    I really don't get the "Dark Fate is the best since 2" cliche. The other sequels are boring but at least they tried new stuff. Dark Fate just copies the best bits from them with even worse CGI and a nonsensical plot that involves phones in the middle of the desert, drones out of control, and then planes crashing into each other and a dam.

    Honestly, the first one was supposed to be a standalone movie too, because Reese specifically said *"Nobody goes home, nobody else comes through. It's just him and me."*
    But obviously Judgment Day retconned that to continue the story.

    • @isaned
      @isaned 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yeah, exactly! I've been wondering that myself. Sadly, they actually showed that part of Reese's story of "Their defense grid was smashed, we'd won! Killing Conor then wouldn't have made a difference." In Terminator Genesys opening scene. Which was cool to watch. But I like the way they left themselves a backdoor with the crushed CPU from the first terminator being taken by Cyberdyne and backwards engineered by Dyson to again, make the threat of Skynet real, so another timeline of Skynet being able to send back terminators could have happened, but the T1000 was way out there and changed the rules ("something about the field generated by a living person, nothing dead will go through.") Still a great movie. The T2 terminators could have still been sent back in time, only to different eras, and the resistance could have sent Kyle to one point and the reprogrammed T800 to the other, but that's my speculation.

    • @meshuggahlad7
      @meshuggahlad7 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@isaned With all that said, the knowledge of Skynet "reverse engineered" and possible era skipping time traveling, wouldn't it be possible to go back to say 1960 and start building skynet secretly underground. All you would need to do is send a pack of terminators to secure a location, send back a few more to build a facility underground, then send back a ton of terminators to start making Skynet. Twist, Skynet doesn't go live till the first dial up connections in the 90s finally happens. And then we land in the Sarah Conner John Conner saga! And all that time while Skynet waited, It actually built a massive army and immediately takes over. This time they wont fail. Duh DUh du du du! Duh DUh du du du! Duh DUh du du du! Duh DUh du du du!

    • @isaned
      @isaned 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@meshuggahlad7 I think it has to do with the limitation of technology and the butterfly effect. If Skynet sends terminator units too far back, it risks disrupting it's own future. If the terminator on it own kills the wrong person or interferes with events leading to the development of other technologies, the future will be radically altered, so they stick to one objective: kill John Connor. They kinda screwed up the concept set forth by Reese in part 1:
      -nothing dead goes through the time portal (T1000, T-X, T3000, etc)
      -most of the records were lost during the war so Skynet knew nothing about Connor's past (No T-X quest to kill Brewster and John's lieutenants, no convoluted plan using the T-H Marcus in T:S, no Pops T-1000 for young Sarah in T:G, etc)
      -the T-800 was sent back right before they sent Reese and they blew it up (No more time travel unless they reset the Skynet timeline with the remains if the T-800, which makes sense since it would probably be a parallel development of Skynet like T2 or T3)

    • @dragonsandsuch
      @dragonsandsuch 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, I just look at it as, from the time frame of the future, T2 happens first. The T1000 is sent to kill John, then the T800 is sent to kill Sarah.

    • @chrisdee1583
      @chrisdee1583 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Reese didn't know another Terminator had been sent (the T1000) as Connor and his team didn't discover the liquid metal readouts till after Reese was sent.This is explained in the Randall Frakes T2 novel so Reese as far as he knows it's just him and the T800.

Could a terminator convincingly say "I love you too, honey"? 2. What about sleep - does he lie in bed pretending to be asleep for 8 hours? 3. They never ate together? They never noticed how Carl doesn't eat despite looking like he needs 6000 calories a day? 4. What about showers, does he shower? We know they are made to sweat and have bad breath, so does he brush or floss? 5. What about taking a dump??? Does he go everyday at a particular time and sit on the toilet for 15 minutes, making constipation noises (AAaarrrlllghhh, aarrlllggghh)? 6. What about furniture, most is not made to hold the weight of a terminator. 5. What about shoes, how often does he need new shoes because of said weight? 7. He was never required to show some ID?

      @@eltoro747when they killed off John Connor it didn’t bother me. I just figured they’d find a way to stop that event from happening. But when “Carl” appeared I couldn’t contain my skepticism. I had the same thoughts as you did: I was IMMEDIATELY skeptical of this entire thing. I actually thought it was an elaborate farce for the story. How on earth could it convincingly mimic a human (a human HUSBAND no less) for any considerable length of time? Is his wife in a coma? She’d have to be for this to work. That whole thing just ruined the movie, not just for all those reasons, but also because it was the moment I began to fear that killing John Connor was purposeful and permanent - that they would not be reversing time or changing time or whatever to bring him back. That was the moment I realized how badly that movie was written.
      What a letdown. This whole series is Hollywood in a nutshell: throw everything at the wall and one out of five attempts will stick - but it’s never because of talent. It’s always luck. Even when they succeed. It’s just luck. No one knows or cares what they’re doing over there. They just DO and hope for the best.

    I'd quite like to hear your thoughts on the Back to the Future series. I mean, it's one of the last brilliant series from the previous century that hasn't been degraded with a horrific 21st century bastardising. Likely will one day, but the fact that this still hasn't been rebooted so far, as well as the sheer legacy it has that just keeps influencing our media today (Rick and Morty) I think might be an interesting topic for The Day _ Died series? Not sure how you'd write it though. You could argue the series hasn't died because no reboot has murdered it's value yet. Or maybe it died with the third film, though personally I love all three!

So when the day came of the release of T3 I was more excited than I have ever been about anything in my life, after I watched it i can honestly say as a fully grown man that I cried my eyes out and I was a soldier at the time in the military (T2 was what actually inspired me to join the Army as a soldier lol not joking) Since then we have had T4, T5, T6 and nothing upsets me more than the pain I have to go through watching these disappointing sequels …. Small parts and segments of these movies I liked due to my love of the franchise, but if I had made T3 the movie would of been fucking spectacular !!

The last three sequels all feel like first draft of what could be a good or at least interesting story.
    In an early draft of the Salvation script Jon Connor was supposed to be a secondary character who would talk the leads via radio or walkie talkie, after Christian Bale came onto the project it was heavily rewritten to give his character a bigger role. I remember watching all the Terminator films except for Dark Fate. Another example of Hollywood's greed, as usual. The first two are definitely the best, while Rise of the Machines is not that good but the ending saved it for me. Salvation is a struggle to watch sometimes. I actually liked Genesys a lot upon first viewing but if I had to watch again will be just as unremarkable as Salvation. I can't talk about Dark Fate since is the only one I'm yet to watch, as I said at the beginning. So, yeah, Terminator got everexposed when there was no reason to do so besides money, but that's the only reason that matters to big producers.

    I've never minded to dated looking special effects of T1 because the whole movie feels like you are watching someone's nightmare. Arnold's fake head in the eye removal scene just makes it more surreal.

    dark fate "it is without a doubt the best sequel in the franchise since T2", are you insane? It's even worse than Genisys

    I never saw the first two movies as a kid but when I decided to go back and watch them I fell in love with this franchise. Especially judgment day. I felt that it was a perfect sequel, story, and movie altogether, and I’ve never seen a more complete and fitting ending to a story in my life. So I was honestly sad to see how the next three movies felt like cash grabs with unfaithful story telling, I mean I liked the third one but even then it just doesn’t hit the same heights.
    And it seems this franchise is dead now unfortunately, and that’s the saddest part of this whole ordeal. The first two movies are all you’ll ever need from this story, even if there’s so much more you want from it.

    Say what you will about Dark Fate. But I gotta say this: I really liked Gabriel Luna as Rev-9. I actually thought he was pretty intimidating at times. I haven't liked a single terminator antagonist since the T-1000. I also loved Gabriel Luna as Ghost Rider. He's a great actor. He's the kind of actor that has a certain charm to him. And I think he did an Outstanding job as the Rev-9.

      RockStarRei Terminator 2 on NES is good too, what with Geoff Follin’s perfectly fitting ambient and terrifying soundtrack.

    The greatest scene of the terminator series, has to be the scene in t2 when arnold is walking to John, and yet it's when it died in my eyes, because the t-800 as the villain, is amazing.

    Dark Fate is just a SJW, extreme feminism propaganda film.

    Interesting how Cameron was very outspoken in his criticisms of T3 and barely spoke about Salvation and then suddenly praised Genisys to high heaven. Maybe he just legitimately liked that it took some risks.

    I actually like Genisys better than Dark Fate. A lot of things left unanswered that would have been cool to see explored in sequels.
