  • Driving to the top of the Sattelegg with a Honda Super Blackbird from 1998. Its an old school bike with a carburetor :-)
    I know that you could have been driving faster, but I wanted to drive uphill with moderate speed to make an enjoyable video ;-)

    I have one of these sitting in my garage. I bought it 3 weeks ago, and have ridden it 3 times(I have another bike, BMW K1200 LT) and the Blackbird is seriously for sale. I took it out for a decent ride yesterday through the local winding road, and I was really impressed at how well it went, handled and stopped. I sold a 2013 Hayabusa around 2 years ago because I never felt comfortable on it? The Honda is a different story, as within a few minutes f riding esterday I found myself riding it harder and faster than I expected to, and it behaved itself impeccably well. This is the only Black Bird I have ever ridden, and I am Impressed.

    This is one the best, if not the best amateur filmed ride on YT! And great job on the sound as well. Loved every second of it!

    That's a great vid, I've watched it several times. I've got a 97 bird they are one of the best all-around bikes ever made, and one of the best-looking. I'm dreaming of warmer days here in Misery( I mean Missouri)!

    Fantastic vid mate. I`ve had a `98 super blackbird and with 98 000 miles (!!!) on the clock it was running like brand new bike (just like yours). I think there is no better sport- tourer than XX so i`m looking for a next one for the season (maybe this time i will try the FI version)
    And that lovely vi vi vii vviii viv iv vi from the air intak on low revs ;)

    @85cactus Thanks a lot for the comment. I totally agree with you. This machine is simply awesome. And most important it is rather big (because I am 195 cm tall).
    For this sseason I am thinking about making a video with an external mic just to record the air intake sounds ;-)

  • @MarcelKessler

    Heyhey,
    I'd say a bike like this would be a bit overpowered to just cruise along. And if you are worried about fuel consumption, I would recommend something newer that uses direct injection, because (I never measured it) it feels like the bike uses a lot of fuel. Especiall once you drive at highway speeds. I'd guess something around 7 - 9 liters/100 km.
    So if you are looking for something to cruise and want it to be efficient, take a newer bike and a smaller engine (the 600cc ones got power too)

  • @85cactus
    @85cactus 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @Masterfryzz I`m 190 cm tall so quit similar. I think it would be even bether if you would fit MRA screen (one with that tinny "flipper" at the top). I`ve done that with mine and it is very good becouse you have plenty of space to hide the head from the wind with high speed and works like touring screen on normal highway speeds. Anyway i`m going to take a look on my "maybe black bird" tomorrow so hopefully i will upload a vid from Scotland as well ;-)

    Switzerland I guess, which pass? :-)

  • @MarcelKessler
    @MarcelKessler  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Considering that I am 193 cm tall myself, I would assume those 4 cm won't make that much of a difference. In my case I am able to lean forward and put my chest closer to the tank for a "street bike" feeling or stretch my arms a bit more for a rather comfortable feeling. Additionally, I really appreciate the big padded seat that provides great comfort for "la derrière" compared to harder modern seats.
    So I'd say take it for a joyride. It's definitely worth a shot.

    I am 193 cm. The seat is about 80cm high, and one of my friends who is about 177 cm tall could handle the bike quite well. I'd say it would be best to make a little joyride before you buy this bike, or you try to find a bike with a similar hight to see if it would fit.

    @masamosotin Thanks for the suscription, but to avoid disappointing you I have to be honest and say I will upload videos only occasional. But if you like speed, I can recommend you KesslerMotorsport's and STREET1RACER's channel. Those are two friends of mine who are doing hill climbing with their suped-up Mitsubishi Evo 8s. ;-)

    To me the Blackbird always seemed a tad too generic, no one feature, no one styling cue, no one design element...It's as if it was all bikes, all makes rolled into one.
    Now, consider the likes of the earlier 95 CB1000 "Big one", lots of things to see, to marvel at...proportions, symmetry , all of it..
