I appreciate when filmmakers do this. A friend of mine said she doesn't like it because it looks like the sides are cut off but I like to look at it as the film having more height. I do lot of still photography (not professional) and I've been getting more into shooting 1:1 so when I go back to 4:3 it's already looking a bit more "widescreen".
Just now finding your channel, the fact you only have 260 subscribers is insane! This is only the 3rd video I've seen so far but I'm very impressed. Keep up the good work. I'd love to check out your movie as well.

Thanks so much for this kind words, I really appreciate it, I started this channel to share my little skills and find company because filmmaking can be lonely sometimes, seeing message like yours makes me keep going!, Yah! talking of 4:3 for me always reminds me of old movies that I loved, its not my favorite if let say I shoot my own project in but I just love it! especially here on youtube. Please share the videos to your friends so that we can grow the channel, 😜🙏🏾

Love the visuals that accompany your storytelling! At 4:00, the night time shot, do you remember the ISO and lens info (aperture, focal length)? Very enjoyable!

Thanks man! this was shot with sigma 18-35 and this shot was 35mm, ISO 850, I don't remember the Aperture but cutely I always shoot at 2.8 Maybe I changed may be not 😁

Try experimenting with 3:2 as well. Also, 71:50 (1.42:1) which is in between the two and close to the Imax ratio. Both look narrow without being as square as true 4:3.
