Dude, as someone who owns a gen 1 V45c (1982) I can hear the same love in your voice that all of us who own them have. I hope you kept it. These bikes need to be cherished like the fantastic machines they are, not ruined on someone who will trash it because it is so "retro".
@@simonmilner I tend to fill up every 100 miles or so, but she'll go a bit further than that. I don't think I've ever let her run dry, except to store, and then I drain. But yeah, with no gas gauge just reset your trip every time you top off and fill up at the 90 or 100 mark, depending on your exact bike of course. @@thechillhacker thanks so much pal, much appreciated. Thats great I'm looking at a 1984 magna 700cc imported from the USA to England. You have been a great help.
In ‘84 I bought an 84 700 Magna (VF 700c) brand new for $1975. She was sweet. In ‘85 I rode it from Oceanside, Ca. to Bethany Beach, Delaware and back on 30 days leave. Only problem was 1 turn signal bulb. 1 week out, 1 week back and 2 weeks messing around. God knows, I loved that bike. Those memories - priceless !!!
A 1985 V45 Magna is the bike I have now. It's my first bike. Mine wasn't quite in as good shape as this, but I was lucky enough to find one with the original windshield. As a rookie, I find it a bit top-heavy because I'm 5-4 and weigh a hundred twenty . Took the course and this is going to be my third season. Ride safe everyone
I had a black 1983 Honda Nighthawk 550 S back in high school. Your video brought back so many memories! That inline-4 engine screamed like a sport bike under hard acceleration and glided like it was on a cloud in 6th gear (overdrive). I can hear that exhaust note even to this day in 2020.
I absolutely love my ‘97 magna 750! It’s my very first motorcycle I bought it yesterday for 2,000 she’s got just below 10k miles and everything works as it should!
I've got a 1983 Honda Manga that I bought new in 1983. It was the last 750 made by Honda. The following year as a result of Import duties that resulted when Harley cried to Reagan about needing a break from the Japanese, Honda dropped the engine size to 700 cc. I now own four motorcycles. I just couldn't part with them for the pennies you get when you want to sell a bike used. I still ride it from time to time. After it was broken in I put Mobile one in the bike and never had a rear cylinder problem and it also solved the stiff shifting probelm. Of course the bike only has 16,326 miles on it.
I have a 1986 700 magna as my second ever motorcycle and it is amazing! It feels like you are riding atop a mini Corvette engine! You sit upright and it is so comfy!
Bought my Magna 750 V-45 brand new in 1983. Still have it and ride it most weekends with the wife here in Colorado. It's all original except for the oil mod. Kind of hard on the butt for 2, but I wouldn't dream of getting rid of it after all these years. Runs like a top and pretty darned fast.
I love the magnas both V30 and V45... the v4 engine is amazing its literally a cruiser with a sports bike engine (VFR Interceptor) and i wish they had continued with the v4 when the shadow came out and went with the 800 engine... the look and the sound just don't mesh in your head and its an awesome thing. if i can find a V30 Magna in running condition thats what i would want for my first bike
i got a V30 as my first and only bike. miss it madly it was perfect. now looking at v45/65 maybe to do a custom build or trike type build so i don't have to worry about throwing my bad leg over a bike like normal which i can't do no w.
Love the reviews. Owned lots of Hondas but never a cruiser but seeing your vids makes me think a Shadow could be the right amount of comfy and legs for my life about now. Thanks.
Rode dirt bikes back in the day. My first street bike I am picking up tomorrow. Kid in a candy store feeling is an understatement lol. Its 4:30 am and can't sleep im so excited lol. Its the magna VVVVVV45. Appears it needs a head light. The tank is custom painted already (bonus). It needs about a days worth of clean up work on the chrome but no pitting or rust stains. Started up right away and I popped in to see it unexpected so they didn't go fire it up 10 mins before I got there. Was asking $1500 Cdn. Im getting it for $600. Think the guy is hard up for coin.
Geez, I wish mine still looked that nice. 2nd bike I ever owned. Bought it brand new in the spring of '86 (previous year model). My wife and I did our honeymoon on it, back in the summer of '87. Rode from Calgary, AB, Canada, down through to Utah, across Nevada, over to the California coast, then up the coastline, back into British Columbia, and back across the Rockies, home to Calgary. Three weeks on the road. She was my primary ride for 15 years. These days she's been reduced to my work commuter, but she's got about 151,000 kms on it (around 94,000 miles), and looks like she's been rode hard & put up wet way too often, but still starts up every spring, after just a couple of cranks. I realize your video is about 3 years old now, but at $1900, you stole that!! I hope you decided to keep it.
Loved mine, drove her in rain, snow and sun for a couple of years lived in the oregon coast range. Did just as good in snow as in sunshine 50 mpg & smooth
I recently sold my old 1100 v65 magna. It was an 85. Fastest thing I ever rode. The only drawback with miles aluminum forks stabilizer would crack and oiling the top end required a retrofit kit. Wish I still had it.
I just got an 82 Magna with 12k on the clock for $800 🔥 my first bike was a 2011 Sportster (brand new at the time) and since then I’ve went toward sport bikes and sport touring bikes. I gotta say getting on the Magna reminded why I love riding, it’s super comfy but also has plenty of power. The power and the handling seriously blew me away, I didn’t think an old Honda cruiser from 1982 would be so amazing. Everyone needs to ride one of these at least once.
Whar carbs? EFI! Brings back memories. I had the red 1986 Magna VF700. Massive acceleration. EFI, water cooled, shaft drive, anti-dive forks. Super comfortable to sit on--seat, pull back bars. Smooth ride and loved the curves. When you really get on the throttle it roars.
This vid inspired me to buy an 84 Magna v45 as a first bike. I prefer a free revving motor like this over a twin with a bunch of low end torque. Runs great, really enjoying it.
First bike?? Bro this is my 10th bike! I have an 85 magna.. Probably about 85%.. I'm 51 been riding since high school.. I paid $1200 for it with 18k on it.. Guys my age with 20k Harleys see it and gotta come and see it.. I don't have any problem keeping up with them! Mine runs like yours.. I've been a Honda freak for 30 years! Like you said.. It's comfortable and nimble.. KEEP IT!!!! 😊😊
I have an 85 with 16k on it when i bought it for $1400... And like you, i can keep up with anything around here! Its hard to hold on when you shift at red line shifts! Iv'e been riding for over 40 years, but this bike is the first one i was REALLY impressed on the first ride!
Last June I bought my first bike, 1984 Honda Magna v45, black, 400 original miles and I paid $300 bucks!!! I’ve been looking for a v65 ever since. Love these bikes so fun, stylish, fast and nimble
I purchased my first bike in 1987. It was a 1983 Honda V45 Magna for $1,700. It had 1940 miles on it. I loved that bike ! Over 30yrs later, out of nowhere, I bought a new '17 Harley Breakout. If I ran into a clean V45 or V65, I would buy it in a minute. If the guy had both, I'd buy both. They just had everything. Smooth, quick and nice looking. PEACE from Philadelphia
I had one back in the 80s same color. This 750 would out run most 1100s back then. Great bike. It's big brother the V65 magna was the fastest production bike back then. The v45 was the fastest production 750 also if my memory is correct? Great VIDEO. Brings back many memories. These bikes were very fast and comfortable.
The late 80s were some of the best years for Japanese V bikes. So many innovations came from Japan between Honda and Yamaha. Myself, I own a 1986 XV700 and after a lot of elbow grease and I must admit, a fair amount of cursing, I wouldn't trade my "Yamaharley" for anything.
Just got my first bike its an 83 beautiful first bike they are bulletproof... Got stuck on the higheay three times getting it home from a dealership in the middle of a rainstorm!!! Never forget being stuck on the highway getting my first bike
I just bought one! 82 (I believe) 750 magna. All black, real good condition. Low miles too, it’s my first. I was looking at a lot of different bikes and styles and this was what I liked. It’s the oldest out of everything I looked at
Bought one in Maine. Carb clean, fluid change, reupholstered the seat then Drove it to Key West. Incredibly comfortable ride, 6 gears and even in sixth you can feel some torque at 70mph. Sold that one, just bought another. Love these bikes.
In the 90's I had the V65 Magna. The people who had the V65 know how fast it was at that time. Just saying, it eat R bikes for breakfast when accelerate 0 to 200 kmph. Legend
I was lucky enough to pick up a 1984 Honda Magna V30 VF500C. For the very very low price of $300. The exterior is rough, is was not treated well by the last few owners (it appears it may have been their first bike as well), but mechanically is flawless. Fastest I've gotten her to go is 125.
Hate to tell you Sean, but you are riding a VF700C. It’s got a 6 speed transmission. I bought my ‘84 for under $2000 in Nov. 83. I took it Oceanside California to Bethany Beach Delaware and back on a 30 day leave. The only problem was a blown turn signal bulb. No back or kidney pain. Worst decision of my life was selling it in ‘91. Thanks for the memories.
Just bought a ‘96. 32K miles. Doing a carb rebuild and lots of PM (sat in a garage for 2 years...). Paid $800. Can’t wait to get on the back roads of SE Texas.
I was gonna buy one for 400$ that had been sitting a while but the person never replied so I got an 87 Goldwing instead.. something about old Honda’s, they’re cheap reliable and unique
I own and ride a 1994 gen three 750 Magna , 52,000+ miles and a 2014 CTX1300A , both V4s, and love them. The Magna sounds just like the one on the video.
I had an 82 v45 magna and had no problems with either 2nd gear or the carburators (never touched them). The clutch started to go at sround 40,000 miles, and i decided to have it rebuilt at the honda dealer at 45,000. I put another 20,000 on it before i traded it in for a 92 750 nighthawk. I liked the nighthawk because it had hydraulic valves-- no adjustment. Magnas are a pain when it comes to valve adjustment. You have to lift the gas tank, drain the coolant, and remove the radiator in order to adjust the valves--every 7500 miles. Hated doing it, so hydraulic valves for me are a must!
I had a 1986 Honda Magna V65. The bike was awesome. Very fast and handled great. I felt the same way when I rode my bike. I also love the Bible verse. I almost went to meet Jesus when someone cut me off. That’s a story for another day. God bless brother!
Man just got my first bike, an 85 magna 700, and live South Carolina, and my parents live in Morgantown PA, didn't think I would try riding it up there, but I might now.
I had an 87 VF700C Super Magna. I enjoyed it very much for the v4 power and sound, smoothness, 6th gear highway trips. It did drop 2nd gear at 14k miles, which was a common failure on those. I sold it looking nice and running well, less 2nd gear. My neighbors 78 GS750 was just about equal in speed during the occaisional impromptu drag races with me. Thats probably what caused early demise of 2nd gear. I've met guys with magnas that had 50k + miles still going strong.
Sean, love the test rides so much, and now I love the scripture verses added with the rides. Now I can get both my motorcycle video time and daily Bible verse all in one shot!! Keep up the great work, God bless you and be safe out there.
New to this channel & I also appreciate the scripture verse with the Great riding action. I’m visually impaired so I do not drive or ride. But I really wish that I could ride & I love Honda.
You forgot to mention that these were the years that the cams were made of pot metal and wore out in 30,000 miles or less. The ones from the early 80's and later 80's on up didn't have the problem, only the V45 (700cc).
Yeah I remember something about that.. they sold an after market overhead cam oiler kit that fit under the oil filter with a line that went up to the cam cover.
not a 750- its technically the V42 and 700cc- but WAYYY better than the Shadow of same era, I have a 86' Magna 700 with 52K on her clock.. runs like a TOP
They were 750 (748) until around '84, I believe, when there was a change in the tariffs from Japan for bikes over 700 or so. After that the V45s were ~700. I got an '83 750 to take from NC to CA and back. The bike was a dream the whole time, not a single problem outside of getting both tires replaced. I called it "Glide."
My buddy who passed away in a car accident a few years back had a Magna. We'd ride together all over the mountains of Vermont and with me on my 05' GSXR 1000 and he'd keep up with me always except on strait aways
I haven't rode a bike before except dirt bikes but looking for a magna love them they were top class back in there day wouldn't mind getting one a little junky and working it back to its former glory
It has a 90 degree angle, not a 45 degree angle, and yes if you can afford it, keep it for yourself. It's a legend and someday it could be a museum piece if it is kept in that kind of shape.
I miss the muscle cruiser era. Good times and bad ass bikes. The vmax is probably the most infamous of them but Honda Suzuki and kawasaki made some awesome muscle cruisers also.
when you get over 500 comments on a reveiw of a 35 year old bike, you know they were a great & loved machine.i have an 84 i bought in 07.somebody will get a nice old bike the day i die of old age.
I’m loving that your video has No wind noise I love that also iv been thinking about getting my bike running it’s a Honda Magna to 45v 750cc it’s nice I payed $200 for it to flip and with gas going up and with more people riding nowadays iv been debating on selling or fixing and keeping
My first bike was an 82 magna v45. I bought it for $800. It had 40,000 miles on it. I daily drove it for a little over a year but hit hard times and couldn't keep it. I decided give it to my brother as his first bike. He rode it for 2 years and got cancer. He had to sell it and to this day we both talk about and miss that bike. We beat the shit out of that old girl and I can't think of 1 single part that I had to replace. Other than like oil, tires, sprockets, chain, and I did the fork seals when I changed the fork oil. But not due to failure, but because it was convenient. Rating 10/10
I almost bought one of these 9 years ago when I was 16 for $500 but it had a knock in one of the cylinders. If I would’ve known how to work on it, hell maybe it woulda been the best starter bike ever.
I graduated high school in 86 and the V65 Magna was the king of the straight line. Yamaha VMAX was another. They were my grail bikes. The V65 Sabre was another.
I love when cruisers had sensible foot controls below you rather than out front. When I'm on a bike I don't want to sit like I'm on the couch watching tv.
I had an '84 Magna, in the same color of this one and loved it. I recently found an '88 Super Magna in mint condition with only 23K miles, for $3200. I may end up buying it.
Honda made virtually indestructible motorcycles like these back in the 80’s and I had an 1983 CB650SC which has hydraulic lifters and a shaft drive….it’s a car with 2 wheels. I rode this Honda and traveled from California to Vancouver British Columbia Canada and put 83K miles in it before selling it.
Dude that sharing shit......that's what's makes u one of the best dudes n the world my guy! There isn't a single dealership n the world like yours is/was! I hope u come back to selling bikes again man.
I used to have a 1984 V45 Magna. I completely agree with you that the bikes are built amazing and are stronger than a Sherman tank. As a matter of fact out of the six bikes I've ever owned the Honda Magna was a longest one of owned and ridden for about 6 years. I have been owned a Harley Davidson flstc on that was crap. I then moved the Honda Shadow Ace which I had for about 4 years which is pretty much of the same platform as the V45. I now have a 2006 VTX 1800 C. Oh my Lord is that thing a monster! It has a power commander 5 and Cobra pipes that think pretty much rape anything on the road! I don't really have a Need for Speed like I was when I was younger, but I put a few sportbikes to shame right off the start.
A newbie? I have an85... At 200 lbs. I can get her to 55 in first gr. And 110 top speed.. Not a slacker bike! I paid $1200 with 18k on it.. Oh.. Btw, 6 speed
I'm 70 years old and I have been riding since I was a child.
Have had many bikes...
But the 750 magna is by far the easiest bike to ride I have ever been on.
Effortless and fast.
Just loved it!!!!!!!
This bike was built at the height of Japanese over engineering. They made them to last indefinitely. $1900.00 for this bike is a incredible bargain!
+D J Tanner I thought so. Great bike
D J Tanner, the earlier models were notorious for cam oiling issues & second gear failure,.... Not quite Over engineered or lasting indefinitely. ....
I think MSRP in 1985 was around $3400
Danny Rumbles I’m buying one for 1200 in 8 days but it’s black I have been iffy cause the age but I’m not a beginner rider been on bikes for 20 years
Srkcycles I'm looking at one for $995 in IL
My brother has a 1983 model. These bikes were way ahead of their time. Very comfortable, smooth and fast.

Its hard to hold on when you shift at red line shifts! Iv'e been riding for over 40 years, but this bike is the first one i was REALLY impressed on the first ride!
I owned the 83 750 Magna. Actually passed my class C at the DMV on it! Was a great Bike!
Had the v65 in my early 20s. Almost died a couple times. Super fast and reliable. I get sentimental every time I see one absolutely love these bikes.
I had the v45 when i was 16. I loved it . Its a miracle im still alive today
Last June I bought my first bike, 1984 Honda Magna v45, black, 400 original miles and I paid $300 bucks!!! I’ve been looking for a v65 ever since. Love these bikes so fun, stylish, fast and nimble
I personally ride a 1994 Honda Magna VF750C. I love it to death. I wish they still made these bikes. I'm a sucker for muscle cruisers.
Yes I've worked on them many years to earn a living. The 1100 Magna would really haul. They were great machines.

Legend
Rossmann my 1985 V65 runs like a Demon in 2019 👍 Still a Harley Killer
Still they are enough.
I just got a Magna, can't agree more
I was lucky enough to pick up a 1984 Honda Magna V30 VF500C.
I'm doing a trade for an '83 Magna 750 tomorrow and all I'm seeing is they are great bikes, glad to be getting one of these vintage bikes!
I've got a 95 magna and I find myself riding it more like a sport bike haha
95 here as well
I do the same thing with my 78 GS750
Because for there time they were an exceptionally fast cruiser. The sportsters of the mangas time had half the hp
Because they were built as 4 cylinder power cruisers , unfortunately all dead category today
I was gonna buy one for 400$ that had been sitting a while but the person never replied so I got an 87 Goldwing instead.. something about old Honda’s, they’re cheap reliable and unique
I have a 1985 Honda VT 500 C and I love it! So easy to ride and I've never had any issues with it! Those bikes last forever.
I had a 91 VT 1100 C and absolutely loved it
My buddy has one. We did a trip to New England a few years ago. He had no problem following me. I ride hard with a big power cruiser. I was impressed.
My v35 magna runs better than my sportster. Love those v4 bikes. Great design and comfortable to ride
Bought a brand new 1983 v twin Shadow 750 when they first came out and absolutely loved it. One year only as a 750 1984 model was a 700
I own and ride a 1994 gen three 750 Magna , 52,000+ miles and a 2014 CTX1300A , both V4s, and love them.
Word❣️ you gave me smiles ❤ I am currently restoring a 1984 vf 700 Magna. I am so excited to ride her! Loved the pov!
+Benjamin Black thank you sir and glad you liked it
New to this channel & I also appreciate the scripture verse with the Great riding action. I’m visually impaired so I do not drive or ride. But I really wish that I could ride & I love Honda.
Benjamin Black amen to that!!
I love to see magnas shown around I have the 1984 750cc I'm currently restoring it right now :)
Same here. Really neat bike. Mines dark blue
how is it going? i am gonna start a project!
it's a 90 degree not 45 degree engine, 700 cc and fast and fun and fantastic and handle great !
Also it's a V42 one, not a V45.
There's nothing like a Honda V4. It's just a gift.
not a 750- its technically the V42 and 700cc- but WAYYY better than the Shadow of same era, I have a 86' Magna 700 with 52K on her clock.. runs like a TOP
V42 was never used by Honda. It was just the VF700C,
Trevor-Tree22 Barrett I as well have an 86 vf700c ..my first bike..20k ..got it for $1100
its ummm ahhh technically like 748 hehehehe
They were 750 (748) until around '84, I believe, when there was a change in the tariffs from Japan for bikes over 700 or so. After that the V45s were ~700. I got an '83 750 to take from NC to CA and back. The bike was a dream the whole time, not a single problem outside of getting both tires replaced. I called it "Glide."
I have a 1982 750 Magna, they changed them after 84 due to tariffs on bikes over 700, so they dropped them. It is a fun bike.
My buddy who passed away in a car accident a few years back had a Magna. We'd ride together all over the mountains of Vermont and with me on my 05' GSXR 1000 and he'd keep up with me always except on strait aways
I haven't rode a bike before except dirt bikes but looking for a magna love them they were top class back in there day wouldn't mind getting one a little junky and working it back to its former glory
brye jankum same boat as you, guy down the street has one and I'm thinking of getting into street bikes just for one of these
It has a 90 degree angle, not a 45 degree angle, and yes if you can afford it, keep it for yourself. It's a legend and someday it could be a museum piece if it is kept in that kind of shape.
The first true sport cruiser. V45 Magna. It's awesome.
I miss the muscle cruiser era. Good times and bad ass bikes. The vmax is probably the most infamous of them but Honda Suzuki and kawasaki made some awesome muscle cruisers also.
old guys love old honda's easy maintenance....great ride....comfortable...just runs and performs...perfect! highway pegs is all you need!
Graduated high school in '84. A classmate had an '82 Magna and I rode my dad's '79 CBX. Good times.
One of the best bikes ever. When they are adjusted and run right.. the video shows how they run.
when you get over 500 comments on a reveiw of a 35 year old bike, you know they were a great & loved machine.i have an 84 i bought in 07.somebody will get a nice old bike the day i die of old age.
I’m loving that your video has No wind noise I love that also iv been thinking about getting my bike running it’s a Honda Magna to 45v 750cc it’s nice I payed $200 for it to flip and with gas going up and with more people riding nowadays iv been debating on selling or fixing and keeping
7:01 I like the fact that you said you could see yourself doing a big trip on this bike and just thought of visiting your homie Jared
Had an 86 Magna that looked identical to you bike. Sold it after 176000 miles and it still ran perfect. Just changed oil, tires and brakes.
The sound is just ugh! No need to be loud or what so ever like other bikes Listen to that! gift from God.
I graduated high school in 86 and the V65 Magna was the king of the straight line. Yamaha VMAX was another. They were my grail bikes. The V65 Sabre was another.
I bought an 85 Magna v65 with 32k on it not as sharp as yours but in nice shape. I love that thing.
I owned one of these in the mid 80's. Great bike. I read somewhere that Honda designed a bunch of vehicles around the 700cc V-4 engine.
Just picked up an 85 v30 magna. Didn't run when I got it. New battery and spark plugs and now it fires right up and runs great
I love when cruisers had sensible foot controls below you rather than out front. When I'm on a bike I don't want to sit like I'm on the couch watching tv.
I had an '84 Magna, in the same color of this one and loved it. I recently found an '88 Super Magna in mint condition with only 23K miles, for $3200. I may end up buying it.
I put a set of Nighthawk handlebars on my old Magna it was a great Improvement. Wish I still had that bike lol
Old school srk cycles test drive! I prefer this format better
Southerneagle83 I agree
Honda made virtually indestructible motorcycles like these back in the 80’s and I had an 1983 CB650SC which has hydraulic lifters and a shaft drive….it’s a car with 2 wheels. I rode this Honda and traveled from California to Vancouver British Columbia Canada and put 83K miles in it before selling it.
The 1100 was the magna that impressed me the most. It was beautiful.
That's the one I remember as well. It's the one everyone wanted. Wiki says it was 116hp. Pretty good for the 80s.
piquat1 test rode one but went with the Eliminator 900.
+Mike Hancock yeah the v65 was a monster
Fastest bike in its day. That bike is what really junpstarted the sport bike era
My first bike was a 1100 Magna now I ride a 04 v rod similar riding experience
Just getting ready to buy a 94 magna with 34k miles for $1000. I cant wait to ride !
I had the Honda Saber 750 (vee 45) 4 cylinder like that Magna. They were very smooth motors on hwy too. Mine would reach excessive 120 mpr.
After i saw this video i saw a 1982 magna. This is officially my first bike! What a beauty
