I don't have a computer aided drag car, so learning about adjusting suspension is very handy to know, especially from an Aussie, considering this is where we live. Thanks mate appreciate the effort and look forward to more, mono leaf rear and adjustable shocks f&r for the basic guys would be nice.
Luke, it may not be your thing but your journey over the last few years is really interesting. Plus a muck around Aussie gaining popularity and success in the US makes great watching. Mate, if you don’t want to do the vids, get Haitch to do it. She’s awesome and the young bloke. We have to guess where you are at what time and who with. Cheers mate. Al.
AWESOME video!!! i wish more ppl made videos like this, im fabing my 4 link on my truck right now n this gave me alot of ideas! iv been struggling to figure out where my front 4 link pick up point is going to be an how long my link bars need to be
This looks educational but i am watching this in a quite house with headphones and the one channel audio hurts my head. I will try later with just PC speaker and see if that helps. Looking fwd to watching this!
Loved it mate, Been following for years btu you know that. You ever coming back Down Under? Keen to see the Torrie hit the Track regardless ha ha. Cheers.
Loved the old HKGT series Holden's. They were like trams with the stock six. A mate of mine and his brother were mechanics back the eighties. They did up a 202 with steel crank and rods, four barrel Holley, John Caine manifold and a hot cam. In the HT ute it spun the wheels alrite. Sounded great with a lumpy idle. RIP Dez.
Have you ever looked into Magna Ride shocks that GM puts on the Camaros and Corvettes? Hypothetically you could have active suspension and set up shocks to ramp independently to control the suspension
The main issue would be, that the valving in a good drag shock is very very tight to control the separation when you have high horsepower. Way outside the realm of any factory valving.
I used to have a HT ute with a worked 308 that I built that was very fast when I was a young bloke. That motor used to rev to the moon. People couldn’t believe it was a 308.
2:00 minutes in. Too much stored energy. Found out the hard way that 4 psi less pressure in the front tires can mean the difference between a nice 12 inch wheelie and a bumper dragger. I biffed setting my fronts. I lowered them to what I thought was 28psi (for more roll out because I was fired up on the tree and run no box) and accidentally put them to 24psi and well I still went red because the tires went straight up instead of rolling out.
My issue was the front had very little uptravel and the rear too stiff. So doing 30 mph and stabbing the throttle it would break loose. Added some travel to the front, softened up the back. No more problem.
Just a question. I didn't hear you mention adding weight to enhance traction. I really really am against it personally but wouldn't mind hearing your explanation for doing it. It just doesn't compute to me, people building or buying their dream car finally getting that light weight car, and then stacking hundreds of lbs on the rearend. 🤷♂
Arent you band aiding the quick front end rise with a second kit when you're not controlling the front end rise with the shock? Wouldn't you be better off to re-valve the shock to better control the lift?
@@motorfab I thought between AFCO, Menscer, and Penske that pretty much every shock option was covered. I guess not. Dunno how the Aussies designed their front ends. Maybe a photo or video showing the shock would help make me understand... But, may not be worth the time to explain.
Finally , someone to explain with video examples . Awesome content . 😀
Thanks for watching, glad you found it helpful!
Solid advice, glad my car could contribute to the video! 😂
Thanks for helping us capture such great content Amigo. Look forward to seeing you make many more passes to come.
Excellent video, keeping it simple enough to make sense for me!!

Glad to be of help. Mono leaf rear and adjustable shocks for the basic guys will be happening for sure.
What an awesome clear video! Thanks so much for sharing quality info!
Very informative good sir!!! I loved it accept the audio haha😂🎉 can't wait for the next one mate
Glad you liked it, we'll work on the audio next time!
New sub. Great video very informative. Old school suspension setups. Thats a lot of trial & error that will save gobs of runs. Thanks for sharing.
Great video. Love the slow motion footage with commentary. Just subscribed. Best wishes from Canada.
Very educational. Thanks.
Love tech help videos, thank you!
Some great advice and very informative 👍
Glad you found it helpful.
Good video mate. We are trying set my brothers new setup for roll racing. Learning suspension is quite tricky.
Suspension is definitely a tricky one. Good luck with the setup!
Some good Redwood Rally footage. Was there last year but not this past one sadly. Couldnt get all the cars ready. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching. It's a great event!
Nice informative vid Mr Luke.
Thanks Robby, I appreciate your friendship and support
Great video mate , answered so much, thanks
Thanks for watching!

Appreciate the support, Al, means a lot.

13:32 I see what you were telling me yesterday. Definitely will be hitting it with more power to see what it does.
I hope this helps you get that foxbody into the 4’s

Thanks for the info Luke. Is this info for radial tyre?
Loved it mate, Been following for years btu you know that. You ever coming back Down Under? Keen to see the Torrie hit the Track regardless ha ha. Cheers.
Thanks for the support. Yeah we’ll be back pretty soon.
A leaf spring 101 video would be cool! Front eye height, bar angle, front and rear spring rate, rear slider angle, etc!
Just found your leaf spring videos, watching now!
@deanrock1962 we will definitely have to do some more in-depth leaf spring stuff
hey luke curious how does this go when runnning stick shift car on radial tire ? same principle.
My Hg ute never breaks traction, not becasue I've got a motorfab kit in the rear, but because she doesn't have enough power 🤣
We’ve all been there before. Well at least you know what to do if you’re ever making too much power!
@motorfab absolutely thank you sir

Starting out great info 🙏🏻 keep them coming
Thank you! Will do!

Sounds like a real weapon!

Finding mine is well balanced, only ever unloaded the rears once in 7 years.
My issue was the front had very little uptravel and the rear too stiff. So doing 30 mph and stabbing the throttle it would break loose. Added some travel to the front, softened up the back. No more problem.
My mechanic told me if you have this problem to remove one of the ignition wires, if it still happens take off another one.
I wouldn't be removing any ignition wires, that sounds dangerous!
Yeah, I would find a different mechanic.

Yes that is very true. But I’m running a stock front end with very limited shock options. The fix is a lot of work.
@@motorfab I thought between AFCO, Menscer, and Penske that pretty much every shock option was covered. I guess not. Dunno how the Aussies designed their front ends. Maybe a photo or video showing the shock would help make me understand... But, may not be worth the time to explain.
The stock front end is very restrictive. Its very hard to even see the shock in there
Positive camber was my biggest issue lol
The suspension is killing me!
😂
Audio quality is crap dude..
Our apologies, some devices are having a lot of problems and some are ok. We will work on fixing it. Thanks for the feedback
first 5 mins no sound from ur mic ?
Thanks for letting me know, I'll check my mic setup next time.
5min no audio.....really hard to follow
I'm listening to it now at just shy of 6 mins and my audio is fine. Maybe it's your phone/app/computer
Thank you, we’re working on it.
luke half the video is missing audio
Thanks for letting us know. Some people can hear it and others can’t. We’ll try figure it out and get it fixed for you.
Turn the gain down on your mic to the lowest setting. This will stop it being so distorted. If you need to increase volume, do it when editing.
Thank you for that. I’ll give it a go
Im watching it now and my audio is fine
Thank you, we appreciate the feedback, some people are having issues and some aren’t.
Disagree. Only heard him speaking from one headphone, while car videos sound was on both
I just Subscribed mate love it! Could you do FWD and AWD and possibly suspension settings ect
Hi
I hate to say it but the earth just doesn't have the capability to hold my tires....
Your engineering knowledge is exemplary Luke. th-cam.com/video/N6vaYHRu53k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Ka00AHkHC2jK655c
