ct. Can say he was pretty much right about every town on list. Many of these towns have failed not due to there location, but who runs the towns. Winsted for example. I've lived there. Towns run by a democrat women who is constantly raising taxes and providing no better services for it. Much of its businesses have moved out for no good incentive to stay.

Plus, you have Blue Jay Orchards for homemade pie’s, donuts, apple picking, pumpkin picking plus, the Haunted Hay Ride & Haunted House during Halloween!!! There’s the wonderful Hallandia Nursery for all your Spring & Summer gardening needs!!! And, you have the BEST Pizza ever at Armondo’s Pizza & restaurant... I’m originally from Long Island, NY born & raised so, I know my pizza!!! And then there’s downtown which is like a little country hometown feel especially, during the Memorial Day Parades with & the best homemade Ice cream ever at Dr. Mikes ice cream, I suggest the Chocolate Lace!!! There’s also the beautiful town parks, the school park & going to the high school football games is like what you see on TV & movies, Cheerleaders included plus, actress Meg Ryan graduated from Bethel High School!!! Nope. Electric Boat, sub builder, is in Groton. Just north of there, in Gales Ferry to be exact, you'll find SuBase NLON. I know, wrong side of the river even, but the USN does that often, like having Portsmouth NH shipyard in Kittery Me, or Norfolk VA shipyard in Chesapeake VA. Kinda systemic.

I live in the City of Groton my whole entire life (35 years). Groton has all ethnicities, and has very good schools. Just because we had a couple bad apples doesn't mean our town should make top 10 worst cities in CT. We live in a very safe city since we have the sub base, the military base, and whatever is left of Pfizer.

Waterford here! Grew up in Griswold. Eastern Ct minus New London is actually a great place to live. Although, the super high taxes, horrible roads, and almost 0 Government Service, looking at you DMV, make living in CT not the greatest. If the taxes werent so damned high, and the traffic not so damned horrible, and the general cost of living not astronomical this state would be great. Ow, and if the State Government wasn't inhabited by morons, this state would be AWESOME! But alas, we have what we have!

That Bethel was #10 was interesting. It is a relatively expensive, middle/upper middle class town with good schools, lots of parks and open spaces, a great arts community. The drivers aren't so hot, but I'm sure there are worse places in Connecticut.

The Fitch High School (the high school in Groton) was rated one of the top high schools in the state.

Listen, I was born and raised in CT my whole life. My parents and family members are still there, however, just as you said, it sucks to live as a middle class person. I moved last year to New Hampshire. There are jobs everywhere currently for people that are willing to work. Just go for it. You won’t regret it.

I came to Connecticut in 1989, it was a sane, purple state with balanced, common sense government on the local and congressional level, the slide down started in 1992 when they enacted a state income tax...and it continues till this day. Businesses left, great manufacturing companies closed or moved out. Liberal insanity approaches the Californian level, but at least they have a great weather to enjoy a year -round, we don't.
If not for a great job with a great company (miraculously they stayed...) I'll be outta here in a heartbeat! I told my kids, once you graduate, go for the door and never look back at this place, there is NO future here and NO way to icke-out a decent living anymore. unless you are uber-rich or dirt poor on government dole, CT is not a place for you.

Ok here the thing about living in a small town in CT where nothing happens. We like that nothing happens. Mostly quiet living. MOSTLY! OK but if I want to do something exciting I can be in Hartford, Providence, New Haven, in an hour and Boston or New York in 2 hours. So you know that's why we here. Plus a lot people work in the cities and live 20 miles away in a nice house. City money, country living
from my experience, Willimantic is definitely the worst on this list. Lots of hillbillies, drugs and junkyards. Yet somehow, the state predicts Windham, (the township Willimantic is located in) to increase in population by 50 percent over the next 20 years! Everyone is leaving this state, so that didn't make much sense to me. (btw, you pronounced Canaan wrong. Here in CT, its pronounced "kay-nen")

I grew up in Waterbury just one Conn city decimated by deindustrialization. Further economic erosion came about with military budget cutbacks- General Dynamics, Pratt and Whitney just shells of their former selves. Add corrupt politicians and an enormous tax burden to the mix, and yeah you end up with a broke working class. Many of the towns mentioned are, however, stunningly pituresque.
I grew up in Waterbury as well. I didn't realize he was only doing small towns until the end. I was amazed that Bridgeport and Waterbury weren't on the list. Or that he didn't mention the high rates of opiod addiction in some of the towns he named.
Connecticut is terrible no matter what. That's why I moved to Pennsylvania.

Only thing is there is big old money in parts of this state and 95% of all crimes,crashes, killing, ect will never make any statistics. But everything is expensive here. I live near Putnam. No way is this the worst town in the state. The east part is rural, while the western part includes downtown and many old mills along the Quinebaug River. Most of the mills are still working. The largest, in the downtown area has been rehabbed into housing. There's a new town government building. There are many parks and seasonal events and fairs. Crime rate is very low. One of the biggest plusses is location. Less than an hour to Providence or Hartford, half hour to Worcester, hour and a quarter to Boston. It's antique mecca with numerous good restaurants. A hidden gem in the Quiet Corner. 👍

It's not what you're telling people. It's really not ALL that bad. Except for Bridgeport the bane of our Connecticut existence. The reason behind the high prices is the same reason why prices going up in AZ...California rich move here and mess everything up. New Yorkers tired of NY move here and screw it up for everybody. I know Terryville , Winsted (heroin problem, I think) North Canaan is quaint and pretty, Wilimantic is rough, Sharon is gorgeous and quiet and rich. I just read CT is 50 out of 50 as worst drivers in the USA. According to this guy, most of these towns have several car accidents. The weather is great here from April through December.

Bethel is a beautiful small town with 3 bookstores and a very nice library. Excellent ice cream. Great funky coffee shop. An agricultural supply store near the train station, everything within walking distance. Easy to meet new people. Pretty close to Western CT State University. Safe. What's not to like?

When Pratt started to down size and move to FL in the late 80’s, EH went to shit. Blows my mind how Gbury, next town over thrives and continues to grow business not run them out. I've lived in Connecticut most of my life, including a couple of the towns you named. There are many towns that have even lower crime rates and are even more boring than these. You're right. It's a terrible place. Please don't move here.

Canon? How bout pronouncing Canaan, properly
The only one that truly surprised me was Bethel...It's actually a very nice town in Fairfield county...Little to no crime, good schools, about an hour from NYC, right next to some of the most expensive towns in America. The rest of the towns are basically in the boondocks, populated by people that only live there, because they were born there.
Bethel is fine he knows not of what hes talking about, want to see a real sh!t town go to New Haven
Berlin CT great place to live! Hes kind of right here, he chose super rural towns though. If you like the outdoors CT has mountains to hike, lakes, and beaches, plenty of stuff to do

BTW, your #5 - North Canaan and Canaan, CT - has a picture from NEW CANAAN, which is nowhere near those towns.

You're so right! Thankfully he completely missed the point about our rural quiet small towns of northwestern Ct. Litchfield, Cornwall, Sharon, Northfield, Kent, are lovely towns to raise families, garden, know our neighbors, and come home to. I was born and raised in northwestern ct. For many years we had the #1 public education system in the USA. I live in the Carolinas now, and I miss my old new England home every fall. Wishing you and yours all the best!
Yes I agree. I live in Falls Village and I would put Falls Village sharon Cornwall’ and Kent in the top 5 most beautiful places in CT. This list is wrong. North canaan however is pretty trashy hahaha
And I forgot to mention lakeville/Salisbury! That might be the most beautiful
@@aydenzucco5486 When it finally gets to be high summer up there, I hope you'll take a ride/drive from Northfield, up through Goshen then to Barkhampstead past the reservoir...the cool sunset mists roll up the mountains crossing the road...heavenly. You can smell the hot tar roads, while that icy cool mist refreshes your face... beautiful state forest lands there, etched into my memory. Stay safe and well!
Who else’s goes on vacation to a different state and then come back and realize what a fucking mess state we live in. We probably have the worst drivers, miserable people and our taxes are sucking us dry. It’s super difficult to even move out with having taxes pulling you down

Really nice pictures! Should you rely on statistics so heavily? Would be interesting to interview people who live in these towns. I’ll bet folks who live in the so-called worst towns really enjoy being there.. everything looks nice and clean, lawn are well manicured, not much traffic, very pretty little towns.
