It’s actually because the size of the size of the audience so the time it takes for the sound to travel to the front of the stage changes the beat so it’s literally uncontrollable in large venues
@@Joel-to2qw Audience connection is the principle reason why live music is so important, and involvement is one of many ways to achieve that and/or one of the principle signs of the presence of that connection. But yeah, if you're not clapping in time... better to not clap.
Your John Mayer lessons are so beautiful AND incredibly helpful. I love how you pick out songs that are not so readily available but that are quintessentially John Mayer at his best!
You sir, should have millions of subscribers…..you are a great player and produce professional, entertaining videos that are always great song choices. I don’t understand why you don’t have more subs 🤷🏻♂️
Watched this sooo many times, and it's so good. thank you for breaking the song down so well! melody -> harmony -> bass line -> percussion -> embellishments -> dynamics. You've given me an objective pathway for learning songs!
Duuude ypu are what Ive been looking for teching things with the intermediate/advanced player in mind. There's just stuff ypu should already know to get something like this at this level. You get it man😌
I've watched this performance more times than I care to admit... incredible tribute! That constant bass groove alongside the melody is unreal. Not an easy task, but it can be done with some practice.
You nailed it yet again ! What i want to know is - is there anything you CAN'T play ? You seem to have that rare ability to play anything you hear ! Excellent playing 👍🎸
When Miles decides to work with a tune, you know there's something to it. Of course Miles take it right into modal land while John Mayer kinda' takes it toward blues/rock, but that's the beauty of a really infectious melody, it stands up to all kinds of treatments. It's good to see John Mayer, the musician rather than John Mayer, the jet set playboy again. He really is something special. The music won! He is back to satiating his truest passion.
Another great breakdown... The real magic, though, is that it's a Toto song... which explains a lot... What a blend of talent in one video... *emotional*...
I remember watching this performance on TV way back on the day. Years later I heard Mateus Asato for the first time and I feel like this performance must have influenced a young Mateus.
Thanks for the tips. I used to make a guitar face watching your videos, and people were giving me strange looks. Once I stopped, wow. What a difference. BTW, great playing and great tips.

Amazing mate :-D ! I tried to play it in 2009 but never could hahaha. I definitely Patron you for 10 bucks now ;-). Thanks a lot !! You're great human.
@@GuitarPilgrim My favorite video you've done is "3 AWESOME PAUL McCARTNEY HIDDEN GEM SONGS!!". I loved the way you explained Contrary Motion. I'm CONSTANTLY showing people how it works with "Let Me Roll It". (I also added it to my open mic song list). I bought "Band on the Run" when it came out.
Whats funny is i have the human nature song by john mayer on my phone cause i ripped it from TH-cam the moment i heard it all those years ago cause you could tell he was in to it. Like soul and everything

Hell yes man, thanks for this :)
Your enthusiasm is infectious.
agreeeeed!!! :)
Infectious Groover
I hate when audiences try to clap along but have a hard time keeping up

Blame the arena reverb

when that crowd started clapping... fuckin hell
Yes!! Another John Mayer vid!! I don’t think anyone of us would be disappointed with more Mayer content, at least I wouldn’t be :)
Clapton said of Mayer once - "I'm not sure he knows how good he is".
I'm not sure you know how good YOU are :)
It's me I know, how can he not know ... anyway for Eric Clapton to say it, it means that the water was blessed
"It's the kind of song you play if you wanna impress the ladies right?" Absolutely right 👍
He’s giving me high vibes I can’t lie

Just my thoughts !
He will have more, it's just a matter of time.

Once again another amazing video lecture. Loved this version of the song for years, this is just what i needed to get the last few things right.

Same 😂
Man, such a great video❤️ You should hear the John Mayer Trio version of "California dreamin'"
But not the Connan O'Brian version. The live version.

Mayer and yourself are amazing player’s.
Loving your content as always.
Yeah Pilgrim can pretty much nail anyone's style. It's awesome!
Beautiful, you are right his dynamics are incredible
Dude’s got John Mayer following him on patrons:o
What a lovely tune. Thanks for introducing me to that and for breaking it down so wonderfully
I live for content like this, I love your breakdowns.

Guitar Pilgrim: Let’s play it slowly to see what he’s doing.
Me: Nope still no clue 😊
Guitar Faces! Funny, you're awesome my friend, your feel is impeccable too.....
Great video. Playing that bass line with the thumb adds so much.
That written by Steve Pacaro of Toto and Toto did most the Thriller album.
That's Steve Lukather on guitar.
He wrote that part.
And he made it funky because Quincy told him to.
This makes me want to study guitar again...
Thanks for breaking it down! Well done
Awesome. So smart so funny so talented. Cant wait for the next video. Thanks
Dude you are hilarious also brilliant in your fun approach.
Thank you amazing playing
Truly your enthusiasm alone makes your videos so entertaining. Thank you!
Been waiting YEARS for this!
JM is a master.
John is amazing but damn, you're damn good too.
At about 3:18 when you say "Slides" you sound like Christopher Walken
You broke that down beautifully man
Hey Guitar Pilgrim, this is very good - infectious!! Just grabbed my guitar!! Thanks again for your enthusiasm of the REAL important things.
Awesome tone and playing!
Thom, This is beautiful. Great choice. Thank you. Be well.
Glad you enjoyed it Jonathan!
I hope I'm never holding anything important when you post another John Mayer video, because I will drop it and pick up my guitar.
just John Mayer is enough
I love this guy so much

Waanzinnig !!! Thanks!
03:09 - 03:11 I pulled a stank face! felt that in my core! amazing!

When you’re demonstrating mateus asato playing ??
That is must for us !
I love how you always pick my favorite john mayer performances to make videos about 🔥

More Mayer,please. .
Watched you for quite some time man, not in a weird way lol
You've got the feel brother... Thankyou for your videos.
JM playing MJ
Thank you. I will definitely take note of that groove. I guess you could call it, well, groovy!
3:26 is signature John Mayer
You Are Golden!
I would think about playing it on electric guitar. Steve Lukather played it on guitar originally. His guitar is a big part of the songs success.
Lukater Forever...nn c'è paragone
i am a simple man. i see a john mayer x guitar pilgrim video and i just click on it. you rock my man
I LOVE YOUR GUITAR
You my friend are one the best guitar players out there.
Awesome breakdown!
The riff is Michael Jacksons song called Human Nature btw
Man, that was so good. Thanks!

Takes two hands to play that way.
Michael, John but... Quincy and Steve Lukather!
MANNN PLEASE DO A VIDEO about this toneeee
No matter how much I try, I cannot for the life of me play bass notes with my thumb!
So, when are you going to a swing at The Allman Brothers, Stormy Monday. Blues don't get no better than that.

Id like to see you break down the playing of a very under-rated guitarist, Mr. Myles Kennedy. 🤔
How about Wild Blue and that great Mark Knopfler influence. New subscriber here and crazy fangirl of JM.
It was actually written by the guys in TOTO
I wish I could just download his guitar cover.
Nice groove
Another excellent video, GP!

Hey Pilgrim.... I'd bet if Mayer sat down with you, it would be him who was impressed.
The clapping in that clip 😭😭
I’ll trust you on that one 😉. .. I hope Marilyn did too..😂

awesome video, sub from me. Mayer is an absolute genius, greatest guitar player of our time, and not to mention his incredible vocals.
