      Agreed. Never showed fatigue. Just a little rocked when Natalia landed clean. Other than that, cardio was on point.

  • @cacogenicist
    @cacogenicist 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

    Smilla is a tank. Tremendous cardio and muscle endurance -- she just keeps coming. You _will_ gas before she does, which is what happened to Natalia -- she suddenly slowed way down, _before_ absorbing that nasty hook to the body.
    Hopefully they get that 135 lb class uo and running soon. Maybe Smilla, with a longer camp, can make 125 one more time, but it would be really nice if she could just allow herself to put on more muscle and fill out that 5'10 1/2 - 5'11" frame.
    Natalia is a heck of a boxer, though. I dont see anyone else in One giving Smilla much trouble at all, at 125. But in a rematch, I reckon Smilla will not march into so many shots early, and she'll probably go after the body right away, seeing as Natalia's head is elusive.

    Thank your for posting this match, Papi, and your commentary. I wanted to see the whole match but was only able to find clips of the TKO. That body shot Sundell gave to Diachkova reminds me of how Alistair Overeem took out Brock Lesnar, except it was a knee followed by a kick to Lesnar's liver area that folded Lesnar as Sundell's punch to the liver area folded Diachkova. At 9:48 watch Diachkova's coach in the lower right reacting to what was happening, very very emotional.

    would be nice if Sundell learns from Jonathan Haggerty 's fighting style because of her height and distance . Their stances are similar the only difference is that Johnathan does combos aggressively with no fear, so does Sundell but she doesn't do much combos . I hope you don't mind checking Jonathan Haggerty's stance and see if agreed or not.

      As soon as I read the first sentence, I agreed with you immediately. Sundell does lack mixing things up. It’s a whole lot of one hit thing rather than combinations especially in this fight (except for the ending). Sundell with Haggerty’s aggression is a scary fighter 🔥

    I am a fan of Smilla and really glad of her victory. It was a very good fight, we definitely need a rematch (maybe at 135 lbs for both).
    However, you're right! Natalia did expose some of Smilla weaknesses. If Smilla want to be the GOAT and one day be successful at the UFC, I think there are several points she still needs to improve:
    (1) Head movements and better defense against good boxer such as Natalia. She received too much punches on her head. One day she may get KO by a good striker with great power (notably if she move at 135 lbs).
    (2) Work on her boxing. Natalia dominated too much the boxing exchanges.
    (3) Use her size at her advantage. She should have used more low kicks, middle kicks, side kick, or calf kick to put Natalia out of boxing range and to reduce Natalia's mobility.
    (4) Establish better game plans with her team. In this fight, her plan was to put continuous pressure to close the distance then work in the clinch (where she is very good). When she does that, she moved too much in line with Natalia hands (and stance) and therefore got hit in her head several times. She may get KO one day by doing that. She doesn't need to close the distance and look for the clinch every times (she needs variations). She is tall, she can use her reach at her advantage. She can also strike with fast in and out attack to hit her opponent without been touched.

      @@PaintedPapi Oh thanks man ☺️!
      I mean UFC as she said in interviews that she wants to try MMA in the future (she can start at the One to debut her transition and then move to UFC). She has to start training her grappling and wrestling now with good coaches (e.g. work on take down defense, etc).
      She still a raw diamond (as she is very young). Her coaches should now put emphases on strategies and technics.

    • @PaintedPapi
      @PaintedPapi  23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@axelll814 actually just to add to the ufc thing, she can probably make 125 there since she won’t have to worry about rehydration and all that. She can straight up just cut weight the way most fighters in the world do it. With solid grappling, she can def go crazy in the UFC.

    • @axelll814
      @axelll814 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@PaintedPapi Oh yeah, but if she continue to grow not sure she will be able to make the 125 lbs again (she is close to 6 feet now 😅).
      If we project on the current UFC rosters. It’s better she fight at the bantamweight. This category is currently weak. In the flyweight division, she will probably get destroyed by Grasso, Valentina, and Manon.
      I would love to see Stamp fight some of the UFC girls. Imagine Stamp vs Zhang Weili !!!

      Right after the match, Sundell herself said she wanted to stay in this class. This is completely understandable. One has not opened a bigger weight class and she cannot move to any other promoter yet. Her contract with One still is active. Neither any other muaythai promoter can pay her as much.
      And, for One to open a new weight class, I wonder how competitive it will be. How many women are this big? Most female fighters are within 160 - 170 cm range so, strawweight limit seems about right for most.

    This some bizarre commentary. Have you watched Sundell fight before? This was all about outlasting. In rounds 3-5 Sundell would have put on a clinic if Diachkova survived this round. she slowed way down halfway through round 2.

      Her last fight with Rodrigues, sundell absolutely dominated from the start to finish which was what I was expecting this whole fight. Sundell tried to fight aggressively first thing in the first round but got pieced up and energy changed. She’s been dominant since the first round whether it’s a finish or a decision. Based on those fights, whether or not she could outlast her opponent, she never got pieced up the way that she did by Natalia. That’s what changed everything for me. I kept saying clinch, knees and elbows because it was clear that she couldn’t outbox Natalia up until the end which gave us the surprising factor.

      I half agree with you on this. You’re right, proper kicks are definitely not being used especially for her height and typically fighting shorter fighters but then again she’s only 19 and can develop more. She’s getting similar criticism as supergirl. Both fighters have time to develop.
      Now if she ever fights Phetjeeja, she will be destroyed. phetjeeja is complete and well developed. Height wouldn’t matter much imo.

      @loyalsausages 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@PaintedPapi I wouldn't knock Smilla too much on the kicks. If you take her size and weight into account, the muscle needed to leverage her legs like a shorter fighter would require her being a lot more muscular in the glutes than she is. She literally can't afford to put on any more ounces than she already has. Her height and long limbs are both an advantage and a disadvantage because at 125lb or 126.5lb, she can't whip her legs around with the bone cracking torque some of us would like to see. But she shows us what she's capable of with those elbow and knee bombs which I have no doubt would have been putting in a major appearance in later rounds if the fight had lasted. - Either way, I have a lot of respect for Natalia. She was mad brilliant with timing and Smilla could learn a lot studying this fight and sparring with 4 ounce gloves (lightly!) to learn how to strike and weave past blows like Natalia does.
